Emana Move Back On For Newcastle?

Newcastle United’s move for Toulouse’s attacking midfielder Achille Emana may be back on.

Achille Emana – hitch in hos move to Real Betis?

There are reports today, there may be a hitch in the Cameronn International’s proposed move to Real Betis, with the Spanish club apparently unwilling to meet Toulouse’s price of £7M for the player.

When we first covered Newcastle’s apparent interest in the player, the price was said to be around £5.5M, so it seems to have gone up.

We wonder if he’s worth £7M, as Real Betis seem to be questioning.

Emana, who turned 26 years old on 5th June, had talked about the offers he knew had been placed with his club:

“I need a new challenge in my career.”

“I know interesting offers have been made – such as Newcastle’s.”

“But I would like to join Betis if we can reach an agreement.”

Emana has set his sights on new opportunities, with a move planned to either Spain or England, but it looked like he preferred sunny Spain to sunny Newcastle, only last week.

The player’s agent Thiery had said just over two weeks ago:

“Achille is ready to play in the Premier League and Newcastle is a team he would relish playing for.”

“He is strong and is a box-to-box midfielder who also possesses a lot of pace.”

“He has the right number of caps and the right amount of experience at 25 not to be overawed by the Premier League, which would be an exciting challenge.”

Wonder if that’s really true what his agent says, or even if Newcastle are actually really interested?

If players are on the verge of moving to a new club and Newcastle are not in there bidding, we have to assume the player is not really a target for the club.

That may well be the case here.

Emana stands 5’11” and has played 226 games for Toulouse with 28 goals since joining them in 2001, and has represented Cameroon 10 times.

Seems a real bundle of energy, strength and skill….thats why i would have him.

I thought some of the Africans at both ourselves and Pompey have been a breath of fresh air and i for one would not mind if aquired another one. After all its almost 4 years before another ACN.

Because he’s better than anything we’ve currently got in midfield?

Don’t know if he is any good, but we could definetley do with some midfielders…

Anyway, since this is my first comment on this blog, I just want to say thanks to Ed for putting the effort into this site and posting so often.

There is only one thing I don’t like so much about the blog, and that is huge amount of off-topic comments that make it pretty tiring to read. So, it may be a good idea to establish a forum for the visitors to chit-chat, and talk about the possible transfer targets etc….

Anyway, enough of that 🙂 I’d like to send a warm greeting from Serbia to all the Toon fans out there!

    Srdačan pozdrav!

I think Arshavin is a more likely target than this guy. Not much noises coming from his agents though, but he has stated he’s leaving. But where? Could be us, if it is then its definitely been kept very quiet!
However, Michael Johnson is a player that could leave Man City. You gotta think KK will be in some sort of bidding for him, and he’s definitely capable of filling the void left by Joey Barton.
Arda Turan is a target that is plausable, but his performances are bringing attention, so not sure on that one. Then we have Kapo and Larsson too, both capable and more numbers to our midfield.
I’m not confident of the Didier Digard link, nor the Tom Huddlestone link. But both players could be the type we need to help Nicky Butt.

    AM/ST Arshavin
    AM/WG Turan
    AM/WG Kapo
    MRC Larsson
    DM Digard/Huddlestone

I think you’ll all agree that we need at least 5 midfield players, and these guys would definitely add alot more strength, skill and creativity. If Milner does leave, I wouldn’t be surprised if Peter Crouch and/or Steve Finnan (L’pool signed Degen and have Arbeloa) came in the other direction. Nicky Shorey is a possibility too, and who we get for CB is a complete Mystery!

Toonking you mean typical I assume? Either that or you’ve never seen Jay Jay Okocha play football.

Man, paying £7m makes no sense when you can get Kapo for £5m. Kapo is superior to Emana. Did you see the way he started last season? Imagine him under Keegan, playing alongside Owen, Martins and hopefully Turan et al. Kapo should be a priority for us alongside Turan.

No way for 5 mill let alone 7 lol maybe 4 would be right for a player who has a poor scoring record in these times you need midfielders to score (Lampard,Ronaldo) just use this money to get VDV or Turan .

I’ve got to hold my hands up and say i dont know much of Kapo’s second half of the season.

I know he started the season on fire and scored 5 goals, playing 2o odd games…nothing startling!

Yes i know in a better team, he would create more chances and he was recommended by Wenger after playing for Juve….

But have to be honest i’m just not sure on the lad, would rather have Ashvarin or a more estabished player.

Anyway, i think it could be all paper talk as the real story appears to be Larsson….and this is a player i would like at the Toon!

Emana stands 5′11″ and has played 226 games for Toulouse with 28 goals.

he sounds like keiron to me. For an attackin midfielder that is a poor return of goals

Emana would be a good option, along with Appiah from Fenerbache. But Newcastle major issue over years has been their recruitment of newplayers. Every has been talking about Arshavin signing for Newcastle, but has anyone taken notice of Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, or Ronald Vargas from Venezuela. Diniyar Bilyaletdinov would cost half the money, command half the wages, & is 4 years younger. Check him out against Sweden my toon brothers, I think he should be our target!

SIGN HIM!!! I saw him play for his club a couple of times and he was by far the best player on the pitch for both games! The guy is immense, doesn´t stop working and tackling and creating chances. His passing and technical skill is not bad at all. He is much better than Barton and I was immediately taken away by his strength and awareness. He was all over the place, creating havoc and always was a threat for the opposing team when he had the ball. We should sign him as soon as we can as he is just the midfielder we need. Bascially Emana is just as good as Essien is for Chelsea. He is really strong, likes to get physical, goes from box to box, can defend and knows where the goal is too. KK SIGN HIM AND CHUCK BARTON NOW!! He is a must for us and way better than Barton, I would definately pay the 7M but I wouldn´t go higher though. I would love it, JUST LUV IT, if we could sign Emana, Arshavin and Turan and to top it off I would get Gomis also. If that were to happen I would do back’flips ´cuz I would know we would end up in Europe come May ´09.

    PLEASE KK SIGN EMANA!!!!

I would sign right now if I could from the possible targets we are linked with…

Turan, Arshavin, Emana, Gomis, Shorey, McGeady and Van der Vart. I would also get Crouch in if I could as the guy is underated and would link up really well with Owen.

First kick out geremi, emre, duff, smith, barton..
all 60k per week which is total waste and we can save 300k per week only from this 5 guys….and remember that we can still cut wages from owen pay cut, sell milner or even sell shay given( we have harper and krul)….then we need to buy 8 new players…
    1) Metzelder ( 2m loan)
    2) Shorey
    3) Turan
    4) Gomis
    5) Bullard
    6) a very gud RW
    7) a gud midfielder who can play both DM and AM ( a replacement for jail bound Barton)
    8)A top class AM
