Ameobi Wants To Join West Brom

News is coming through from several sources that Shola Ameobi is keen to join West Brom, so that he can play under Tony Mowbray.

Shola Ameobi – appears to favor West Brom

Shola Ameobi appears ready to join West Brom, after sources close to the player said the player would be very happy to play under WBA manager, Tony Mowbray.

WBA are in negotiations with Newcastle on the transfer amount, and we understand that is around £3M,  for the former England Under-21 player, whose only club has been Newcastle United.

A source close to Ameobi said:

“Shola is 26 now so this is a big move for him and he knows a manager like Tony Mowbray will help to develop him as a player.”

“He’s over his injury problems now and he just wants to get his head down and play.”

“He is keen to get his future sorted so ideally he’d like to get things done and dusted in the next week or so.”

“A few clubs have shown an interest but he wants to go to West Brom.”

We think that both Newcastle and the player will want to move things along quickly, and we don’t expect the deal to take too long, once a fee has been agreed between the two clubs.

Shola should be able to do a job for WBA, as he looks to fully rehabilitate his career after his hip operation last year.

He’s now fully fit and we would expect he’ll be raring to go.

Comments welcome.

I bet he pulls the plug again.

Seriously Shola, I wish you the very best of luck, and I’m grateful for your goals (back in the day), but please just go now.

  • Arsenal have signed Nasri now according to Nasri’s Website. Click the link on my name for the story. Ameobi would be better off going to Norwich i feel but aslong as he is gone by the start of the season im happy.

I am unsure why you guys consider yourselves to be a bigger club – maybe based on just gettign more fans?? Not sure this is a good signing or not but the attitude or your fans to a guy whose best interests had your club at heart is disgraceful.
He is better off leaving that kind of atmousphere wherever he ends up

Why the hell do you all slag off a player like this? Thought newcastle where supposed to have the best fans in the world or something like that? All i can say is i hope he does come to us at Albion now and play for real supporters who won’t slag him off if it doesn’t work out but would say fair play to you, thanks and good luck in the future. I especially wouldn’t slag off a player that may be playing against us next season cause thats one way to get him fired up for the match against his former club. Not every player is gonna be Alan Shearer you know.

Why are people wanting to change the team so much? Trust me, our starting line-up for next season won’t contain 7 new signings like some are suggesting, and even if it did, it seriously wouldn’t work.

    @51 times

I dont think anyone on here is Fickle, the majority recognise Shola for what he maybe ….a basketball player!!!!!!!!!! Coz he certainly aint a footy player!

Black and white through and through he maybe, but so am I and i couldnt play footy to save my F**kin life mate!! Ha ha ha

See you Shola and to be honest, good riddance, because your hip injury that has lasted 2 years, and you inability to run with, trap, control or even pass a ball was far exceeded by your great ability to foul every opposing player on the pitch!!

Alan Smith please read this, hopefully your next!!!
