Carlisle United have signed up their promising young Gateshead-born striker Gary Madine, on a new three-year contract.
Gary Madine – signed 3 year contract for Carlisle
But we don’t agree with most of the reports over the last couple of days, that this will mean the end of Newcastle’s interest in the player.
It’s even possible, though unlikely, that he could sign for Newcastle before the end of August.
The 17-year-old 6’4†youngster from Gateshead (and he’s still growing), has been happy to sign his first professional contract with Carlisle, despite the obvious interest from St James’ Park.
Newcastle could have signed Madine now, and loaned him straight back to Carlisle to continue his development, and we think that may still a possibility later in the summer.
But we think what will happen is that Newcastle will continue to monitor Gary’s progress, and he’s just 17 after all.
If his progress is as rapid as last season, when he played 11 times for Carlisle, there would be a good possibility that Newcastle could try to sign him in the January window.
By signing the player to a professional contract, Carlisle are merely protecting their interest in their player, and there’s certainly nothing wrong with that.
Newcastle are still to bring in their first signing of the season, and we haven’t even signed any of the youngsters that we expect to also arrive over the summer.
We suppose patience is a virtue, but Newcastle fans don’t have much of that left these days, after a couple of terrible seasons for those loyal fans.

Comment #81How would you rate the Portuguese defense then? I mean friendlies barely show anything but that game against Georgia didn’t look promising for the Euros. Neither did our game against Uruguay though.

Comment #82Our defence is easily the best in our group.
We have the ’60 million euro CB pairing’. Our probable starting defence from their latest transfer fees adds up just over 100 million euros.
Bosingwa-Carvalho-Pepe-Ferreira
Then the midfield is obviouly good, but we dont have a good striker. Almeida is good but not prolific. Postiga is shite, Gomes is shite.
Expect to see:
Ricardo
Bosingwa-Carvalho-Pepe-Ferreira
Petit
Deco-Moutinho
Ronaldo Gomes Simao
However id go with:
Quim
Bosingwa-Carvalho-Pepe-Miguel
Petit/Veloso (Undecided)
Deco-Moutinho
Ronaldo Almeida Simao

Comment #83Tom Toon….Why for the past 3-4 years Portugal lacks strikers and always they have extra top midfielders.
They should hire Spaletti as their selector cause he’d fit perfectly in Portugal formation.

Comment #85I’m guessing we’ll start with:
Volkan
Sabri Gokhan Servet Hakan
Hamit Emre Aurelio Tuncay
Mevlut Nihat
(Ye I’m actually thinking Arda might be on the bench for this one, unless Hamit’s injury is still a problem)
How would you rate Scolari as a coach btw? Fenerbahce’s after him and they might just get him after the Euros.

Comment #88Good list Young Malaysia. Depends on our cash situation but I’d like to see crouch as well in the CF list. Campbell’s pace is a worry also, but, its all fund relative…

Comment #89I know Wise isn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea.
However, it was ages and ages ago that he first spotted Gomis and urged KK to go for him at around 7M.
KK dithered, apparently unimpressed on the one time he saw Gomis play and said no.
Now Chelsea want to pay 20M !!
This is ithe only area that KK frustrates me as I feel he has vetoed us signing quite a few promising youngsters and he won’t take any youngsters from Brazil unless they’ve played in Europe. It’s catch 22 and we will miss out on some real gems because of this. Man U have the two 17 year old full back twins from Brazil. It isn’t a problem for Sir Alex.

Comment #90Enough said. If a young Geordie does not want us then we are in the shite. Do not come begging later my lad. We have no guarantee you will make it anyway, and we cannot wait for ever.

Comment #93michael – Some guy called mickmago had never heard of Turan before we got linked with him…it’s fair to say that whole forum is a joke.
Also he seems to think Dos Santos is a decent player. Just because he’s played for Barcelona doesn’t mean he’s not shit.

Comment #94Leo where you based mate? Thanks for the music reco. Don’t expect to get that here but what a video!
In fact, I saw a similar video with an amazing French chick, dance/workout, scantily clad, sounded similar to Justice (this whole retro electronica)that I am desperate to find.
Anyone know what I’m talking about?
