The Sunday Sun is reporting today that we may be interested in young 20 year-old striker Robert Acquafresca from Itay.
Robert Acquafresca – looks a star in the making
Although he currently plays on loan at Cagliari, Robert Acquafresca’s contract has been owned by Inter-Milan since 2005 , and the boy doesn’t turn 21 years old until September.
He has already played 32 times for Cagliari and scored 10 goals.
Before he joined Cagliari in 2007, he had played on loan for Treviso 43 times since 2005, and scored 11 goals, so he certainly seems a young star in the making, at just 20 years old.
The youngster was born in Turin to an Italian father and a Polish mother and joined the Torino youth system in 1993 at the age of 6, moving to Treviso in 2005 on loan, after Inter-Milan bought up his contract.
The 6′ striker has also represented Italy at every age group since he was 16, and has played 8 times for the Italy Under-21 side with 5 goals.
Not surprisingly, the Polish Football Federation have been trying to get him to play for their National team, but in March of this year he finally opted to represent Italy at international level. We assume that pleased his father, who is Italian. 😀
This boy seems a good player and would be a great buy now for Newcastle, and definitely one for the future for Newcastle.
Comments welcome.

Comment #7well, i dont think hes a goal machine but there is potential. forget it though. we aint signing anyone ever again i reckon. You know why i say this? – did you see the comments from aimars agent- he said newcastle have enquired about aimer, aimars agent said he would be up for a move to us and since then we have not been back in touch with him at all. makes you wonder why we bothered in the first place. Likewise with turan, he said himself he wanted to come, we enquired and did not buy. arron spear, this 15 year old whizz from plym argyle, we enquired, did not buy. i am at a loss about why we keep on doing this. It cant be the money, the whizz kid was peanuts. On the subject of him, i work with a season ticket holder for plymouth arg and he said that this spear kid is shit hot, proper good.

Comment #8the spear deal isn’t dead, in fact he’s expected to sign within 2 weeks, cos he’s been shown round his new school in newcastle already.
i think the hold up is more likely to be to do with future fee clauses, if he does turn out to be shit hot.

Comment #9chris f…….i think the deal is at a stand still cos argyle wanted a straight million end of deal.. we have said 150 grand and mor money if this nad if that blah blah. its gone cold now. unless we up our offer to something that is not a joke then i dont think he’s coming. cumon, why else would it take two weeks to close out on a 15 year old school boy when the dealhas already been hanging around for over two weeks too. thats over a month to sign a school kid. i hope that i am wrong though cos a hear he is really really promising and could easy be a rooney if not better.

Comment #11craig, my missus brother plays with him for argyle, and when i say amaising, i mean amaising, iv said before i have played against the likes of d.sturridge, gunter, bale, s.sinclair (Played with him) and the likes of them, aaron spear will topple any youngster to come out of england for quite a while, very physical, great vision, ten steps ahead of everyone else.

Comment #13GG7………..you sure?? he defo comin? why have we not announced it then etc? It s good news though cos he going to be the real deal, i am convinced. i think by time he is 16 he will be on the bench with the odd cameo and he’ll be a regualr bytime he is 17. have you seen his frame – he might be 15 but he wont be gettign pushed around too much i think!

Comment #14aslong as it doesnt go to his head, he will be great. i have spoken to him a few times myslf, long before we were intrested though, i know this as my brother in law went back for training yesterday as they u16’s-u17’s are touring belgium next week, and had training yesterday, and my bro in law said young spear wasnt there.
yes, he is sooo level headed,i just hope he stays that way, i expect a few cameo appearances from him to, the only thing is that, he has a ginger twang in his hair naturally, and if he and dave kitson both signed, it could be abit of a disaster. lucky villa have signed sidwell aswell

Comment #20I don’t normally join in the conversations, more of a reader but i know something that may be of interest.
my mate is a p.e. teacher at kings in tynemouth and he reckons they tried and failed to get spear to go to the school and that he’s agreed to go somewhere else (in newcastle).
not that he’d be allowed to play for the school team anyway but which ever school he goes to gets a grant for having an england youth representative, should he ever get called to play for england youth that is.

Comment #21Its pretty rare that Italian players move abroad, let alone ones with bags of talent (though Zaccardo & Barzagli to Wolfsburg is a bit confusing…)
Would be nice but uh, cannot see it happening, esp. seeing we are not in Euro competition…
Is John Hartson available?

Comment #22I know nothing about this lad at all. But with a clammer of top clubs after him, i’m sure he has some ability.
I think this is an age / quality of player we do stand a chance of signing. The reason i say this is we offer one thing the top teams cant, that is a ‘chance’ to be sucsessful, or at least we offer a better chance of 1st team opportunities.
