Valencia Want Jose Enrique From Newcastle

News yesterday that Valencia want to offer their big striker, Zigic, in part exchange for Newcastle’s Jose Enrique.

Jose Enrique – good up and coming player

Newcastle United have been invited to bid for Valencia center forward and Serbian International, Nikola Zigic.

The Daily Star reported yesterday that Valencia want to take the highly-rated Newcastle left full-back Jose Enrique back to Spain.

They are trying to use their 27 year old striker Nikola Zigic, who is over 6’7″ tall, as bait.

But Jose is a good player, and it’s unlikely that Newcastle will want to part with their £6.2M signing from Villareal last summer.

In fact, once Jose got a regular game at the club under Kevin Keegan, there was definite improvement in his overall play.

Jose still has a lot to learn, there’s no doubt about that, but he has a good attitude and is only too willing to learn at Newcastle.

He certainly has good basic skills, and can turn into a first-class player at Newcastle.

He appeared 28 times in his first season at Newcastle, with 23 starts, and he looked what he is – a good looking youngster who will only get better paying at Newcastle.

He’s got 3 caps for the Spanish Under-21 side so far, and he’s tipped to play for the full Spanish side in the future.

We want to keep Jose at the club, and don’t expect Newcastle to even thinking of selling the 22 year-old, who is certainly one for the future.

Comments welcome.

keep him ffs! good young player with bags of potential – saying that, it is by that fact alone that this story probs has some reality knowing our Wise jokers
see Spuds look like they have signed another one of world’s top young players – Giovanni dos Santos for UNDER 8m – finished one place above us last season and are rapidly showing their intent this summer; Modric and Dos Santos, thought to be in for Villa, looking very likely to keep Berba imo by showing ambition like that

we are being left behind – the gap is widening even more – we need to start and make waves if Ashley has any serious ambition

Get Zigic. Just don’t flog Enrique. It would be nice if that was how it worked, but I doubt we’ll be able to get him otherwise.

Shame really. He would fit very nicely into Viduka’s spot. The pie man’s only got another year in him, if he manages to get out of the sick bay (apparently they had to widen the door when the Duke arrived!).

KEEP THE BULL i would be soo angry if we let him go

we only have 1 senior left back and he is a good’n

we need one more not one less

where are our deals going to come from i wonder all other teams are getting their squads set for next season all we seem to be doing is selling….

and the arguement that owner chairman and his dog are on holiday is complete tosh because if it meant that they couldnt sign players then how are they selling them!!!

I love Enrique and think he’ll be a top class left back for years to come.

But the truth of the matter is, if the club can make a profit by selling him, they will.

KK has never been confident in him, and Sam never played him and he bought him!

i like jose , wouldnt like to see him leave .
some of his critism maybe justified , but the lads so strong for a full back !
ive been impressed on more than one occasion the way he’s held off players and went past them when no player made himself open for a pass from jose .
the lads technical and strong , id much prefer my full backs to stay back aswell rather than use the wing.
    i like a nice steady back 4 , with 2 DM’s covering them at all times .

    P.S Harrier .
you manage to find any proof about ‘the good deal’ we got for emre you were so confident aboout ?

By the way, according to the Turkish press today our £9 million bid for Arda Turan has been rejected because the club want £11-13 million.

No doubt spurs will go and buy him for that price just to annoy us.

Hate Prawn Sarnies, I was reading the earlier blog where someone asked why the name but it was to late to join in. I had it worked out that you were a Chelsea hater as they are the posh sarnie brigade, I didn’t think it was as simple as the fact you hated seafood. Occams Razor I suppose. 🙂

Jose came to the club for more than 6 million. How many full-backs cost that kind of money?

6 mil Full-backs play in teams with 20 mil forwards.

Jose could demand to play but doesn’t. When he was on the bench he would come on and give his all whenever he got the chance. With a run in the side he proved to be very talented and has gotten better and better. If we didn’t have Beye and Carr was at RB we would think of Jose as a superstar.

He’s hard-working, hungry, talented and above all wants to play for the toon.

When Zog said he won’t play LB anymore Jose was on the bench listening to a lad complain about something he was desperate for.

I honestly think he can be one of the true gentlemn professionals, not to mention best LB in the league come a few seasons time(except maybe Clichy who I rank as the best LB I’ve ever seen behind Carlos)

Zigic is tall. Crouch is tall.

Jose is everything we need and everything we’ve talked about at our club.

Haway the toon….Tell them prats to leave the lad alone and let him settle where he belongs…

I’d rather keep the lad but i think if we could get zigic and a few mil for us to go buy shorey with i think we would have a good deal. not bothered either way really, hes looked good at times but had a few shockers, he could be anything really, but reading the gooners @ home programme he seems to have a good attitude and wants to lean and suceed at toon so maybe he deserves his chance.

    good luck to the lad!

dont worry welshtoon spurs are formin spainxI 2, without torres

so i dont think so they wld end up any where near top 4

now zigic, i dont know anything abt him, plus i think jose has improved a lot and wld keep doing so in coming seasons, get an experienced lefback(not riise) maybe shorey and let n’zog play be on left hand side of mid field. i am sure next season there wont be any leaks from that side of field….

Modric will not fit into prem to weak and just dances around the ball, he will get crunched. So will dos santos.

their defence stinks, i dont see them buyin any defenders. dunne stayin at city now. cant understand how a team can buy 1/2 midfielders and all of a sudden welshtoon reckons they can jump 7 places!! lol clueless man!

Forget Zigic we need creative midfielders – bring on Aimar (described by Maradona as the next Maradona – remember the ‘little maestro’ as Solano was called by Maradona) and Turan (better and less injury prone than Emre, quicker and more skillful) forget Dos Santos (Overrated – why do you think Barca are letting him go) and Modric!! Let Spurs fill there boots!!

Spurs bouht in bulk last year and (I’m fairly certain) the year before.

They’ll probably finish mid-table again next season.

I’d be happy with a mid-table finish next year to be honest as long as we can get to the final of a cup. Spurs finished with a point more than us in the league and we anihilated them when Fat Sam wasn’t here (even beat them when the fat pr!ck was here) but they won the Carling Cup and are in Europe.

I think the cup option is the easiest way into Europe at the moment. The Carling Cup is pathetic, Manure, Chelski and The Arse don’t even field a team good enough for their reserves.

I still think we deserve top 6 but realistically, it can be difficult if a crap team like Everton/Man City/Villa go on a run beating the crap in the bottom half then they can easily climb the league without a problem, much like when Arsenal drew something like 5 of their last 6 games to finish 3rd when they had the title wrapped up.

Improve our squad this year and pray for one star player.

We’ve already started getting rid of the deadwood which is good but until we lose that clown Smith we’ll always be fearful he’ll get a game.

Once we’re in the Uefa Cup and have finished at least in the top half we should have a fair bit more joy than this season in the transfer market.

Then again, we’ve got Keegan, he might just re-sign Beardsley and finish 2nd!

I agree we need experience.. but we also need quality young talent!!!!! we need to get rid of the crap and build on the talented!! a good blend of both!!!

forget Zigic and get some real talent “SUPER MARIO, GOMEZ”

Asked to name his worst moment, Quinn said: “I would have have to say after the Newcastle result away.

“To see their chairman Chris Mort come into the boardroom at St James’ Park doing the conga, that was hard to take.”
