Kevin Keegan is bracing to lose his coach Steve Round to Everton during the summer.
Steve Round – will move to join David Moyes at Everton?
The former Middlesbrough and England coach joined Newcastle under Sam Allardyce last summer, and while several of Big Sam’s back-room staff left after Kevin Keegan arrived, Round has done well under Kevin in his coaching role.
Keegan wants to keep Steve at the club but the highly-rated coach has not yet been offered a new deal, and news today that he is currently out of contract at Newcastle.
So we’re not sure what Newcastle’s official position is towards retaining Round at the club.
David Moyes has yet to appoint an Assistant Manager, after former Newcastle Youth Academy Coach, Alan Irvine, left for Preston North End last November.
Alan did an excellent job keeping the famous Lancashire club in the Championship.
The club finally finished in 15th position, after they were in the bottom 3 when Alan took over on 20th November of last year.
If Steve Round does leave Newcastle, and we’d like to see him stay at the club, there are a number of good former Newcastle coaches who will be available.
These include Nigel Pearson, recently sacked by Southampton, and Chelsea’s Steve Clark, who looks to be leaving the London club.
