Does Milner Really Want A Move To Liverpool?

June 15th, 2008 by Ed Harrison · 181 Comments

News in the News of the World today that Newcastle United winger James Milner is said to want to move to Liverpool.

james-milner-321.jpg

James Milner - wants to move to Liverpool?

The news is that James has appealed to Newcastle not to block his dream move to Liverpool.

We don’t know if this is true since only last week he was saying how much he was looking forward to next season at Newcastle United under Kevin Keegan.

But there again it’s Sunday again, and it’s the News of the World.

We’re not sure moving to Liverpool is a dream move for any player unless you’re at the very highest level.

Craig Bellamy said it was a dream move for him a couple of years ago and lasted one season, and Peter Crouch, Jermaine Pennant, John Arne Riise and even Steve Finnan are now finding it hard to get a game on Anfield.

In our active poll, on what Newcastle fans feel about keeping Milner, with just 261 votes in, 69% want him to stay. If you haven’t yet voted please do so on the right.

If it is true that James wants to leave, Newcastle can always try to get some good players in return.

Maybe Peter Crouch and/or Steve Finnan, both of whom we think would make our squad stronger.

We also like Jack Hobbs, the young 19 year-old 6′3″ center-back, who looked solid when we saw him play for the Reds a couple of times last season.

We’d need to work out a player swap deal and who would pay the extra cash.

Comments welcome.

Not sure if anyone else will agree but I think theres very little point posting anything regarding the News of the World rumours on a Sunday. Utterly a waste of everyones time.

    God he is ugly !

  • 3 Danny // Jun 15, 2008 at 17:12

Bentley coming out and saying he wants to leave Blackburn may be doing us a favor though…

Liverpool are skint but if they can afford Bentley then they will go for him ahead of Milner

  • 4 DC // Jun 15, 2008 at 17:12

NOTW - says it all tbh..

  • 5 robhorseman10101 // Jun 15, 2008 at 17:15

The story appeared in more than one paper, the express, the mail and the people all had it. So its probably been leaked by someone involved. Milner for Pennant sounds like a good deal for me, but then I’m a Liverpool fan. Milner is more cosistent and more hard-working and scores more goals. Pennant can be brilliant, but not often enough.

  • 6 catawbamag // Jun 15, 2008 at 17:17

They wont offer up Crouch in a deal. They already have 10mil on the table from portsmouth, and I dont want Riise or Pennant. Riise has been crap the past 2 seasons and Pennant is a tool.

Our midfield is bad as is, we dont need to be sending Milner away.

Regardless whether he wants out or not. I wouldnt sent him to Ratpool.

    Get rid

  • 8 euanpolo // Jun 15, 2008 at 17:33

I hope the rumours aren’t true! We need to keep hold of the few good players we have and focus on bringing in quality like Cuellar, Turan, Van Der Vaart and Arshavin.

  • 9 geordiekk // Jun 15, 2008 at 17:41

Bolton officials have made it known that they expect to be unsuccessful in their attempts to sign midfielder Danny Guthrie - as the player is coming to SJP. this is on nufc.com now

  • 10 Hadji // Jun 15, 2008 at 17:48

There are 2 reasons why he wants Liverpool
    1-Team from his dreams
2-Lack of ambitions from our club
I hope ts the first one imo.

  • 11 Andy1 // Jun 15, 2008 at 17:50

He’s not good enough f0r Liverpool - they’ll probably get Bentley.

  • 12 Julio Geordio // Jun 15, 2008 at 17:50

Liverpool will go for Bentley over Milner.

The thing is with Milner, he just goes about his business on the field in such an unassuming way he sometimes is overlooked by people.

I believe he should stay as he is a superb team player. His work ethic and commitment are second to none. After they way the club messed him about a couple of seasons ago you have to say you wouldn’t have blamed him for wanting to leave. But instead, he got his head down and produced consistent good performances.

He isn’t going to grab the headlines as much as other players, and he hasn’t got the flair of Bentley. But you know he is never going to let the club down and that is exactly the type of player we need to keep the upturn on the club going.

Hopefully it is just another NOTW ’story’.

  • 13 iain // Jun 15, 2008 at 17:59

id be gutted if he was going to team who we were going to be competing against for league position etc.

but if liverpool think they will compete for the league by signing milners then there in for a big shock.

imo people love milner becuase he works hard and is a good lad not becuase hes an outstanding player, given money i reckon it would be easy to find a better quality player, but on a budget you would strugle to find a better squad player.

  • 14 Hadrian // Jun 15, 2008 at 18:03

he’s got no loyalty to us , why wouldnt he want a move to a campions league club?

  • 15 Nick Dryden // Jun 15, 2008 at 18:12

I’m far more worried about these Spurs rejects being linked to us. I think that Paul Kemsley guy has way too much influence over Ashley.
Getting 7M for Milner would be great, but certainly no swap deals other than Babbel or Kuyt.
Arshavin, Turan, Van der Vaart, Larsson, Gomis, Sahin, Chermitti is where we should be doing our business.
Outs should be Duff, Smith (certainly ahead of Shola), Geremi, Cacapa, Viduka.

  • 16 Koparoma // Jun 15, 2008 at 18:17

Looks like his agent or someone is pushing hard to earn his commission…

Crouch would be a good call as Viduka is not getting any younger - and he’d link up brilliantly with Owen… but Harry looks keen and will probably pay at least £10m now that he’s in Europe.

Pennant is not much of a risk - he’s been pretty good over the last season or two - but like Crouch - needs to feel as though he’s wanted rather than always being on trial.

    Riise is heading to Roma.

Guthrie is pretty good and Liverpool may well regret not keeping him. He’s too good for Bolton!!

Better to have players wanting to prove themselves rather than want-aways.

  • 17 steven1979 // Jun 15, 2008 at 18:21

BYE! I dont want to see u again in black n white!!!

  • 18 Ericles // Jun 15, 2008 at 18:21

Simple. If he wants Liverpool and not NUFC sell him for 7m. If he wants NUFC then stay and develop with us. Either way - let us hear it from him and the club and NOT the gutter press.

  • 19 steven1979 // Jun 15, 2008 at 18:24

Kiesling move to galatasaray! who’ve said gala have no money and will sell Arda..Ridicilous…

julio geodio hit the nail on the head there that he never lets people down works hard and showed some loyalty to us when he put his head down and worked hard top lad, if he leave then he deserves to play at a high level, if he stays then i will also be pleased because he is a good footballer

haha! some lad i work with was in marbella, and he seen d.bentley on thursday night, was drunk as a lord and was trying it on with some woman and she threw a drink in his eyes, bentley pulled off the classic footballers comeback he said, “DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM” lol. What a knob

  • 25 The Entertainers // Jun 15, 2008 at 18:54

If i was Milner i would probabley think the same. Hes no Newcastle fan after all.

We bought him and have shipped him out to Villa, nearly sold him to Boro and are not coming out and telling Pool where to go!

Well sod it, if you dont want me i’ll go and play Champions league football……sounds like a no brainer to me.

Is there anyone at SJP these weeks, i know its holiday season, but you think someone would be able to just put out a few sound bites, other than the clubs insider of course. I’m not talking, every other rumour needs to be responded to like in FFS days, but hello anyone there at all?

Sounds like a good time to ran sack the place if you ask me, no body there……and before any smart alec says it, i know theres no bloody silver ware to nick!

  • 26 GSfan // Jun 15, 2008 at 19:09

steven1979, we just got kiesling thanks to our new coach. Well we didn’t even get him yet and he has played down all rumours…!

Anyways ye we’re poor as hell! 40m in debt while our rivals are announcing 65m euro transfer budgets and 301m dollar incomes per year… We couldn’t pay our players’ wages for 2 months. Besides who the hell is Kiesling? (Would anyone rate him? I don’t really know much about him to be honest) The board promised us big names and this is what we get. If they do sell Arda like this there’s going to be a riot.

  • 27 Owen_10 // Jun 15, 2008 at 19:10

I like milner but if the news is true that we are leading the chase for arshavin then im afraid he can go! if l’pool are really interested though i think we should get them to go a bit higher than the 7mil price i have heard quoted

GSFan, spurs had a bid turned dow for him.

  • 36 GSfan // Jun 15, 2008 at 19:23

Btw just a few pieces of news on Newcastle targets in the Turkish media these days.

Besiktas officially confirmed to the stock market that they have made a serious bid for Nuri Sahin.

And Besiktas are also after Gomis, but I wouldn’t take that rumour seriously. However it seems every club in the world is being linked with Gomis meaning you guys probably wouldn’t have much of a chance if he really is going somewhere else especially after having signed that new contract :S

  • 37 The Entertainers // Jun 15, 2008 at 19:24

I’m not sure about Big Sam’s comments.

He said he has taken every club hes been at forward. Really?????

However he did say Newcastle was an unfortunate experience, so thats contradictory then.

Contradictory sums up his time at Newcastle for me.
He said he doesnt play long ball…..when the going got tough he bloody did and it took KK weeks to get it out of the system.

He comes up with the latest high-tec equpiment for fitness and Duff said they feel more fit now KK has changes training!

Sorry its plain to see Big Sam is very bitter about his time here at Newcastle, but so are most of the fans!

  • 38 GSfan // Jun 15, 2008 at 19:25

Wow, Tom_Toon… lol. All hail our new board then! I’ll go do some research up on this Kiesling when I get back from watching the match. If he really is that good I just hope we got him in the bag then :p Cuz it still ain’t certain.

  • 39 Matthew // Jun 15, 2008 at 19:30

How do Liverpool expect to catch Man Utd and Chelsea by signing average players like Milner?

Shouldn’t be anywhere near our starting 11 next season.

  • 40 normski1930z // Jun 15, 2008 at 19:35

well lads i think selling milner is a bad move coz i think he may not be the best player in the world but he always trys and put in some gud performances last season and is young enough to improve, but in retrospect if liverpool and cl football came callin then his head will probably be turned cant blame the lad for that…..

  • 41 Geordie Gerrard7 // Jun 15, 2008 at 19:45

  • 42 richie // Jun 15, 2008 at 19:48

milner is good but not brill. id let him go at right price ie. crouch swap or 6mill and guthrie

  • 43 Davy C // Jun 15, 2008 at 19:49

Tha article states ” James Milner will plead with Newcastle not to block his dream move to Liverpool.”

There are no quotes from Milner himself. That is the only way to check and see if the papers are relaying facts or just stirring it up with speculation to try and sell their rags. If they put untrue quotes out they can obviously get sued. They often manage to take quotes out of context as well.

Until Milner or an official of NUFC comes out and says anything Milner is a Newcastle player and this story is just that - a story!

  • 44 richie // Jun 15, 2008 at 19:50

this mean arda is staying put?

  • 47 richie // Jun 15, 2008 at 20:13

    have we bid for arshavin??

  • 48 i // Jun 15, 2008 at 20:13

You can see the bias in that reporting by implying it is his ‘dream move’ to move from a club that gets 50000 when it is mediocre to a club that gets 30000 when it is mediocre (Portsmouth game 2003/4) and 43000 when it is a contender.

I’m not saying the move won’t happen, anything can happen if you give out money, but when I seen the quote ‘dream move’ and what it implied the report lost a lot of credibility in my eyes; basically you could see him imply a hierachal pecking order that is only in his scouse head. Now the pecking order in my head is a different matter…

Perhaps his reporting could be sensitive to the pecking order in all our heads?

  • 49 Seymour Butts // Jun 15, 2008 at 20:14

yes it was reported on here i think

  • 51 Simon // Jun 15, 2008 at 20:33

Apart from the comment from i about Liverpool getting 30000 at a gate (Liverpool is always at capacity - your imagining it) there have been some good comments.
Normally when a team is linked with another teams player there is lots of abuse. Liverpool are always getting abuse mainly from London clubs so its nice to see that the Geordies are able to discuss Milner moving in a reasonable manner. I think the interest from Rafa stems from when Milner played against us for Villa and caused us nothing but problems with the fantastic crosses he was putting in behind our defence. The type of cross that Torres would eat up. Pennant is a lovely player on the ball but his crossing is average.
In regards to Guthrie moving to Newcastle, he is a cracking skillful little player and reminds me of that midfielder you had in your 90’s heyday. Name escapes me but he ended up at West Ham. Scored quite a few goals and got a few England caps….what’s his bloody name…??

cant belive that just happened :D

  • 100 GSfan // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:03

OK. Now that I got my senses back again…

First off, totally different game first half and second half. God knows what on earth our coach told the players! The Czechs should have really finished the match off in the first half and they really did have the chance to do that. Good team.

Some players seemed really poor tho. The ones that shined for us were Arda, Servet, Nihat in my honest opinion.

Arda’s just crazzzy like a khfkasfdkbhfjabfskfbhafasjhfdb ffs. That’s passion right there!

Servet… well. Emre should take frickin lessons from him. He started out the Euros as injured, then he got injured in 2 places in the Portugal game, once more in the match against the Swiss, then he gets injured on his arm cuz Koller steps on it and yet HE STILL CARRIES ON PLAYING. A real trooper! And well Nihat is just… Nihat. Always pounces on chances, no wonder he scored 18 in La Liga.

As for the Czechs, they were really clever in exploiting that 2nd goal. Not letting the ref have a chance so Turkey can sub in a player for the injured player who came off and had only 1 defender. Sneaky sneaky. Though they’re a bunch of wusses. One nudge from Servet and they just taste the ground, honestly a football player does NOT go down from just a bit of a nudge like that. They should go play tetris or something if football’s too tough for em. Props to them tho, they’re a well organised team, very hard to penetrate. If they had won the match they would have deserved it purely out of their organisation.

(Btw who gave the assist in the 3rd goal? I couldn’t see cuz I was jumping up and down too much. Anyways I’m gonna go have a nice drink, and not just some cheap beer either! Btw wtf is up with the Swiss beating Portugal? I thought Portugal’s subs were real quality and would want to prove themselves)

  • 101 GSfan // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:03

ok hang on GG7 lemme translate that

  • 102 Yorkie Dave // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:03

i have a very bad feeling that Arda Turan’s value will be pushing £20mill now he has been superb in these championships! I may be wrong but tonight he was everywhere as was Nihat. Sadly i cant see us getting him now. I think that Turan will end up at a top 4 club or with one of the big european clubs Chelsea have to be favourites now or even Inter Milan!! Hope im wrong i usually am. Cant help dreaming about a forward 3 of Turan Owen Martins playing off eachother and behind Van Der Vaart Arcashin and Butt!!!

  • 103 Tom_Toon // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:05

The swiss beat us cos 8 of the 11 are subs and reserves and we had 2 penalties turned down and a goal ruled for ofdside when it wasnt. The players had never played together, whilst the swiss had.

  • 104 Geordie Gerrard7 // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:07

  • 107 GSfan // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:10

Yesterday Cimbom’s (Cimbom is just the nickname for GS, kinda like how you guys are called the magpies or barcodes) star Arda had an interview with UEFA. After the interview the UEFA representative told Arda “You got the quality to play for Chelsea”. Arda on the other hand showed his passion and loyalty to his club once again and turned towards the reporter and said “Only Galatasaray”. Until now Arda has received the man of the match award twice in European competitions, the first one being in the match against Bordeaux and this time in the match against Switzerland.

(The rest of the article talks about some charity campaign which the GS board held the other day and is irrelevant)

  • 108 GSfan // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:11

Nahhh Portugal are gonna wipe the floor with Germany imo. Ofc you never know!

  • 109 Ashton // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:12

    Derdiyok was great against portugal
and Arda is just pure quality !! i will be really pissed if we couldn’t get him

  • 110 daiv // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:13

    Ed
Why should Milner want to sign for Pool, a club who win European Cups when he can stay at NUFC, get really shabbily treated (The VIlla saga?) and win nothing. Of course he wants to go there. Stupid question. Its like saying Barca or Newcastle.

  • 111 shirts // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:13

Let Milner go and get Libor Sionko in for a year or two. Even though the Czechs lost, I think he had a good game and had good games previously too. Yeah, he’s old, but Sionko’s not a bad dribbler and he can actually pass the effing ball and score too. Milner just dribbles up his own ass every time he gets the ball.

yeah, and Turan was really, really good today. but can we really get him?

  • 112 Seymour Butts // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:13

arda had another great game but his price will hardly “skyrocket” will it? i mean scouts won’t see the player play one decent game and think wow we’d better slap a £20m offer in.

  • 113 Geordie Gerrard7 // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:13

so basically he is gunna stay with gs?

  • 114 SwedeEric // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:14

Now we can udnerstand why Gala realy didn´t want to sell before the Euros… this can´t have been bad for them, now more clubs will be intrested, and they will be ready to pay more!

Great player, if we could get him, I would be amazed! But so was I when we got owen, luque also…

  • 115 Geordie Nick // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:16

why doesnt everyone just wait and see where arda ends up, no point in talkin about it now cos nothins gonna happen til turkey are out, which cud b a while yet

  • 116 Seymour Butts // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:18

can’t see him staying with gs now geordie gerrard.

  • 117 Geordie Nick // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:18

teams who had no interest in arda before the euros are hardly gonna pay big money for him based on 2 games, only clubs who had scouted him before hand and already had an interest

  • 118 ronaldeano // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:19

We wont be the only club bidding for Arda now. We have behaved like cheep skates. He should have been signed for the 13 million asking price BEFORE the Euros.

What is an extra 4 mill to a billionare?

If we sign him, i will eat my words, but tight arse, frey bentos Ashley has to deliver before August 31st or we are deep in the shit :(

  • 119 ToonKing // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:23

bloody hell….i had decent money on the 2-2 draw…… arghhhh damn you nihat, damn you….. :D

anyways, crazy game, hope we do get Arda but chances are slim. I say give Galata 16Mil for Arda and Servet……and then lay back and watch the fans kill the Galata board :D

  • 120 Tom_Toon // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:23

Am i the only one who was never bothered about Arda?

Ill stcik with my left wing pick for the past year - Zhirkov.

  • 121 Seymour Butts // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:23

ronaldeano’s right - this deal should have been tied up a long time ago.

  • 122 ronaldeano // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:27

TT, im botherd about Arda mate, he would be a quality signing for us, he gives 100% when he plays and he is very affective at creating chances. That is what we are desperate for

  • 123 ToonKing // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:28

yeah Zhirkov would be nice too……….with Van der Vaart in the middle and Arshavin on the right….

  • 124 Tom_Toon // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:29

Zhirkov and Turan are very similar, both have falir, good delivery, can pass and track back a lot, however for me, Zhrkov is cheaper way, way faster and can play LB, just not so desirable because of his nationality.

This therefore makes him suited to 4-3-3, 4-4-2 (at left wing or left back).

  • 125 Oba // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:33

Tom_Toon: You know nothing, but proclaim on here every single day that you do. Arda has shown he’s the man for us, but you come out with some lesser known players that we have never been linked with all the time. Zhirkov isn’t as good as Arda, no way.

  • 126 Geordie Gerrard7 // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:33

    both class

  • 127 Tom_Toon // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:35

I dont proclaim anything, people can make their own opinions of that.

Personal preference is for Zhirkov because Arda Turan looks slow-ish and i want more pace, hes a great player but not for me.

As i say my pick for the last year or so, Zhirkov.

  • 128 Geordie Gerrard7 // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:35

zhirkov is great player but arda tops the bill for me

  • 129 Geordie Gerrard7 // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:38

what about bystrov you were banging on about tt? do you still rate him so highly

  • 130 Geordie Nick // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:39

the same bystrov who was put on at half time and subbed off after 23mins the other day

  • 131 Tom_Toon // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:39

I werent banging on about him was i, mentioned him a few times in he same few days because i was feeling then more than ever that we needed pace so i decided to mention the second fastest player i know that could be available to us (after martins). But if i evaluated him further i wouldnt have said he’d be in one of my top few for a possible right wing signing.

Ye that was strange he got subbed, no1 gave him the ball though.

  • 132 noel hopper // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:39

odd descision if he does first name on team sheet at NUFC and once every three games at LFC…no guarentee that Liverpool will be stable next year with owners still arguing the toss.

  • 133 Oba // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:42

I reckon we should sign that lad from Outer Mongolia, Alanio Kawinkidink.

  • 134 Geordie Gerrard7 // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:43

man u were close to signing bystrov once

  • 135 Tom_Toon // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:43

Yes Oba because no1 has ever heard of Zhirkov, i bet before Arda or Zhirkov were mentioned about the same amount of people had heard of either you mug.

  • 136 Geordie Nick // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:45

out of all the players we hav been linked with ther is only van der vaart thati want to sign more than arda

  • 137 Tom_Toon // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:47

    And surely Arshavin?!!?!?

  • 138 ronaldeano // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:51

  • 139 Geordie Nick // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:53

wud love arshavin to sign but i think arda has the potential to be better than arshavin, but if we cant get VDV then arshavin wud be my next choice for tht position

  • 140 Tom_Toon // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:54

Fact is, we CANT get VDV, simply; why would he come?

  • 141 Geordie Nick // Jun 15, 2008 at 22:56

He would come because of the fantastic shops in Eldon square!!! :)

Their lass would love it! Its better than Milan! :)

  • 143 Tom_Toon // Jun 15, 2008 at 23:03

Its pretty definitive in all walks of logic that we cannot get VDV, most level headed people know that although i do realise and appreciate that everyone would like him and some people are just wishful thinking.

However those who belive we could get him are utterly delusional.

  • 144 Geordie Nick // Jun 15, 2008 at 23:09

thing is, u know jack shit about whats goin on behind the scenes, im not sayin we can/will get him but for all any of us know mike ashley may offer him 150k/week, and money talks, simple as that. nobody knows whats goin on and nobody know ashleys intentions for the club so eveyone will just hav to wait and see and stop goin on lyk thy know more than thy do

  • 145 Midjew // Jun 15, 2008 at 23:09

I agree with you tom toon on the Turan front.

Most on here had really seen him play i bet, he looked good, but not THAT good in last 2 games, BUT saying that would be nice to get him but for around 10m think thats fair as he is young

yeah and u also said theyd win the tournament

  • 155 SwedeEric // Jun 15, 2008 at 23:21

Seriasly, like Ronaldeano, we should have wraped it up earlier, and other say if we just had given them the extra quid…

First of, who said that to you? Keegan, Wise? No, some speculation in media that that was what gala wanted… If he was for sale before the euros, he would have been here..

secund, isn´t that what we like to stop doing, just give everyone what they want, and then a cuple of years later realise we have mayor debts..

Just because media says gala wants13M doesnt mean that´s the truth, and the only reason he isn´t here is because ashley is tight…

Cant belive people who seems to belive everything media says, if it was true, Keegan and Wise would be sitting and bidding on 4 different players everyday, and as we have seen, no bid would have been exepted, exept from the modric bid…

We might have got the cold hand from gala, they might have exepted our bid, but Turan didn´t want to come? Or wanted to wait after the euros and se what clubs might be intrested in him? There might be 3 outher clubs also bidding on him, that the media doesn´t know about, like the modric saga?

All I say is stop complain and say, if we had done this, this would have happend… You don´t know what hapens behind the sceens, so how can you guys say they are doing wrong, and how can you know what gala said to newcastle when they called… get real…

I bet when august ends, lods of people will be sitting here wrighting stuff like: Ohh I gues I had it wrong about Ashley and Wise, they are great, this team will deff come topp 6…

And nice game Turkey! Watch with some turkish friends here, gues you can understand how the feeling went from dead to party!

ED DO A STORY ON RUSSIA. THEY HAVE SO TOP PLAYERS WORTH GETTING AND THEY WOULD COME - RUSSIAN INTERNTIONALS - RB Aniukov, RM - Arshavin, AND ST - Pavlyuchenko have all been amazing for Russia (bar arshavn) I reall like the RB good defensive but equally ueul forard and apparently can play LB too. A for Pavlyuchenko 26 was reall good against Portugal and the commentators stated the kid has everything big strong good on floor and air, movement - plays like a targetman scores plenty and remind me of Gudjohnsen Spartak Moscow 136 - 67 goals Russia 17 - 7 goals. He has something

Reet. First of all, I think Turan is a done deal. Just waiting for it to be announced after the Euro’s as it might cause bad banta between the gala players and fans etc. He looks like he’s playing to impress us Geordies :D

Arshavin well if you are to believe reports were speaking to his possee :D

VDV. tbh what i’ve read hasn’t convinced me one bit that were ganna sign him. I hope as much as all fellow Geordies though.

Turan is the man though. He’s the effing man!!

  • 176 richie // Jun 16, 2008 at 1:08

he wanted out at chelsea because he thought he was good enough to play every week

arsenal ,wenger said he would eventually be a first teamer but he wouldn wait, hes very confident in his ability. imo he is world class and he knows it too, i could see pompey acceptin a 10mill bid

Gateshead mag loving the optimism!! hope milners stays as some have said he’s a good team/squad player and where hardly over run with players in midfield (even with turan, arshavin and bentley coming in :) )

but i don’t blame the guy if he wants that dream move to liverpool, most of us after all want to better or jobs, he’s no different! don’t think he’d play much though, but he could probably look back on his career when his older and say ‘well i played in the champions league’ he’s not going be saying that if he stays with us.

  • 180 Geordie Nick // Jun 16, 2008 at 10:43

yeh so we sign diarra for 10mil then he gets his big head on again and thinks hes too good for us and needs to move to a bigger club and does to us what hes gonna do to pmpey, whats the point, when we cud sign someone who shows a bit of loyalty instead of sumone whos just gonna use us a steppin stone as he did with pompey
