Keegan Back In Newcastle And Upbeat As Ever

The Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan is now back in Newcastle, and seems pleased to be back.

Kevin Keegan – back in Newcastle and pleased to be back

Kevin hasn’t brought anybody into the club yet since he returned to Newcastle in January, apart from Lamine Diatta, who was an emergency free agent signing, to see us through the season.

There will be a number of issues Keegan will need to deal with when he gets back, but he’s such a confident and positive guy, he’ll be ready to tackle them when he does start on Monday.

Kevin talked to the Evening Chronicle today:

“The players all went home with different agendas.”

“But they’ll come back with a spirit and togetherness that we’ve got at the club now.”

“We’ve had no-one saying: ‘It’s not a good club’. The players have never said anything like that.”

“And any player or member of staff who has left has been treated respectfully.”

Kevin Keegan, as we’ve often said, has a heart of gold, and his players just love him, and always seem to rise to the occasion when it matters.

But that’s just one sign of a great coach.

It was apparent at the end of last season that he had instilled confidence in so many players, who before that had looked ordinary.

Michael Owen. Mark Viduka, Joey Barton, Nicky Butt, Abdoulaye Faye, Steven Taylor, Steve Harper, Jose Enrique and Oba Martins, all played their best football of the season under Kevin.

So the players we still have at the club are all very good, not to mention the great youngsters we have, just waiting to break through.

Keegan seems to be pleased to be back, and according to comments on our web-site, the Newcastle fans are really pleased he’s back too, and will be expecting some action on the transfer front next week.

The Chronicle is reporting that Kevin drove north yesterday, having touched down on his flight from the USA in London.

He’ll be back at work on Monday and we’re sure Kevin will start giving some interviews again, which are always good and worth a read by all of us.

We’re pleased that Kevin is back at the club – now all we have to do is bring in a few star players for next season. How about six? 😀

Comments welcome.

you’re having a laugh if you think six Ed. I can see three maybe.
    1. Arda Turan
    2. Bafe Gomis
    3. Rafael Van Der Vaart (if we are very lucky)
Otherwise it will just be kids. Remember these three will probably cost over £30million pounds in transfer fees alone. It is important that we hang on to the talents we already have. By that I refer to Martins, Owen, Taylor, N’Zogbia and Milner.

If we keep all the wingers we currently have I’d rather us buy an extra central mf than Turan, though it would still be an exciting signing.

I’d even be very pleased if we got just 2 established names and, say, 4 unknown young players to make up a potential six.

Arshavin has told it a while ago.

in russian press they say that Arsenal will move for Arshavin if they sell Adebayor, but I reckon they are comletely different players, so may be just papers speculations.

We need a new striker, a midfielder that can create and a leader at centre back, I don’t care if the rest are young squad players but those 3 positions would really change the team.

KK will sign the players on his return. Get rid of Wise. Cockney plonker only at NUFC for the money. Gives up Leeds managers job to come here for twice the money to live in Bucks and do nothing except undermine the King. Sums him and the board up.

@daiv I can see how one could think that – but remember MA bought this and it’s a business so it has to have returns. No-one in their right mind would set an investment of that magnitude up for failure. But I agree that we’ve not really seen anything come from Dennis Wise appointment as of yet (or as reported) but hopefully that changes leading up to the start of the season. If not, I’ll join in the calls for the 2 Mil CP 😉

What’s Bob Marley on? Van der Vaart and Joaquin, no chance, as for Lahm I will change my name by deed poll to Peter Reid if he signs for Newcastle this summer. (On second thoughts, a million to one is still not good enough odds for that…) As for Olic, a hard working but limited striker who doesn’t score.
goals – direct replacement for Smith is it?

I think we’ll probably have to limit ourselves to players whose clubs can’t offer them European football either, and who’ve not particularly excelled at the Euros. Gomis a possibility, Arda no chance.

Some of the potential incoming players people are posting are laughable. Lahm? Joaquin? Van der Vart? Get real. People have to come to terms that we have moved on from these big signings. We are looking more to the long term rather than the glamour signings of Shepherd just to sell shirts and keep fans happy.

Sure Turan and Modric are expensive but are (or were in Modric’s case) worth breaking the bank for simply for the years of service they would potentially give the club. We’re not in Europe and aren’t exactly a massively attractive proposition for players looking to come to England, so people need to come back down to Earth and face reality.

I can think of 10 clubs, including Blackburn who are ahead of us in terms of squad strength, depth, finances and level of football offered in a European competition. So it is a gradual process so we should keep the faith and not expect miracles.

Spyro says there’s nothing wrong with being against gays/the colour purple, does this mean you won’t be able to bear to watch the lads next a season in the away kit? franklyI’d rather you didn’t support them at all with your biggoted attitude! What you probably don’t realise is there are a huge number of gay footballers in the premiership, you have probably been unwittingly cheering quite a few on yourself over the last ten years! This is the 21st century for goodness sake……!!!!!

Plus we only need to wear the away kit when it clashes (fulham, bolton), so i doubt we’ll wear it more than 5 times. (As we’ve got the ‘change/cup’ kit aswell)..

But who the f seriously signs for someone just cos they don’t like the strip? other major factors like money, the city and the club itself will be the decision on the players mind, not because the away kit is purple… :/
