Newcastle Make Official £9M Bid For Arda Turan

News today in the Newcastle Journal that Newcastle have officially launched a bid for 21 year old Galatasaray winger Arda Turan.

Arda Turan – Newcastle make initial £9M offer

The initial bid Newcastle have made is said to be £9M, which is a good first bid, even thought the news is that Galatasary value the player at £13M.

It’s good that Newcastle have made their early bid before the Euro Championship start because if the boy plays well in the European games, there will be lots of clubs in for the player.

Newcastle will now hope that the Turkish club will give a swift response to their initial offer for the attacking midfielder.

We think they may give an initial response but we’d be surprised that at this stage it’s anything other than to turn it down, because it’s obviously in their interests to hope that Arda has a great tournament for Turkey, when his price will go up.

It will be a coup for Newcastle if they can tie this deal up this week, and it does show the club’s intent to go after top players..

It does seem rather strange bidding for Turan after we are selling our only other Turkish player Emre, to Fenerbahce, who are Galatasaray’s biggest rivals. It would seem that Emre could have been an attraction for Turan to come to Newcastle.

We’ll have to hope that Emre gives young Arda a glowing reference for the club.

Other teams said to be interested in Turan already include Barcelona, Villarreal, Fiorentina and AC Milan.

Turan is just 21 years old but has played 60 times for Galatasaray with 20 goals, and has already played for Turkey 19 times, and he has scored one goal for his country.

Arda can play on the left wing or in a withdrawn role just behind the strikers, so he would complement Newcastle’s options, if we can get him.

UEFA.com describes him as a combative young midfielder with high levels of vision and technique and exceptional passing ability.

Sounds good to us.

The club says they will only sell us him for £13 million, so we offer £9 million…..go figure!

He is a great talent and one of the few rising stars that we could actually attract to this club

Spurs will probably offer the asking price of £13 million and steal him from us!

£13M is almost the price that Bayern payed for RIBERY, so be carefull! I do not think that he already is worth that much money…would much rather pay that much for ARSHAVIN!

I have just been down to the local BMW garage seen a really nice model priced @ 13k so Idecided to offer 9k in installments…what do you think the showroom owner said?

Exactly he told me to go and fk my mother.

Ed that does not show intent it shows a measly tight fisted billionaire..why don’t they pay the correct asking price and nail the deal..before somebody else does.

£10-£11 Million would have done the job IMHO. More signs of penny pinching from the new fat controller Mr Cashley!

Now, get out the way please, Spurs want in …..

His price will not go up after the Euros because Turkey will not make it past the group stages (group of death).

So he will only play 3 games.

As frustrating as it is that we won’t pay the asking price, it’s still good to see us not OVERPAYING for stars like we used to do in the past which got us into the financial trouble Ashley has had to sort out.

He’s worth around £10million not a penny more.

P.S sorry for being so negative I just want to wake up one of these days and hear 1 piece of good news to give me a lift..I might start supporting the local funeral director soon at least he knows a couple of decent jokes.

My point is though I just want to see some ambition,Appointing a billionire has not lived upto the expectations I have and I think some of the clubs appointmennts (wise & co)seem pretty dubious so far.

Keegan is currently on holiday and is not expected to return for another fortnight, leaving Mort, Jimenez and Executive Director (football) Dennis Wise to carry out transfer talks on his behalf.

This kid is a great player. If we can sign him, brilliant – If we can do so without paying meggabucks, even better.

Who on earth goes in with the asking price anyway?? You ALWAYS offer less than the seller is asking, its called negotiation, after which, hopefully, both parties strike a deal they are happy with!!!

Hope we sign him, he will add some life to what we call our midfield.

    Graeme – I agree

If we start paying the asking price for players we’ll get into debt again.

We bid £16 million for Veloso and the club said we can have him for £31 million. I mean for God’s sake.

Stick to your guns Ashley, I’d rather be a well run club like Arsenal, than a club in danger of going bust like Chelsea (when Roman leaves)

I hope we do sign him it well relieve my pain..I agree let’s negotiate but didn’t we have an 8m offer rejected for him earlier.

Ashley is a billionaire the odd couple of million whould not have fazed freddie he would have his fat ass on the plane and drag the player over by his left lug.

A few lads here seem to think that we didn’t offer enough money for Modric quick enough.

We bid more money and offered higher wages to Modric before Spurs came in but he still chose London because of geography and lifestyle.

There’s nothing we can do about that. I’m actually glad we’ve gone into this negotiation sensibly and not bid a ridiculous amount from the start (Luque?).

I hope we sign Nuri Sahin as well. Sahin is the perfect replacement for Emre. Not sure how Aimar will fit into the team though, he may be a quality technical player, but I fear that he won’t cope with the physical aspect of the game. But if Anderson, Hleb and Elano adjusted then i’m sure Aimar will……. hopefully!

Geordie nick, we offered more than anyone for Modic as has been stated by NUFC. The simple fact is, Modic did not want to play for NUFC. In that case it didnt matter what we offered or when, HE wasnt interested.

Fair point Geordie Nick, but I’ll be honest I’m yet to be won over by Modric. I wasn’t as devastated as some when we lost out. I guess I’ll get more annoyed if he turns out to be amazing for Spurs!

I just feel NUFC have started to paint themselves into a corner. We are currently selling or letting player go. We dont have much of a squad at the moment. Its very thin indeed. Its getting to the point where we have little choice but to pay the asking price (or at least come close to it). Unless we wish to buy/field unknown, average, run of the mill players next season.

This kid will not be in the shop window for long. Never mind the rest of the premiership wishing to add talent to there squad, most of Europe is trying to do that too.

I suppose it all boils down to what we want and what we are willing to do about it.

i know we dont wanna ‘be held to ransom’, but we are goin about proving it the wrong way, we are now simply nit picking over the odd couple of million, which isnt proving we wont b held to ransom its simply proving tht ashley is tight and its also gonna loose us top quality players tht we actually hav a chance of signing

They wont’t accept this offer. The transfer will be put on hold until EURO has finished. He will either have a good tournament and the bigger clubs will come in and try to sign him (and they are likely to be willing to offer more than those 9 mills and his prize might even skyrocket) or he wont and then we will have a chance and negotiations will go on until we are paying them something closer to their 13 mill pricetag. So why should they accept this?

Geordie Nick, It was also confirmed by his management and NUFC that spuds offered lower wages and a lower fee for him, which HE and his management accepted.

He was never coming to us. Unfortunately. But thats all water under the bridge now, no use crying about it, we need to move on.
