Galatasary star Arda Turan’s agent has said his client is ‘waiting’ for Newcastle to make some move.
Arda Turan – waiting on Newcastle United and being fouled by Gerrard 😀
The Euro 2008 Championships start today, and it was thought that Newcastle wanted to get a deal for the young Galatasary star, before the competition got under way.
His agent Ahmet Bulut said yesterday:
“Arda would love a move to England but we are waiting for Newcastle to make their move.”
“A lot of clubs want him.”
“He is a great player and people will see that at Euro 2008.”
The 21-year-old has already represented his country 19 times even though he doesn’t turn 22 until next January.
In a recent interview on Turkish television Arda talked about a possible transfer to Newcastle United:
“I am not sure what will happen with Newcastle, they are a great club with great fans but we will have to see what happens.”
“Moving to England is something I would like as it would be a big step for me in my career.”
“I am looking forward to the European Championships starting so I can show everyone what I can do and maybe I will speak to my good friend Emre about it while I am here.”
Arda’s countryman and team-mate Emre is currently in the process of moving from Newcastle to Fenerbache, although that deal is still not complete.
Fenerbache, who are Galatasaray’s fierce rivals in Turkey, are still negotiating wages with the 27 year-old Turkish International, but a fee has been agreed between the two clubs.
But it does look like Turan has a good view of the Newcastle club, and that’s probably coming directly from Emre, which would be good.
Come on Newcastle – get a move on – before he plays great for Turkey in Euro 2008.
He would be an excellent first buy for the summer for Newcastle fans, and then we could all watch him play in Euro 2008, and hope he has a stormer.
