Emre Injured In Training For Turkey

Well he did manage one game for Turkey, and was their captain in their 2-0 defeat by Portugal last Saturday, but he’s injured yet again.

Emre – will not play today for Turkey today

The Newcastle United midfielder, who is expected to join Fenerbehce shortly, sustained an injury in training and has been ruled out of today’s game with a hamstring tear, and will probably miss the rest of the tournament.

And head coach Fatih Terim admitted his skipper will be a difficult player to replace.

“Unfortunately, Emre is not going to play. We sent him for a scan and the result was a tear of three to four centimeters.”

” We are not happy about this but there is nothing we can do about it.”

“Not having Emre is not just a question of having one player out and bringing another one in. The role he plays is not that simple.”

This must be frustrating for the player himself, but will come as no shock to Newcastle fans.

Emre never played for Newcastle since early February due to injury, and while he’s a very talented player, he suffers lots of injuries.

After their 2-0 defeat on Saturday, we’re hoping Terim will make some changes to the Turkey side that plays hosts Switzerland today.

We would like to see Arda Turan, so Newcastle fans can see what he’s made of, but it may be difficult for Turkey to qualify for the next round now.

I feel sorry for him, but will feel more sorry for us if it means Fener dont want to sign him now! – maybe it will encourage Turan to join us though…

    from NUFC.COM
    Emre away? not quite

Although pictured wearing a Fenerbahce shirt amid confirmation that the Turks had agreed a fee for Newcastle midfielder Emre, no formal announcement of the transfer has yet been forthcoming.

The player is currently away at Euro 2008 but after playing in Turkey’s opening game against Portugal had a scan which revealed a hamstring tear.

He’ll be sidelined for Turkey’s grudge game against the Swiss on Wednesday and is a big doubt for their final group fixture, against the Czech Republic.

In an interesting development, news also broke on Tuesday that Zico – Emre’s potential new boss at Fenerbahce – had resigned. Watch this space.

Ian it defies logic I know, but surely with this guy’s injuries he’s due a prolonged playing period sometime soon. Just a feeling that if he leaves he’s gonna have a blinda.

Never mind the rest of the tournement, he will not play for the next 6 months with that injury!

A 3-4 CM tear in his hamstring! I cant see the Fenerbace transfer happening now as that is a nasty injury

great, another problem in the transfer window, all we need. Our midfield has to improve beyond recognition otherwise we are going nowhere.

It’s all going a bit pear shaped, but it’s only one set back. Looks like Shola will be going and Rozza’s permanently signed for Lazio.

If Emre doesn’t go it’s not the end of the world. If he stays and manages to shake off his injuries he will still be an asset. Have to wait and see I suppose.

why did we never try and send him to a specialist like we did keiron dyer, remember weeks and weeks of constant injuries then he went to the specialist and was near enough fixed till he moved to west ham and had his legs snapped

if he has to stay something similar needs to be done

Or maybe he’s just trying to skip this year’s rounding up for the military service and attempt to delay it for another year claiming he suffered “an unfortunate injury” ;p Ya never know.

And yeeeeee Arda’s up for tonight! lol, I hope he scores a hat trick so you guys pay up nicely! We can’t even buy a coach and have been coachless for 4 months now lol

i see this as a positive, he’s good WHEN fit, and as suggested above, perhaps he needs the treatment that some of the other boys have had in the past to get it sorted once and for all. He played well the other night and showed some great vision from a deep lying role. He would be a good role model for arda and someone who could convince him to come as he loves it up here! Nice little left sided partnership i reckon once fit!
