Another player The Star is reporting today that Newcastle United are tracking, is Anderlecht’s 6’4″ center-back Roland Juhász.
Roland Juhász – 6’4″ Hungarian center-back
The 24 year old Hungarian has played 36 times for Hungary with 3 goals, and is currently playing in Belgium for the Anderlecht club, for whom he has appeared 65 times since moving there from MTK Hungária FC in 2005.
He had previously played 107 times and scored 12 goals for the Hungarian club side in his home country.
We already have 18 year-old Hungarian Tamas Kadar at the club, and the Newcastle staff have very high hopes for the youngster, and we think he could even be pushing for a place next year in the first team.
We don’t know too much about Roland, but that’s not surprising since the recruitment staff is trying to uncover relatively unknown talent who can make it in the Premier League and not cost sky high and sometimes ridiculous transfer fees.
Newcastle have been down the latter path far too much in the last 10 years, and we welcome going after some of these more unknown players, and see if we can uncover some gems.
But it’s a definite risk, and their success at the club is dependent on just how good our new recruitment team is in spotting real talent, which has never been very easy in football.
But here’s another potential target, who was born in Monor, Hungary, who seems to be on the Newcastle list.
At least the club seems to be building up a good dossier on players, that will serve us not just for this summer, but for the next couple of seasons.
Seems like we’re even a little organized in our transfer dealings these days.
