There is some news emerging that Newcastle United may be interested in a 19 year-old Turkish midfielder.
Nuri Sahin – linked with Newcastle United
Newcastle United are said to be tracking Turkish International Nurin Sahin.
Sahin was born in Lüdenscheid, West Germany and he is currently under contract with Borussia Dortmund, but last season was on loan to Feyenoord.
He is a midfielder and can play in either an attacking or defensive role, and has already played 11 times for Turkey, even though he is just 19 years old.
He has not however, been included in Turkey’s 23 man squad for the Euro 2008 tournament, to start next Saturday.
With his international team mate Arda Turan, Sahin has been linked with a move to Newcastle united, with manager Kevin Keegan said to be impressed with his attacking style of play.
On August 6, 2005, at the age of just 16 years and 335 days, Sahin set a record by becoming the youngest player to have ever played in the German Bundesliga.
Then in November of that same year, he became the youngest player to score in the Bundesliga, when he scored against Nuremberg.
In July of last year Nuri Åžahin was sent to Feyenoord on a one-year loan agreement, where he was reunited with Bert van Marwijk, his former manager at Borussia Dortmund.
This player looks good to us, and would be an excellent signing, as one of the youngsters for the future of Newcastle.
He stands just under 5’11†tall and has played 48 times for Borussia Dortmund, and played 28 times last season for Feyenoord scoring 9 goals.

Comment #3A great prospect but not the finished article which is what we need now, I wouldnt want to put the weight of 52,000 fans expectations on him for our creative flair week in week out.
So provided we could get him at a reasonable fee, and on fair wages, he’d be a great rotation player with a more established CM coming in to play with butt for the majority of next season. Then over the next couple of seasons push him in more regularly.

Comment #10Newcastle prepare to resume Michael Owen talks
Striker believes club can challenge for Uefa Cup place next seasonGeorge Caulklin & Oliver Kay
Newcastle United have taken advantage of Michael Owen’s absence from the England squad by moving forward their second round of contract negotiations with the striker. After holding initial discussions last month, the club and player will attempt to reach an agreement about extending a deal that has 12 months to run. With Owen expressing optimism yesterday that Newcastle can challenge for a Uefa Cup place next season, his representatives will sit down with club officials in the week beginning on June 15.
Owen earns £115,000 a week, a figure that does not sit comfortably with the club’s desire for financial restraint, and there have been reports that he will not be offered more than £80,000 a week. Yet Owen is hopeful that next season will bring sharp improvements to a Newcastle team who finished twelfth in the Barclays Premer League. “If we set off with the same players, which is a good squad of players, we’ve got to aim for the Uefa Cup, the top eight or top six if we have a fantastic season,†he said.
Owen’s rivals for the job of partnering Wayne Rooney in the England team came away from the friendly against Trinidad & Tobago with differing emotions. Dean Ashton was less upbeat than Jermain Defoe, who scored two of the goals in the 3-0 win. “I was reasonably pleased,†Ashton said. “I probably could have done a little bit better and there were a few touches and passes that could have gone better, but that’s being overcritical. Hopefully I’ve done enough to impress for the next squad.â€

Comment #11Tell you what I would rather you stop reporting this. Its just another prick tease, im fed up of rumour this, interest that. Just report either official interest or signings i cant be arsed with it all anymore. I thought we had Modric, Dunne, etc and nothing its boring. I hope Keegan does quit, it would at least make Ashley sit up and realise that buying business is not the same as buying footballers. I agree to his idea of going for youth and doing an arsenal, but arsenal had a top 2 team when they did this not a bottom quarter side. Do something u fat bstrd

Comment #16Oh a brand new entry :O Was wondering where everyone went. And I appreciate the words but I don’t really think I’m much of a guru 🙂 I don’t really check out the lower divisions in Turkey where many known players have emerged from (Tuncay being the most familiar face for English fans) and there’s quite a lot who shine there.
I’d love to see Nuri sign for you guys though. If he would get Premiership experience at such a young age that is bound to have a great effect on the national team’s future.

Comment #20More drivel being churned out. Again, not a single quote from absolutly anyone that matters…so why on earth are we being linked with sahin? can anyone show me a real life quote from anyone regarding us wanting this kid?? i know there is nothing happening at the minute Ed but this stuff just does not help. there is a much more interesting piece on newsnow reagarding 1 in 7 fans not renewing season tickets in the prem next year. its a good article and makes for some interesting reading. I think that it lends weight to our clubs stance regarding finances and how man utd etc at 600 million in debt along with many other teams are on a lippery slope……its a good read lads, have a look. Ed, do a blog on that article instead of just pulling names out willy nilly.

Comment #23to Ross G, if you dont apprciate ED updating the rumours and news daily on this site, then go somewhere else! Duh..
ED’s effort and workrate is amazing, keeping us busy and updated during this dull period of the season where football fans feed on rumours to survive between the end of the season and the start of the new(apart from the Euro 2008 this year). C’mon, be appreciative!
think, according to your request, if Newcastle only signs 2players during the summer, you’ll only get 2news to read on here. i dont think i can survive on that. so KUDOS to ED, great job and thanx for keeping me on my toes for exciting news and rumours(even if they’re untrue)!
well, cant wait for the new season to start!

Comment #24This is my drunk opinion, so feedback would be good. Injured, high payed players are leaving (hi duff, emre, smith) early in the summer. This free’s up wage space, and squad space. We havent announced interest in anyone since modric
Im thinking we are keeping all deals silent (fenerbahce announced emre) until we have 3 big signings to announce. I think in 4 weeks we will show off turan, gomis and risse, and the mood will change round the club. I also see sessignon coming in, plus 2 youngish mids
I know ill regret this at the start of the season when hale is on the left wing, pace def mid, dale winton as an attacking mid and ferdinand, albert and barton dragged out of retirement. howeer mr blobby is ideal as the target man on a free…
Incidentally, i would be happy if either turk signed for sparta or slavia, im killing for a donna after 2 years. racist stereotypes over (and sorry)

Comment #26I’m not surprised if we never buy anyone this summer.
Remember the 5 youngsters we’ve bought this summer, I bet that Fat Ash would want them to go straight to the first team so as to save his bucks.
By the wage issue, it’s just another excuse and to do an Arsenal it is something that could backfired sooner rather than later.
The contracts won’t get sorted out and I might be very surprised to see our senior players stay loyal to NUFC till January 09 cause they can do a BOSMAN at that point of time.
Things will get uneasy for KK and if he leaves it’s not his fault either.

Comment #28i’ve watched this lad play and when we were first linked with arda turan i was already clamouring for us to sign him!
this lad is real class and even though he isn’t the finished article, he definitely would walk into our first team and add some creative flair to it. maybe not week in week out, but definitely one for the future too

Comment #29If there was someone with huge doubts about MA policy that would have been me….but that was last January when he sacked BSA and hired KK.But the way i see it now i think he’s doing the right thing, the transfer window is not even open yet and we allready got rid of our mercenaries who only care about the treatment room.
MA is not stupid he wants players who deserve their paycheck and who have a good resale value when the time comes to sell them.
I’m 100% sure that we’ll sign at least 6 players in the summer and that all these players will be able to play at least 80% of the matches and at the same time the wage budget will be in normal stages.I remember before the start of 2007/2008 season i had some serious arguments on this blog in order to defend Emre from some of fans who were slagging him all the time but now i see it differently…he never cared about our club at all.If he had any feelings he wouldnt have joined Gala’s biggest rivals in first place.
Our club wants to use practically the same system as Villareal atm.If you compare the wages for example between Villareal and Valencia you’ll see a huge difference in the wage structure and the position on the table aswell.
When i see how Tottenham is spending atm it doesnt bother me at all,as a matter a fact i laugh at their way how they will make fool of themselves in the next season when we take all 6 points from them again. Some of you may think that Tottenham’s players are not on high wages as we are but look at the number of their squad,if you calculate the wage of every player of theirs and compare it to ours you’ll see a huge difference. They can practically form 3 line ups
1 for Premiership
2 for the Carling Cup and FA Cup
3 for the Reserves.
Anyway guys just be patient till the window opens and you’ll be suprised with the outcome.

Comment #33According to the Daily Mirror (yeah, yeah, we know) we are now interested in one Pablo Aimar. Watched him on youtube. He has skill to burn and would be worthwhile at 6.5m. Classy AM and is worth looking at. May be just Mirror gossip because Real Zaragoza have put him up for sale. Great ball control getting out of corners – we need to know what he is like on the rest of the pitch. Anyway, excuse me for being cynical but Spurs and Portsmouth have probably read the same piece and have bids in already! Got to say it – folly to be wise.

Comment #35OK. Which ex-Chelsea player was it? What is the shit-hole – NUFC or Newcastle as a place itself? Was it Geremi? Was it Duff? The ghost of Babayaro? I am glad broon ale has confirmed this for us. I do not think it was Geremi – if it was Duff it may explain the rumours he is going to the Stadium of Shite(hole).
