Nine Players To Leave Newcastle United

We’d like to see 9 players of our first team squad leave the club in the summer.

Emre – still to agree terms with Fenerbahce

Newcastle United have said they wanted to reduce the wage bill, but we think fans will be surprised there have been so many of the squad move on, so early in the summer.

We’ve already lost six players with news today that we’ve recovered the fee we paid to PSG last June from Lazio, for center-back David Rozehnal.

But we don’t think the departures are anywhere near completed, and we expect 9 players to leave Newcastle this summer.

We’ve lost six and brought nobody in yet, so no doubt the club will be very busy before August 31st bringing in our new players.

We think it’s got to be more than the five players Kevin Keegan has mentioned, because we’ve lost so many players already, from what was a very small squad to begin with.

Here are the players we think will leave the club this summer:

 Player Club Fee Status

1. Carr ? Free Done
2. Ramage QPR Free Done
3. Troisi	? Free Done
4. Diatta	? Free Done
5. Rozehnal Lazio 2.8 Done
6. Emre Fenerbahce 5.5 Pending
7. Ameobi Ipswich? 4.0 Nothing
8. Duff Sunderland? 5.0 Nothing
9. Smith	? 6.0 Nothing

We still expect Ameobi, Duff and Smith to leave the club before the end of August, and if those nine leave, the whole squad could look a lot different in August.

And of course right now we have no idea where Joey Barton will end up, but he could also be on his way out of the club this summer.

We expect the club could get around £23.3M from the outgoing players, and notice many of them are fringe players, and Emre, Duff, Smith, Rozehnal and Ameobi are all on very high wages, given their contribution to the team last year.

We would estimate that those 9 players make up a combined wage bill of around £16M per year for the club, as a best estimate.

So our view on this is that it’s good business by the club but we must start bringing in some new players and not leave things to the last minute.

If anything we’ve been pleased with the quality of players we’ve been linked with, who include Modric, Gomis, Gomez, Larsson, Turan, McGeady and others.

Of course we need to get some of these players in, because as we know we are not too attractive for the top players at least this summer.

That’s still a challenge of course, but we think the club wuill be quite successful in their summer transfer business.

We certainly seem to be well organized on the transfer front, that’s for sure.

Comments welcome.

I think the board has done well in romoving the players that are not performing. I just hope they would do equally good in replacing them.

We are never going to reduce our wage bill by 10 mill, well deff not in this season, and still have a chance ov even the top ten.
Cause if we do get rid of enough players to reduce it by 10. we still need better players who will cost more!!

we must pay loads to our fringe players and reserve players, since we have a small squad but still have the 5th highest wage budget.

Well whats goin on looks like a big shake up and im liking it alot, surely the club has a few deals lineup and sealed already otherwise this is a very risky move, but dont we all just love when theres loads of new faces in the team, defo think smith has to go its a must,i think were all gonna be suprised to see who we get but fingers crossed van der vaart is one of them even though the chances are slim, and its about time we reduced the wage bill !!! good work so far by the club

I dont think its just our reserve players who get overpaid. Smith & Duff must be on 60k each and I bet Cacapa didn’t come over for peanuts.

Yes I know its frustrating with no incoming signing, but they will happen over the next 6-8 weeks and even a couple on 31th August at around 1145pm as usual

No problems with the outgoings – except the like of Carrol who surely must be one for the future. Barton is always going to be in trouble so I wouldnt be too bothered if he went. Smith – enough said – even Ashleys took his name off his shirt.
Whilst lowering the wage bill is good – the new wage structure may well turn off top players as we no longer pay top dollar or offer CL football.
Bit of a catch 22 – pay top dollar for top players but we need CL football to support the high saleries, but without top players we will not get into the CL. This circle couild be broken if we could find a billionaire benefactor ………….

Well Bartons pay cut amounts to £1.5m a year anyway, then add on Duff, Smith and Shola and in total thats nearly £7.5m to get rid of!

Altogether thats nearly £10m on top of what we’ve already got rid of! Alot of money saved, with some cahs coming back to us!

A few off that list won’t need to be replaced with signings, the likes of Diatta and Ramage will just be replaced with young lads making the step up from the academy.

I don’t think our squad is that small either as apart from left back we had 2 players for every position and in some cases more than that when the season finished, our problem was lack of quality in certain positions.

As for Rem’s comment about better players costing more in wages, N’Zogbia is on less than half of what Duff is yet is a superior player, most young players in their early 20’s don’t expect to be on anywhere near the huge wage we end up having to pay the big 4 rejects.

Need to add the jail bird and Geremi to your list Ed. Surely we can find someone who isnt as accurate as Geremi with free kicks and corners. I mean, sombody MUST be able to actually get the damn ball over or round the first defender a few times each game!!!

Geremi hits his defender EVERY TIME!!!!!!!

I think selling or relasing certain players like you have said Ed is DEF the way forward.

I honestly DONT think there is a problem with how much wages we are paying, the PROBLEM IS, the kind of players we are paying these high wages to.

I think the Plan would be very similar to Arsenal in that:

Fringe/Squad Players – Low Wage nothin over £30,000 Per Week

First Team Players – Medium to High Depending on Age and Experience.

WE on the other hand pay our fringe players e.g. Duff, Ameobi, Smith £50,000-£75,000 per week

    Which is a WASTE!!!

So dont think we wont sign good players, we will only hand out BIG wages to the BIG stars

    LIKE Martins, Owen etc etc

and then maybe young players IF we get them like:
Turan, Mcgeady, Gomis will not get TOO much, but will get better wages as they get a better and stronger positions in the team.

What u think? Sound about right???

GraemeR “Whilst lowering the wage bill is good – the new wage structure may well turn off top players as we no longer pay top dollar or offer CL football.”

I think you are missing the point, what NUFC is doing is getting rid of players that do not contribute, but they are on high wages. This does not mean NUFC will not pay top players who are truly contributing what they are worth. This is just good business, something that escaped our club in the Shepherd/Hall days. But I will agree that I am somewhat bewildered by all of the ambiguity and silence emanating from the NUFC front office these days. Is Mort in our out? Who is really in charge of what? Starting to wonder…

On another related note, I think for the most part most of the people on here have expectations that are totally unrealistic about the transfer market this summer. It is a simple fact that because of our poor results over the last two seasons we are in a position where we are always going to be the second or third choice of any player, at least the ones we truly want to sign. We will have to sit and wait and pick over the best of what is left over once the big signings are done for the bigger clubs. Our scouting teams are hopefully working their collective arses off and finding players that are under the radar of other clubs. It is the position we are in and we must face it with both patience and prudence.

5 years! It will takes us at least 3 years to really turn things around, and 5 to compete in the top four. If…….we do it right.

The agent of former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi has revealed a return to the Premiership could be on.
“Villarreal has rejected a British offer of £18 million,” declared Federico Pastorello. “The value of his buyout clause is around £25 million.”

to me this can only be us. yes its from but they are quotes so he has said tht.

Fernando – Why is it pathetic?

Hardly any big money deals have been done yet by any club, Spurs have signed two with Chelsea and Liverpool signing one each, you can include Everton and West Brom taking up the option to sign the players they had on loan but that’s about it.

Here’s a tip for people, get out and enjoy the sunshine rather than spending your days waiting for any sign of transfer activity, especially when a major tournament is on and the majority of players are away on International duty, even the African players are away on World cup qualifiers.

There’s over 2 1/2 months of the transfer window still to go so don’t beat yourself up over it just yet.

De Rossi?! Why would he want to join Toon? No way. I like Ashley’s strategy of reducing the wages, paying the kind of money Newcastle have been doing lately have been ridiculous.

And for sure it has not been value for money…

Bring in hungry young players instead of over-the-hill’ers who just want to collect the salary.
