Sky Sports is reporting today that Pascal Chimbonda is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Pascal Chimbonda – available at £2M
The Frenchman’s agent, Willie McKay (same agent as Joey Barton’s), has confirmed today that Spurs, as expected, are willing to let the full-back leave White Hart Lane and he is already talking to a number of clubs about a possible move.
Willie talked about Chimbonda to Sky Sports:
“I expect Pascal to leave Tottenham this summer,”
“I am speaking to several clubs with the consent of Tottenham and Pascal hopes to get his future sorted soon.”
“I believe Tottenham will be looking in the region of £2M from interested clubs.”
Chimbonda, who was at Wigan Athletic, is a good player, and he can also play on either side as full-back as well as center-back, and for £2M, he would be very good buy for Newcastle United.
It seems that Chimbonda wasn’t going to be at Spurs long, once Juande Ramos took over, and the new manager told Pascal he didn’t want him after the season was over.
“Pascal has done nothing wrong at Tottenham, he has been a good signing,”
“His reaction during the Carling Cup final was a result of the player being upset at being subbed for the first time in his career at Tottenham.”
“Unless you have scored a hat-trick and are coming off to a standing ovation, you don’t want to be substituted in a cup final.”
“Pascal always gave his best for the team whether he was asked to play at right-back, centre-back or left-back.”
“Also contrary to some suggestions Pascal is one of the fittest players at Tottenham as he looks after himself.”
“Pascal has shown he can do a good job in the Premier League and he is hoping to move to a top club and play in his preferred position of right-back.”
Well, if Newcastle are looking for bargains, they should snap this player up.
He may not be world class, but at 29, he’s proven himself to be an excellent full back with both Spurs and Wigan, and we think he’d welcome a move to Newcastle.
He played 38 times for Wigan with two goals in the 2005-2005 season, and played a total of 65 games for Spurs with 3 goals since 2006.
He has a single cap for France in 2006 and stands 5’11” tall.
