Chimbonda Available For £2M – Let’s Get Him

Sky Sports is reporting today that Pascal Chimbonda is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Pascal Chimbonda – available at £2M

The Frenchman’s agent, Willie McKay (same agent as Joey Barton’s), has confirmed today that Spurs, as expected, are willing to let the full-back leave White Hart Lane and he is already talking to a number of clubs about a possible move.

Willie talked about Chimbonda to Sky Sports:

“I expect Pascal to leave Tottenham this summer,”

“I am speaking to several clubs with the consent of Tottenham and Pascal hopes to get his future sorted soon.”

“I believe Tottenham will be looking in the region of £2M from interested clubs.”

Chimbonda, who was at Wigan Athletic, is a good player, and he can also play on either side as full-back as well as center-back, and for £2M, he would be very good buy for Newcastle United.

It seems that Chimbonda wasn’t going to be at Spurs long, once Juande Ramos took over, and the new manager told Pascal he didn’t want him after the season was over.

McKay continued:

“Pascal has done nothing wrong at Tottenham, he has been a good signing,”

“His reaction during the Carling Cup final was a result of the player being upset at being subbed for the first time in his career at Tottenham.”

“Unless you have scored a hat-trick and are coming off to a standing ovation, you don’t want to be substituted in a cup final.”

“Pascal always gave his best for the team whether he was asked to play at right-back, centre-back or left-back.”

“Also contrary to some suggestions Pascal is one of the fittest players at Tottenham as he looks after himself.”

“Pascal has shown he can do a good job in the Premier League and he is hoping to move to a top club and play in his preferred position of right-back.”

Well, if Newcastle are looking for bargains, they should snap this player up.

He may not be world class, but at 29, he’s proven himself to be an excellent full back with both Spurs and Wigan, and we think he’d welcome a move to Newcastle.

He played 38 times for Wigan with two goals in the 2005-2005 season, and played a total of 65 games for Spurs with 3 goals since 2006.

He has a single cap for France in 2006 and stands 5’11” tall.

Comments welcome.

Would make good backup for Beye. Don’t like the idea of buying from the Yids though and we all know what a whinger he is.

ED this website is amazing and we all love you to bits for putting together the best NUFC website anywhere.

But i cannot agree less with your feelings towards Chimbona and Riise

Neither would add anything different or Special maybe Riise two years ago or Chimbonda if we didnt have the awesome Beye but they would both be coming for money and nothing more, That is the attitude the club is trying hard to remove after years of underachievement and investment in overrated gold diggers.

    LETS NOT!! x 2

He’s absolutely rubbish and an absolute disgrace!! Have you seen the way he treated wigan and the way he conducted himself this season at Spuds. Spuds defence were even worse than ours until Woddy got there. These are the sort of mercenary idiots we should still well clear of. What would that say to a young right back from our academy seeing a mercenary like him taking his squad place. This story should be deleted immediatly…. Deep breath….. I’m ok now 🙂

Not good signing for our future but how can we do better ? I aware cause our lack of activities in transfer market. If we cannot sign some good players only 2 things we can hope are Keegan’s Magic and Luck.

He would want to play ahead of Beye which would be a crime against football!!

I would never have this mercenary in my team….Especially not at the expense of a loyal player like Beye!!

    No chance!

Hard to see him coming. Firstly his age factor. Secondly, he wants regular football, and i cant see KK agreeing to that on either wing.

Has he been totally cleared yet with respect to the bung / irregular finance allegations ? Appy ‘arry was subjected to a dawn raid. The paper chase through Willy McKay lead to Chimbonda who was also “helping police with enquiries” at one point

Kick out Barton. Don’t let Mckay back into SJP.

    I guess that’s a no from me :0)

What do you guys think about signing Shorey and Torosidis, and then letting Enrique go in a straight swap with Manuel Fernandes if Valencia is really interested? I think Manuel Fernandes has always looked quality, and he is creative but works pretty hard. If he played regularly, he would be great in a 3-man midfield. I would also really like Engelaar to beef up our midfield.

I wouldn’t mind if we made a move for Elmander or Gomis to bolster our attack either..

Tom_Toon, I am saying he will beef up our midfield because he is HUGE! I have seen him play for his club too, and I don’t know that I would classify him as either DM or AM. I think he can do both, and I think he would be a great signing. I would jsut say he is a central midfielder. His performance against Italy just finally convinced me that he has the strength, composure, passing, and defensive abilities to do well as a PL midfielder

Chimbonda is a total money grabbing, medalion wearing, backwards cap, pathetic little mammys boy who thinks he is a superstar but is FAR from it to say the least.

If we sign HIM from Spurs, i will be violently sick! 🙁

Tom – Engelaar is a central midfielder (so both) – he is strong defensively in the air and looks good going forward. But only suiteable in a 4-4-2 formation in my view.

    1. Sagna
    2. Richards (When he plays there)
    3. Neville
    4. Beye
    5. Corluka
    6. Finnan
