Blackburn’s David Bentley Signs For Spurs?

There is news emerging out of London, and on various web sites, saying that Blackburn’s David Bentley has signed for Spurs.

David Bentley – signs for Tottenham?

Tottenham emerged as strong favorites to sign David Bentley from Blackburn, after the England winger, who used to be at Arsenal, said he wanted to return to London.

Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan had initially targeted Bentley when he returned to Newcastle in January.

But Bentley grew up as a Spurs fan, and it is understood that he had set his sights on a dream move to White Hart Lane.

The 23-year-old has also been linked with with moves to Liverpool and Manchester City, as well as newcastle United in January.

Bentley has said he wants to play in European competition next season, and Tottenham have qualified for the UEFA Cup, by winning the League Cup.

Newcastle didn’t stand much chance of signing David, since we cannot offer European competition next season.

Blackburn were asking £15M for the player but we think the deal has been completed for less than that amount.

Tottenham also bought Croatia international Luka Modric, for £15.8m last month, so they are going to be a much improved team next season under Juande Ramos.

They are certainly not letting the grass grow under their feet in the transfer market.

Bentley is a very good player, but we think there are similarly skilled players at less the price, and almost as good.

Seb Larsson, of Birmingham City, is one example of someone just as good, in our opinion.

And whoever played right wing for Russia last night would also be as good, whoever he was. 😀

Seriously, there were lots of very good Russian players on display last night, who could be bought very cheaply, given their talent.

And that statement refers to lots of other players, who are not necessarily big names at the Euro 2008 Championships.

Comments welcome.

    Interesting reading:

“Hi could you publish a few lines quickly to warn NUFC fans not to sign up for the £17.99 NUFC TV option on the new look official NUFC website.

The ‘Season Ticket’ you think you are buying expires in six weeks on 31st July 2008 when they hammer you for another
    £34.99 for another season ticket.

The whole thing is worded to con you into thinking your getting a good deal on next seasons prices,
but your actually buying last seasons ‘season ticket’ which isn’t a lot of use.

The website designers know about the problem but as yet still haven’t changed the graphic or the wording.

    Shame on them.
To make things worse they took two lots of £17.99 off me. 🙁

    like it!

as for cheapness – there were rumours here that Zhirkov could be transfered to Zenit for 10m euros. not so cheap I think.

TBH, as a Spurs fan, I don’t rate Bentley that highly, and wouldn’t be too disapointed if it didn’t happen.
Of course it would be funny if NUFC were also after him, and we nipped in an………Oh not again.
    Sorry!!!!! Couldn’t resist.

let the spurs fans come, i will remind them that we have beat them 5 times in a row, scoring no less than 3 goals in each of those games and oba martins has scored in each one of them.

i will also remind them that we have scored more goals against them than any other team.

even though they think we are crap we still manage to beat them every time!

ha ha ha hows ya trophy cabinet. what was that? empty? oh no thats a shame!!!

also spurs have no chance of going bust as they are one of the best financally run clubs in the league.

i dont actually know where you get this “spurs fans think your crap” from. what we want to know is why some of your fans expect to win the premier league every season and then when you lose two in a row you start getting on the managers back!!!

anyway look forward to challenging you for a top six place next season

    peace out

I believe this one but I’m not bothered. The minute Bentley came out and insisted he wanted European football we were out of the running.

Good player, but not for us this time.

    Get Aaron Lennon I’d say!

Bentley is class and is set to be an england regular, he can shoot and cross with both feet, skillful when he needs to be and a good set piece taker. add to that he is young and can play almost anywhere in the midfield apart from DM. He is going to cost spurs around 12 million and that is a bargain for a good english talent

i think mike ashley is funding the spurs transfer mission. he is a fan after all

thats why we are linked with all there shite.

also, chris houghton is now here and gus poyet is there and dennis wise is here and mike ashley owns lillywhites which is the nickname of spurs and jeff vetere is the man credited with getting juande ramos to spurs and now he works for the toon..

    too many coincedences.
