Newcastle Chase Hungarian Center-Back

Another player The Star is reporting today that Newcastle United are tracking, is Anderlecht’s 6’4″ center-back Roland Juhász.

Roland Juhász – 6’4″ Hungarian center-back

The 24 year old Hungarian has played 36 times for Hungary with 3 goals, and is currently playing in Belgium for the Anderlecht club, for whom he has appeared 65 times since moving there from MTK Hungária FC in 2005.

He had previously played 107 times and scored 12 goals for the Hungarian club side in his home country.

We already have 18 year-old Hungarian Tamas Kadar at the club, and the Newcastle staff have very high hopes for the youngster, and we think he could even be pushing for a place next year in the first team.

We don’t know too much about Roland, but that’s not surprising since the recruitment staff is trying to uncover relatively unknown talent who can make it in the Premier League and not cost sky high and sometimes ridiculous transfer fees.

Newcastle have been down the latter path far too much in the last 10 years, and we welcome going after some of these more unknown players, and see if we can uncover some gems.

But it’s a definite risk, and their success at the club is dependent on just how good our new recruitment team is in spotting real talent, which has never been very easy in football.

But here’s another potential target, who was born in Monor, Hungary, who seems to be on the Newcastle list.

At least the club seems to be building up a good dossier on players, that will serve us not just for this summer, but for the next couple of seasons.

Seems like we’re even a little organized in our transfer dealings these days.

Comments welcome.

I’m hungarian, so I’ve seen Juhasz a few times. He is average at best. He is good in the air, good at going forward, can score goals (he used to be a striker), but he is weak for a CB, and slow, plus there are problems with his concentration too, often makes brambleesque mistakes. We can find much better centre backs.

Alright everyone, been reading the site for ages now and finally decided to post! live in madrid..and though the spanish press is usually nowt short of drivel…they are reporting aimar news today….though a little more realistically.

I was going to cut and pate an article from this mornings marca but its a bit long.

It basically says a few things:

    1. toon are only latest team to show interest, liverpool came in last week to show interest.
    2. Aimar has not publicly said he wants to stay on…unlike top scorer Oliveira
    3. They describe newcastle as an average team hoping to sign a “spark”. (sad but true i guess!)
    4. Maybe most importantly….this will not be resolved until next week as their new coacjh takes up his role on Friday and will want to give they final say so….

    hope this helps guys….

Okay guys I can help you out on this.

Juhasz is very strong in the air and is IMO one of the best defenders in the Belgian League ATM. But I’ve said the same about Onyewu a year ago and he did not succeed in the EPL.

To compare him with Roz; I think Roz is the better one to pass the ball, but in defending Juhasz is the better one.

I’m not sure if any of this is true, cause nothing has been mentionned in the Belgian media.

This is getting too much now…I am starting to have a breakdown : )

C’mon Ashley stop teasing us and show us some serious intent to push our beloved toon forwards..let’s see some signings and make us get a smile back on our chops.

Dennis show us that you can nail at least one deal to the toon mast and we will forgive you for chinning a defenceless old taxi driver.

Mr Ashley it is only money..so dig deep and spend like a demented muthafu@@@ on speed !!

    Come on TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON !!

Whats the point? Rozy is getting paid probably 10 times more than what this youngster would be. Thats the point.

I wouldnt have a clue about this player either, however we all know a few bad ones!!

I am with Shearer 9 on these positions and weeding out some midfielders if obvious top quality ones arent available, not so sure about Wise but the other fella will know his foreign players inside out as he has been looking at them for years, I just hope it isnt down to Wise’s charm to buy them.

Zoltan Gera (hungarian link) is available on a free transfer and would be a good squad player for a few seasons

What do you think of him ToonKing?

Zoltan Gera is a brilliant player, i all ready stated many times that we should sign him. He is a poor man’s Gerrard, though he usually plays on the right wing, he’s a quite capable player in a Owen type spot, playing behind the strikers. He has great vision, excellent delivery, and can score too. He is/was the best player in the Championship and was voted so by the Guardian this last season. He would be an excellent and cheap replacement for Milner, and he has bags of prem experience.

If i’m not mistaken he was all ready linked with us earlier but for a while it seemed that he is heading to Everton. Dunno what’s up with him now, WBA are desperate to tie him down as he is their best player and he is very devoted to the team too. My guess is that he will stay with the baggies but i would love to have him at St James.
