Newcastle After Argentine International Center-Back

News in the People today that Newcastle United are again interested Deportivo La Coruna’s £10M-rated Argentine defender Fabricio Coloccini.

Fabricio Coloccini – Newcastle also interested last summer

There was news last summer and even before that, that Newcastle were tracking the Argentine International who looked very good playing for Argentina in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Newcastle and Manchester City are said to be battling it out for Fabricio, whose agent will talk with both clubs this coming week.

Collocini is 6’0″ tall and has appeared 99 times for Deportivo and 27 times for Argentina. He was born in Córdoba, Argentina.

He went to AC Milan in 1999 but was loaned out to a number of clubs before he joined Deportivo in 2004.

Collocini is a good player, but since he’s untested in the Premier League, he would still be a risk in that sense.

We found that out with David Rozehnal last season, who plays very well for the Czech Republic, but was found lacking in the physical part of the game in the Premier League last season.

Comments welcome.

10m is a huge risk though. id prefer fetching cuellar and dunne for the 10m being quoted to be honest!

This guy is pretty good, I signed him on FM08 and he has been a rock at the back. I’m not sure about £10m though, maybe £8m. Although we should snp him up before Tottenham hear about him!

Top player, again the type of tough CB we need at the Toon. However i have’nt seen too much of him in recent years, hows his mobility. The reason i ask this is as much as i value and like Taylor i dont think he is the most mobile, solid yes and his reading of the game is ok, but will improve.

Coloccini is a great defender, little short for my taste but great non the less.

snap him up, 10M is probably a little high but we i’d take anything right now.

Would not pick us over City who will likely offer more wages and they’re in the UEFA Cup. If we’re even after him.

Rob Lee: “If Kevin buys the players and the board back him, it’ll be fine. We could struggle if they don’t let him do that.

“I think 12 years ago when we almost won the title, Kevin had all of his business tied up before the end of May.

“He knew which players were coming here and it was all done and dusted.

“If you don’t get your players in early, you’re on a rocky road because other teams will get there first.

“With the Euros going on, it only adds to the hold-ups, too.”

    finally some sense .
