Birmingham Try To Keep Sebastian Larsson

News today that Birmingham City, newly relegated to the Championship for the second time in three years, have warned Newcastle United off their Swedish midfielder Sebastian Larsson.

Sebastian Larsson – Birmingham don’t want to sell

As we reported earlier in the week, reports in Scandinavia suggest that Newcastle have already offered Birmingham around £4.2M for the former Arsenal youngster.

Larsson is currently with Sweden at the European Championships, and has been offered a five-year contract by Birmingham.

But despite interest in the 23-year-old, following Birmingham’s relegation from the Premier League, the St Andrew’s board don’t want to sell.

Birmingham Chairman David Gold said yesterday:

“We don’t want to sell Seb, he’s part of our plans for next season and I think he’ll be loyal to the badge,”

But the cat’s out of the bag now about Newcastle’s interest, and Sebastian will be interested in taking a step up, and getting back to the Premier league, and maybe Europe in a year or two.

Larsson has already said he thinks the Premier League is the best in the world, and for one so young he will be keen to get back playing in England’s top league.

We think Newcastle will be a very attractive move for the player, and it will be difficult for the Blues to keep their player happy playing Championship football, for somebody so good.

It doesn’t surprise us at all that Birmingham will not be happy with this, but they are hardly negotiating from a position of strength in the Championship.

We’d just love to see Larsson at Newcastle, just love it, as Kevin would say. 😀

Comments welcome.

This should’nt be a problem…..Birmingham make Newcastle look boring with all there boardroom happenings!

They are very unstable, with ownership concerns, boardmembers being arrested, owners slagging off players on national TV and relegation to boot……

Come and lead the quite life up at the Toon Seb!

Yep he would replace Milner not Pennant

Pennants possible arrival is another example of the incompetance of our ” Recruitment team” sacking one jail bird with an attitude problem and bring in another!

Keep up the good work Denzil

Both he and his agent has said many times that Sb will not stay in Birmingham and play Championship football… So his only option is Newcastle… =)

Guys just think how amazing it would be if we got rid of all these players (milner, ameobi, duff etc) and we are all feeling down, and then when we least expect it NUFC announce the signing of 5 or 6 qaulity players like Van der Vaart, turan, gomis etc. Just think how amazing that would be!

I know im probably dreaming, but i still ahve faith in wise and co. They know what they are doing and they will be working on signing good players. I think we will all be happy when the new season starts.

Free free to chastise if im wrong!

I cant see why Keegan being on holiday has anything to do with the lack of signings.

Remember its Wise and co who now doing all that work. Yes i know KK has the final say on comings and goings, but was’nt that done already when the hit lists were swapped.

I’m sure KK could put down his pimms and pick up the phone and say ” Hi their my old mate Wisey, you what youve got Arda for 10m, well eye me old son go on and sign him”

    Thats modern technology for you.

Sebastian Larsson is class! He is better than Geremi in freekicks and is rated as the most accurate freekick taker in the premiership! He even scored 2 againts us in the FA Cup when we lost to Birmingham 4-1!

What is going on here, have i tuned into BCFCBLOG.COM….or are these Brummies so bored with life in the championship already they’re raining on our parade.

However i understand the Brum being pleased with their teams victory over us in the FA cup, after all i still go to sleep watching Albert make Schmiechel look average with ‘that’ chip.

Never mind back in the real world chaps and that unfortunately means While your playing Swansea next season, we on the other hand are playing the likes of……Hull!

is it really possible to rag on newcastle, when birmingham is clearly a second class, top 10 reject haven who can’t stay in the premier league for the life of them. c’mon! how many times do i have to hear “Birmingham’s relegated” “theyre promoted, oh wait, nevermind.”

you mayve beat us 5-1 awhile back, but keep in mind what league youre playing in RIGHT NOW, and keep in mind what league your counterparts (and that’s being nice) NUFC are playing in RIGHT NOW.

You’ll always be in Villa’s shadow, dont start sh*t with us because now you really have nothing to compare with your far superior neighbors.

    have fun next year, gentlemen

What intrigues me is that you in the North East seem to believe that a move to you is a career advancement for Seb. What he has to consider is, who will be your manager in September when KK gets booted out, who the next one will be after him and is it really in his interests to live in an area were the natives can’t speak or even understand English.
Believe me, Championship football is far more appealing to him than life with you underachieving believers in ‘our day will come’.

OK lads lets look at the facts

The fact is that we have qualified for Europe 11 times in our 15 years in the premiership

shows that our day comes a fair bit your brummie scum

If we want him we could click our fingers and take him as your club are in no position to argue, The only thing your disgusting eye sore city ever did of note was host gladiators

If were meant to be deluded then what on earth are you!

Brum have Never finished in the top half of the premiership, No major trophies or minor trophies in god knows how long and youre in the 2nd flight AGAIN and youre criticizing our club!

Get a life and get off our blog

How can anyone from Brum call Newcastle? It is the biggest dive of a city i’ve ever been to.

The fact that NUFC has had its fair share of ups and downs lately – they still represent a far better choice. So, i’m afraid if we want your players, they aint much you can do about it.

That’s life unfortunately!!! So grow up and stay on your own blogs if you have nothing mature to say.
