Newcastle seem to have been linked with a lot of Tottenham players in the summer.
Younis Kaboul – good young player but worth £6M?
Only this morning, we reported on continual rumors that Newcastle were interested in Spurs’ 27 year-old central defender Anthony Gardner.
We have also been linked more than once with Michael Dawson, the former Nottingham Forest youngster, and only yesterday there were reports that full-back Pascal Chimbonda was in talks with Newcastle.
Today’s Sunday Sun is reporting Newcastle are now really after 22 year-old French youngster and central defender Younes Kaboul.
We think what’s probably going on in the media, is that they are aware of talks going on between Newcastle and Spurs, but are not clear as to which players are being considered by the Tyneside club.
This looks to us a much more attractive player for Newcastle, but Spurs are asking £6M, which seems a little high for the promising 6’3″ tall youngster.
He’s still young, so has his best years ahead of him, yet he has already appeared 21 times for the London club with 3 goals, since joining Spurs from Auxerre last year.
Kaboul was born in Saint-Julien-en-Genevoisof, France, and is of Moroccan origin, and joined Auxerre in 2004.
He played as a regular for the French club from when he was just 19 years old, and played 52 times for Auxerre, scoring 3 goals.
He has so far played 10 times for the French Under-21 team, and we think this is the type of youngster we need at Newcastle.
He will only get better.

Comment #2Yep Kaboul was immense in france, Spurs missuse him and to add to that he can dribble out of defence and not hump it upfield.

Comment #6Meanwhile, the Sunday Sun under- stands Newcastle are in talks with Tottenham over a deal for central defender Younes Kaboul.
But United — who envisage spending big money on Gomis and the likes of Arda Turan, Andrei Arshavin or Rafael van der Vaart — are reluctant to meet Spurs’ £6m asking price for the 22-year-old.
The Magpies have been offered Benfica’s Brazilian centre-half Luisao, but won’t be doing business at a quoted price of £12m.
this little paragraph gets me v.excited with the names we are being linked with. i would pay what it takes for all of them and do business on all right now, we would be in uefa cup no matter what next year with them players

Comment #7oh c’mon, Kaboul yes, i’d take him, but let’s stop dealing with the bloody yids and be more concerned with buying players to trash them again next season.

Comment #8I really can’t see us splashing out on anyone major this summer. Its just not going to happen – no european football – no london location. Not willing to pay high wages.
Portmouth, spurs, everton, west ham are all above us in terms of pulling power.
Even fulham have the advantage of location.
Our only hope is to find a decent youngster on the up.
Sounds negative but all these stories linking us to players are just crap. But hey, they get hits on websites which in turn generate advertising revenue so what the hell.
Why buy a spurs reject.

Comment #10ive got a question please feel free to respond
Does anyone think mike ashley (cashley) is taking advantage of tyneside?
1. he is a proven buisnessman
2. no proven buisnessman invests in something unless he is going to make a profit out of it
3. He has inflated ticket prices by 10% even though its a given they were going to rise average was around 6% and we all know the geordies are going to rock up to everyday to support kevin keegan
4. he appointed kevin keegan in the transfer window and no players?????? caused a huge stir in interest
5. hes making a wage cap; lowering expenses increasing revenues?!!!!
6. hasnt spent a cent on big transfers yet(please prove me wrong cashley) he is likely to make 1 or 2 big transfers to keep everyone turning up (makes even more money)
7. investing on the youth system- now while we all know this is a good thing he may just be buying young players in the hope that they prove themselves so he can sell them for an inflated price in a few years time very smart buisness
8. Newcastle united is one of the top 20 richest clubs in the world and while i know he cleared the clubs debt maybe he forsaw that he could make it back in less than 3 years the way he is going about it!
I dunno guys i love the toon i just dont want us to turn into a gold mine for a rich fat sod. I just hope we sign gomis, arshavin, turan and collochini then ill shut my big mouth

Comment #13GG7- That gets me excited as well. I think all of this Chimbonda talk is an absolute load of hogwash. Just Willie McAay, excuse spelling, trying to fill up the pockets of him and his greedy client. I think that the new management know who they are after and although KK is sunbathing, Wisey and co. appear to be flat out at the minute. Ashley is NOT tight, remember Fat Freddy spent money that wasn’t his to spend on some absolute crap. We had a £16M offer turned down on Modric remember. When the right players who want to come here spring up, he will continue to splash his hard earned just like he has so far. All of you so called ‘Supporters’ have alot to be thankful to Ashley for. Remember our club was on it’s arse when freddy bailed out!

Comment #18The policy of signing top 4 rejects hasn’t proved to be a great success, so signing mid table rejects would signal a new low. I don’t think it will happen because it makes no sense to sign players who the club wants rid of, it shows they aren’t good enough. I don’t want any players from Spurs and especially not buying a defence that was worse than ours last year.
Lennon would be alright but there are far better options and generally we should be aiming at players that clubs want to keep, like Larsson from Birmingham.

Comment #25Kaboul is being loaned to a premiership team next season, probably portsmouth. he isnt for sale. Newcastle have agreed a fee with spurs for tom huddlestone. I dont know the fee. Apparently tom doesnt want to go but is being forced out.
Have a quick look on spurscommunity if you dont believe me. They have a couple of people who are close to kelmsley who post all the info they get. I am not a newcastle fan myself, was just looking on here to see if anybody else knew. adios.

Comment #31I see NUFC.COM are linking us with Pool younster Guthrie.
States Bolton have tried and failed to sign him, this is due to him coming to us. Prehaps as a swap for Milner.
I bloody hope this is not true, firstly i wouldnt want to lose Milner and secondly if we are to sell him would want cash only £7m plus. Its the only way we could replce him with quality, whether that be SWP or someone else.
Also why would we want Guthrie, correct me if i’m wrong but isnt he a left winger. Why would we need another left winger?
We have Duff and Zog
Does this mean we’re getting shot of one if not both, especially seen as we have an apparent bid in for Arda!
Imo i would rather have Arda and Zog, than Duff and Guthrie….now that would be upsetting!

Guthrie + £5mil will do me fine.

Comment #33Have to be honest Tom did see much of him last season……did really enjoy Boltons football!
I’ll take your informed opinion on him. I thought after all he was a left winger.
I do believe we need 3 midfielders (wingers too) so if he really is as good as your saying, then i dont see why he cant fill in one of our holes in midfield.
I’ll watch this space and see what unfolds

why we need another young CB anyway?…we have Taylor, Edgar, Kadar….we only need one top quality CB
as for Guthrie, also no thx…decent player but not good enough for us…

Comment #35Kaboul, great in the FM. Yes, I’ve signed him and he is an important part of my squad.
But Fxxx off…I was already shocked when we were linked with Gardner, and now Kaboul? Are we the clearning lady of Spurs?
