Newcastle Will Continue Gary Madine Interest

Carlisle United have signed up their promising young Gateshead-born striker Gary Madine, on a new three-year contract.

Gary Madine – signed 3 year contract for Carlisle

But we don’t agree with most of the reports over the last couple of days, that this will mean the end of Newcastle’s interest in the player.

It’s even possible, though unlikely, that he could sign for Newcastle before the end of August.

The 17-year-old 6’4” youngster from Gateshead (and he’s still growing), has been happy to sign his first professional contract with Carlisle, despite the obvious interest from St James’ Park.

Newcastle could have signed Madine now, and loaned him straight back to Carlisle to continue his development, and we think that may still a possibility later in the summer.

But we think what will happen is that Newcastle will continue to monitor Gary’s progress, and he’s just 17 after all.

If his progress is as rapid as last season, when he played 11 times for Carlisle, there would be a good possibility that Newcastle could try to sign him in the January window.

By signing the player to a professional contract, Carlisle are merely protecting their interest in their player, and there’s certainly nothing wrong with that.

Newcastle are still to bring in their first signing of the season, and we haven’t even signed any of the youngsters that we expect to also arrive over the summer.

We suppose patience is a virtue, but Newcastle fans don’t have much of that left these days, after a couple of terrible seasons for those loyal fans.

I hope Wise and Jiminez can justify the wages we’re paying them! When the hell we start signing some players AND tie down our current squad before we end up with Geremi, Butt and……. well thats it!

Ed,, this is what gary madine said today so i think your article was a waste of time.

He told BBC Radio Cumbria: “It’s nice to have the security and I’m looking forward to next season. I don’t think a move to a big club at this stage of my career would be right for me.

“I will get more of a chance to play here and I think my career will progress better staying at Carlisle at the moment.”

craigg. please dont compare gary madine to peter beardlsley.

    its not like that anymore.

if he was that good he would already be snapped up by a bigger club

Im not comparing them but how can anyone say that we shouldnt be looking at players from the lower leagues

Some great players have started off a tiny clubs Waddle was a non-league player before we signed him

Wow let’s monitor him…keep tabs him every week see how he is getting on..zzzzzzzzzzzz

I am so frustrated by the lack of activity and the fact that we can’t even tempt a geordie lad to newcastle..they must really have a good thing going on in the toon youth can we expect to sign class players when we are being snubbed by players going to wolves and carlisle..this really has been a month i would rather forget..sort it out Ashley or I amongst others will be calling for your head you tight twat.

On the strength of the last few weeks in the transfer market Ashley it seems will not spend or pay big wages so we may as well kiss goodbye to any signings worth talking about.

I think fans will be voting with their feet re season tickets cos I certainly would not pay to watch this current crock of shit.

the transfer window hasnt even opened yet..
just be patient give it some time.
and i dont know who you expect us to sign but the world beaters wont sign for us atm so theres no point wasting time going after them.. maybe its better to look at some of these players.
and as for spurs look how mmuch they spent last year and their league finish?

P.S The only reason Ameobi is not being sold is cos Martins and Viduka could be injured and they will need that lazy prick to play in that spanish tournament and Ashley will not be signing any big name strikers in a hurry.

Here’s dan’s realistic team for the first match of nxt season!! Assuming no injuries.

Bench: Harper, Faye, Edgar, LuaLua, Bullard, Aimar, Carrol

Would swap Butt with Bullard when leading. N’Zogbia was wasted by Big Sam at LB not his position. One of our best attackers. Give him the keys to the engine room and watch him shine nxt season. Butt would play a holding roll N’Zogbia attacking. Would give Carrol a chance if we dont get someone like Anelka. At least five games, I think he deserves it and scored 6 in 6 for reserves, I no that is a different level but he is a goalscorer. I think if he scored one in prem he could really up his game. I would loan the two young keepers again, just not ready for the prem yet and we dont need them yet. We should make a huge effort to land Dunne and show him he is wanted here. Ppl saying he is too old are ridiculous, he is only 28 and in his prime, top Euro teams have CBs who are 5 years older.

now he is under contract you would be looking at 2 million to prise him away.

fork out 2 million more and you can sign das santos from barcelona.

i cant believe how negative people are gettin its unreal…

The only active club in the market is Spurs who seem weirdly over active if you ask me, but im no expert. Theres not gonna be much action til after the euros, live with it and stop slagging off the board. if we’ve made no decent signings come august, then slag away, but i doubt that’ll happen, have faith!

I think we need to wait.

Look around there are not many other deals going through.

Who have Sunderland and Middlesbrough signed? Or Wigan and Fulham? Or the newly promoted teams? Our rivals have not been particularly busy either.

We just need to wait and we will be just sweet guys.

They are the players i think we will sign not who i want us to sign.

Yes youre right Barnes will miss the start of the season so Milner would start.

Shola would play in front of Smith for me, Although if we sign another striker and sell them both then i would be much happier

It’s a pain to see Spurs signing some very bright talents while we can’t even have Owen and Taylor’s new contract signed. Having said that, there’s still two month before the season starts, anything can happen really.

By the way, is barnes really that good? I don’t watch Derby’s game at all. I just tend to lost interests if I know the result of games unless we are playing.

I’d love to see us fax several offers at once, like we did at the end of last summer. Though earlier would be much better.
That seems to be much the better way forward, after deciding who we’d like to realistically sign. By going for one player at a time and getting frustrated it just takes too long.

As pure fun hypothesis, if I were able to choose I’d fax offers now for (I’d like Arteta but don’t think that’s going to be on):

    Turan – 11M
Bullard – 7M (even if he does have the face of a troll, we should have tried to sign him when he left Wigan, as he was underrated then)
    Emana – 5.5M
    Shorey – 3.5M

If some of all of those weren’t accepted I’d try:

    Hunt (Reading) – 5M
    Sidwell – 7M
    Bridge – 5M
    Gudjohnsen – 4M

And take it from there. Only sell Duff OR Zog if we get Turan or a wide player. And don’t sell Milner (okay, Zog is better but Milner’s attitude is spot-on).. Look at a cb and a flair player if need be after that. All this is probably naïve thinking, but last summer nothing much seemed to happen until we sent those faxes.

MA is tight. End of. Somebody tell me differently. The best you can say is “wait and see.” Its just not happening. We are linked to everybody but get nobody. Spurs and Man C along with the top 4 are really trying to buy top players. Our tight owner pretends to be linked with everybody. Massive difference. We’ll be left come August with the leftovers the top teams do not want. Not good enough. Come on Mr Wise do something for your money.

Buy him cheap ,loan him back, if he developes ok, if not nothing lost, end of story.
In regard to Speculation surrounding Gudjohnsen, wants to go to the Hammers, London, Icelandic ownership, hey why not.
Couple of years back would be dissapointed
but he`s getting on , more injury prone etc.
More interested in signing the young Digard from PSG and either Cuellar from Rangers or Bougherra from Charlton.
Like to see KK beat The Mackems to Evans, could be platooned with Beye definately one for the future.
    Whada ya think?

    arda–emana or manuel fernandes–aimar–zog

    owen–martins or zigic

    shorey 3m
    arda 11m
    emana 5m
    aimar 4-6m

manuel fernandes and zigic in swap for enrique
not realistic deal but it would be good
