Alan Shearer Linked With Blackburn Job

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer is the fans’ choice to become the new manager at Blackburn Rovers.

Alan Shearer – new manager job at Blackburn?

Blackburn’s manager Mark Hughes has now taken over at Manchester City, and from reports it appears that Shearer could be in the mix, along with former Newcastle and Bolton manager Sam Allardyce, and even former England disaster and Middlesbrough boss, Steve McClaren.

While there may be news that McClaren is interested in the job, we cannot see the sensible people at Blackburn considering McClaren for too long.

In all likelihood he will need to resurrect his management career overseas somewhere. He should never have been given the England manager job, otherwise we’d be competing in Euro 2008 right now, but we digress.

Blackburn Rovers former player, Tony Parkes, certainly would like to see Shearer in the job:

“Alan had a lot to say for himself at half-time — to the players and the manager.”

“He was a leader of men and the players would play for Alan.”

“If he brought in an experienced No 2, Alan could be the face and lead the team.”

The Blackburn Rovers’ board will meet this week to discuss the shortlist, which also includes Paul Ince.

We think it will either be Paul Ince or Sam Allardcye who gets the nod, and we would be surprised if Shearer or McClaren have much of a real chance.

Although at some stage Alan will need to get some management experience under his belt, if he is ever to manage Newcastle United, his home town team.

Comments welcome.

I agree Shearer to replace Wise…Then we could have a true Talisman and geordie directing recruitment..not some BossEyed cockney bufoon with no interest in the club or its history.

I want to see wise and co sacked they bring nothing to the club and it has been rumoured that players just don’t like Dennis and his cockney wide boy persona hence no signings…Keegan would do a better job recruiting on his own anyway as he is a proud man with the clubs interests deep in his heart.

3 years and manage newcastle are you for real?

The next manager we need is a top foreign coach that has won trophies not Shearer.

To hell with Blackburn or is this just more paper crap? Why would Shearer manage Blackburn when he said he did not have enough experience to manage NUFC? I think the idea he should replace Wise is a good one. Get him on board at St James – Shearer is no London based suit. He would be a magnet as part of KK’s set-up.

Nick, bbc sport gossip is only place i can find it, but sadly i think Keegan will go 🙁 I think he will not be able to handle the fact that Ashley has given him no responsibility.

It wouldn’t surprise me I expect Keegan to be off soon anyway..he was told he would have funds available to build a team instead he is left to work with Big Sam’s cast offs.

Shearer wouldn’t take Wise’s job, he wants to be a manager. That’s why he didn’t come in as Keegan’s no. 2 back in January. I think he’d be a fool not to take the job personally, the fans there love him and it’s not really a big club so he wouldn’t be expected to do much except fight for a UEFA Cup place.

Good luck to Sheare, but it would be fantastic news if he would replace Wise. I never liked Wise, but in the beginning I thought his appointment might be good for our club. Now I’m starting to get worried, cause alle the players seem not to be interested in moving to NUFC.

The only news we get about our club is:
    1. linked with every player (but nothing happens)
    2. players who snub NUFC (Modric)
    3. what will happen with Barton?
    4. new offers for Owen, Taylor and Oba seem to take ages
    5. players are leaving the club (we already had a small squad but it is even getting thinner; we realesed a couple of players, sold Emre and now Given and Milner will probably go too)

    What is happening to NUFC????

I think it’d be good if Shearer took over at Blackburn – he’d get decent managerial experience and once he’s proved he can do it we’ll nip in and take him off their hands for the second time…

I see Wise is having his say on coaching recruitment apparently over the head of KK.

Is there no good news emanating from the Toon. 🙁

As a Blackburn fan, Im desperate for Shearer to come back. Yes, we will lose him in time if he proves to be any good, but hey, thats they size of club we are and proud of it. Small town, small crowds, no investment, and yet STILL finishing above Newcastle, Spurs, Man City, West Ham etc etc. He would have time and no particular pressure – what better place to learn his trade. Shearer and Newell = the dream team

Perhaps shearer was offered that job b4 wise, and turned it down. If so then he is hardly likely to want it now is he?
Also what is wrong with all you moaning minnies, Have a little patience and keep the faith. We will get some good signings, but not till after the euro’s. Stop judging Ashley, wise and co untill the start of the new season. Then you can either let your mouths go or finally SHUT UP and get behind the NEW team.
