There are more reports coming out today that Joey Barton has indeed turned down Newcastle’s offer, of keeping him in a job if he accepts a 50% wage cut.
Joey Barton – not interested in Newcastle deal
If Joey has indeed refused the deal, then we don’t think it’s even worth dragging the club through even more bad publicity, with his next trial (alleged assault against Dabo) starting at the end of June.
We think Newcastle should do the honorable thing, which they probably should have done as soon as he was initially found guilty last month, and sack him forthwith.
Retain his registration, so we can recuperate our transfer costs for him, but this will more than likely be a long drawn-out affair.
We’ll have to see if some other club is willing to pay him £60K/week for his services.
Certainly the sordid affair with Muto and cocaine, is still going on with Chelsea, even now, and only last week Chelsea demanded 12M euro from the player, to cover their transfer cost losses.
If this news is true Joey, has proved that he’s not really interested in serving Newcastle – so sack him – now.
Now is the time for Newcastle to cut the cord, and we’ll pretend it was just a bad dream for the club.
We need some loyalty at Newcastle, and obviously Joey isn’t willing to give any of that – even though his position right now is a lot more serious than he seems to realize.
We’ve paid him £3M in wages over the last season, and he’s cost us millions of pounds in bad publicity for our club. He deserves the sack.
Comments welcome.

Comment #161He reminded me of Terry Hibbit. He would link up in this midfield Arda- Sinclair-Brock but not in wet weather.

Comment #163i dont think anyone was watching that game to see how turkey played. nufc supporters from here (US) to effin tawain had their eyes glued on that game for this one word: TURAN.
passion, baby, PASSION. and he has it. i dont know if some of you have been watching MUFC or NUFC but to say turan had a dismal or even ok game is ridiculous. he was all over the field but not a damien duff, straggling new born lamb all over the field. he was incredible.
and i think it’s time we as a club and as supporters realize the difference between working hard and working hard with positive effect. milner needs to go. if we can really get 7m out of him i will go to sleep laughing.
we all know top clubs will be after turan now, so nows the time to really see if Mr Ashley actually cares about this club. these forums have to trickle down to someone of matter and we’ve all been screaming for it, so, show us what’s up, Mike!!

Ashley’s going to have to come up with his full asking price if not a little bit more!!
IMO when arda got on the ball he showed his potential and his goal was fab!! but I felt the turkish team played more on the right, not allowing him to show more!!

Congrats, so I see you don’t live in Turkey but have an obvious affinity too Turkey and Gala with an equally obvious dislike too Fener. But you seem to have a great interest in NUFC so is my assumption correct that you live in the TOON?

Comment #169yeah Turan was great today, not as magic as some of you make him out to be, but he was very solid, almost every turkish attack originated form him and a nice goal too.
would love it if we get him….love it.

Comment #170Nah mate, I’m in Loughborough 🙂 Don’t get me wrong btw, I hate Fener’s guts but I’m rather proud of their achievement in Europe this year. They’re quality I have to admit. But they just love to throw crap at us even though we won the title without a coach, without foreign players and what not.
Anyways I’m just surfing around here cuz I love seeing football discussions and this place is really active. I’ll be of the first to buy his shirt if you guys do buy him!

Comment #171Barton to his agent “Don’t you know who I am? Do they know who I am (rant rant) I’ll sue them”
What a waste of space he is IF there is any truth in the stories, get rid of the little waster and sue him!!!!!!
As for Arda, he seemed ok, just a shame we hadn’t already wrapped the deal up…… but maybe we have! Who knows, the press certainly don’t.

Comment #172So you dont really have any affinity to the TOON?
I hope we do sign Arda and get another convert, in yourself.
Congrats to you for both Gala and Turkey.
I have enjoyed reading your translations regarding the Arda + NUFC links, many thanks.
If we do sign Arda I will buy that NUFC shirt with his name on the back.

Comment #179A good game means little really IMO. It will affect our chance, but the damage is surely limited.
Most top clubs would have already known Arda well despite those who are about to sack their scouts.

Comment #180Getting back to the Barton issue; NUFC knew he could be jailed when they bought him,so does anyone know if there were safeguards built into the deal ie, a lessening of the fee paid to Man City etc?

Comment #181Joe Aussie-great point! Whoever was involved in putting together Barton’s contract should either be sacked or at least never involved in negotiations on contracts ever again if those safeguards were never put in place. They knew the potential of the deal going belly up if Barton stepped off the deep end, and didn’t it happen!
Incompetence if true. If not, and those safeguards are in place Barton and his agent haven’t a leg to stand on.
And HP Sandwiches-that’s some list. Can’t say that any are, but even if some are s#(t, you can bet if you throw it all against a wall, some of it will stick! Can hardly believe we’ve been linked to that many. For me, my “top five” would be Torosidis, Turan, VDV, Gomis and Coloccini.

Comment #184Its not the club’s right or responsibility to punish Barton once it is in the hands of the courts.
If we get rid, its to protect the club’s interests. Some on here need a dose of reality – I can’t believe Ashley is that daft to sack a 6 million pound player just to ‘serve him right’. Likewise loyalty has nowt to do with it – ‘he should show loyalty by accepting a 50% wage cut’??? He’ll accept it if he thinks it is the best deal he’s going to get. And since he has turned himself from a 6 million player into a 2,5 million player, it may well be that it is the best he’s going to get. That is the only issue here – market value. It just so happens it is also a satisfying ‘punishment’ 0f 6million quid over the duration.

Comment #186Barton’s even dumber than i thought. What, he expects that NFC should be paying him 50k a week while he’s sitting in a jail cell doing time for a crime he committed. What a tool. An offer of a 50% paycut is unbelievably generous. If he was playing football here in Aus. (AFL) his contract would have been terminated immediately after he was convicted (or possibly even before), especially considering his prior history.
I think Fat Sam should repay the club for the financial loss too, as it was his idiotic decision to recruit the twerp in the first place, despite what common sense told us…

Comment #187It is difficult to put any credit on this story as the facts are not stacking up.
NUFC would not ask him to take a pay cut for the following reason, JB has another court case coming up and one which could put him behind bars for a year or two. Now i do not think that NUFC would negotiate anything with JB until the outcome of this trial is over. Why risk paying even a £1000 a week for a couple of years for someone in jail, when his contract can be terminated without any form of compensation. So why would NUFC seek to get a 50% reduction in his salary. Yes if he stays out of jail because he then has to prove himself worthy of a contract, but somehow this will not happen. The sums do not make financial sense at this moment. Another story of devilment by the media i think.
