Ipswich Are Still Interested In Ameobi

The Ipswich Evening Star is reporting that Ipswich Town are still interested in Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi.

Shola Ameobi – away on honeymoon

This seems a very creditable report, and Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton has confirmed Ipswich have indeed made an enquiry about Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi.

No bid has yet been made yet because Shola was married last weekend, and he is away on his honeymoon, and Ipswich do not want to interrupt that – good call.

It’s also said that they have not made any bid yet, and would like to wait until Shola returns to England, so that Magilton can have a talk to him.

Jim Magilton said:

“We have made an enquiry about Shola but not a bid.”

“The lad has just got married and has been away on his honeymoon which we have not wanted to interrupt.”

“When he gets back I’m hoping to be able to speak to him personally.”

“A lot of things so far have been done through intermediaries but until I can speak to the lad myself we can’t move on.”

“There is no doubt he has a lot of ability, and if he shows the desire and the passion to want to come here, then we will make an offer and move to bring him in.”

So it looks from that last sentence that if Shola wants to move to East Anglia, the Ipswich Town club would like to take him.

We think it would be a good move for both parties, because Shola will be able to score goals in the Championship.

Ipswich are an excellent football club, with a good ground at Portman Road, that seats 30,300. It’s also a very good area of England to live in – are you reading this Shola? 😀

But seriously, it has to be an exciting time for both Shola and his bride, that he will be moving to another club and another area of England, which should hold some good opportunities for him.

We’ll have to wait until Shola returns, and then pick this story up from there, but it looks like things are still open, at least as far as Ipswich are concerned.

Comments welcome.

    Wake up Ameobi !

Ipswich will be promotion chasing next season, far better make your name again in an up and coming team, even if its in the championship.

Has anyone been watching the expert opinions of Mr Allardyce on the Spain match.

He was praising the spanish for playing attractive football and Sweden for every player being comfortable in their positions.

Well Sam you would still be in a job if you had let the team play remotely watchable football and didnt play everyone out of position.

    What a clown!

agree with craigg but on the ameobi point dissapointed to see him go fair enough he is not good enough but he is a geordie who cares passionately about this club and i think that where ever he goes it would be a disgrace if people did not remember the good things he done for our club like scoring against barcelona and setting shearer up for that goal against portsmouth (201) sad to see him go but it is what is best for the team

Ameobi looked very good playing Hartepool in Pre-Season and maybe that is the level he is at. I still think he should join Roeder at Norwich he scored roughly 1 goal every 2 games for him. Whatever happens he isnt good enough for us.

Dont know his value, ask Marat that.

People say he and a few others like Arshavn, Pavyluchenko need to leave Russia because they arent developing because they are at a much better level than the russian league.

We could easily get him i recon, well he’d want to come, not sure about CSKA selling because they are stinking rich.

    They are reporting 6m!!!

IF this is true, then thats far to much.

However having been thinking about Chimbonda and he is very versitile, can be cover for RB, LB and CB! Thats just one player.

But would he be happy on the bench?

Could well be, as we’re desperate to get rid of a player or two here at SJP , i’m sure Spurs would like shot of Chimbonda…..and may just be wishful thinking on their behalf!

And i thought i found our first signing!

    As poor as it was….

I have heard that Newcastle have agreed or at least offered £6m for Pascal Chimbonda, and are now apparently in talks with him. It was on some Tottenham Hotspur blog, so I don’t know how accurate it is. Although I’d prefer other players than Chimbonda, and £6m sounds a bit to much for me.

The reason is because England play shite hoofball and lack players with flair. Russia play as a team and play some beautiful football…not so hard to believe really

Russia would easily get into the quarter finals if they weren’t missing two of their most important players. Pogrebnyak and arshavin

In fact the only reason Russia didnt score more against Spain was because those two were missing. Spain are currently overrated in this competition and they were very lucky to win today. Their two strikers rely too heavily on their pace and they will struggle against the better teams. Spains defence is shite without Puyol, If only Ibra was left on Sweden would have probably won the game.
