Man City Rival Newcastle For Arshavin

Newcastle United and Manchester City are reported to be in a close battle for Zenit St Petersburg midfielder and captain of Russia, Andrei Arshavin.

Andrei Arshavin – Man City to make better bid?

According to Sport-Express, Newcastle have already made a £9M bid for the player, which seems a good bid for from the Tyneside club.

But Zenit sources are now saying they expect Manchester City to better that offer.

The 27-year-old Russian international was unable to play in the first two group matches at Euro 2008, taking place in Austria and Switzerland, due to a suspension.

But he is expected to play some part in their crucial game tomorrow against Sweden, when the winner takes all, and goes into the quarter finals.

We believe the transfer market is now heating up with the group games of Euro 2008 coming to an end.

We would expect some decisions on players Newcastle are after, even before the end of this week, with news today that Newcastle have also bid £5M for Ranger’s center-back Carlos Cuellar.

It would be heartbreaking if we miss out on Arshavin at this stage.

Well Man City = No competition IMO, they may be in europe but they are not a desirable club to play for like Spurs or Villa.

They think they are a big club after 1 good season. That season if Sven didnt come in i wouldnt have been suprised if they were relegated.

They are trying to get Ronaldinho, and until they know where they stand with him, i cant see them bidding for another player for the same position. Paper crap, again

It’s a sad state of affairs and shows how much football has changed, when we get outbid by Man City for players

Show Arshevin the atlas. Newcastle is much nearer to St Petersburg than Manchester! Go get him KK and let us see the way ahead to some silverware.

Man City are a joke, they will be a bigger joke when Shitawatra picks up his ball and hauls his tiny little ass back to Thailand with all his dirty money

Hard to perdict what Sinatra will do at Man City. He looks to be a real loose cannon in this transfer window. If they really want Arshavin, I dont doubt they’ll pay over the odds for him, leaving us to look elsewhere.
Hopefully they go in another direction.

I disagree with tom toon. city have money to spend and are a team going places. They are also in talks with ronaldinho . does anyone actually think that if kk went in for him he would have a chance. i reckon city will be challenging for europe next season unlike us. Arshavin will also be on massive wages(as are most players in the russian league) which we wont be matching if its true about a wage cap.

    something is brewing.

even the official website is down.

no word is coming out of newcastle at all.

alan oliver is left getting quotes from micky quinn, scott sellars and jon beresford.

his communication lines have been slammed in his face.

surely the 3 wise men have been working on justifying the wage they get.

maybe this is what supporting a club ran properly feels like.

This thing about KK cutting his holiday short to come back suggests it is for one particular deal where the player wants to meet him before agreeing to anything.

wow ok im not saying that this is what we have but just imagine this midfield
    veloso
    arshavin turan
    van der vaart

god im drueling, i know that it is very unrealistic but that is definatly a keegan type midfield:) god if we had that midfield then we would definatly be somewhere up there i mean imagine this team

    harper
    beye faye cuellar enrique
    veloso
    arshavin turan
    van der vaart
    owen martins

just the thought of it makes me excited.

Seems we are bidding way below what clubs are asking. 5M for Cuellar when Rangers didn’t want to let him go for 7M?

And another couple of million would make all the difference with Arshavin if we want him.

It wouldnt surprise me if that is where he ends up.
Owner of Man City one day, and back in Bangkok the next, getting whipped with bamboo poles.

Man City are set to sign Jo of CSKA, Arshavin plays in the Russian League and will have no doubt witnessed Jo’s talent. He may be impressed by Man City’s ambition upon recruiting the Brazilian and follow him there…just a thought, a far fetched one, but a thought none the less

IF, and its a big if, NUFC want this guy, then I believe KK will convince him that the toon is the place he needs to be. He will get regular footy, an attack minded Manager and some bloody good support players and strikers.

What more could the boy want, I ask you!!!

Jo aint worth anything near the 18mil they are supposedly paying for him. Still think he’ll go to one of the Milan clubs though. Latest reports were negotiations stopped wth Jo. Milan or Man City, simple really.

i think we would get him over man city as long as another big hitter doesnt come in. It would be good to get him and turan asap. it would lift the uncertainty about what we really are going to do at newcastle. i think he is worth more than 9 million tho and i hope if lets say man city come in with 11 then we match it so it then becomes a clear choice for the player to make and not his club too. We have been linked with stacks and stacks of players though. has there even been a shred of eveidence to say that this story is acurate over the other ones.

ARE ALL UNITED FANS NUMBSKULLS ? OK so you’re in the premier league… that doesn’t mean you are anyone. You pull bigger gates than City only because we have 7 premier league teams within a 30 mile radius – if there were only two others as in NE we’d be a much bigger club than Newcastle – so show some respect dip-sticks ! You have a ‘moon-man’ for a chairman and a ‘fantasy-has been’ as a manager… you are going nowhere and you’re not respected as a big club anywhere outside geordie-land.
