We had a poll just before Euro 2008 started with all 16 teams down – and the top six in the poll were as follows:
- Holland (27%, 532 Votes)
- Spain (21%, 414 Votes)
- Germany (13%, 250 Votes)
- Portugal (9%, 166 Votes)
- Turkey (6%, 110 Votes)
- Russia (6%, 110 Votes)
Now we have the four semi finalists we’ll conduct a new poll on only these four and close the old poll.
Will this guy be player of the tournament?
We have to admit we got the idea for this poll from the Shields Gazette today, and once we know the finalists we’ll have the final poll on who will win.

Comment #2Germany seem to have the easier game into the final now playing against a much depleted Turkey team.
Russia and Spain is a more difficult match to predict but I’d prefer Russia to get to the final.
Germany, as always getting stronger in a tournament and think they’d just edge the final.

Comment #6Before a ball was kicked I put £10 on Russia to win at 50-1
Only bet I placed.
As much as I’d like the money I sooooooo want the Spanish to beat the Germans in the final.

Comment #11I would have voted for Turkey but considering their situation i think its mission imposible for them to even reach the final…..with 14 players only available for the semi final which not include Arda,Tuncay,Nihat,Emre,Servet,Volkan(more or less for Volkan) so i’dd say its gonna be Germany who will win it,if Spain wins in some case against the Russians they wont stand a chance against the collosal Germans……but, you never know, the ball is round so anything can happen.

Comment #12The quarter finals said it all – that there’s no such thing as a sure thing in football. Heck, gotta go with my hunch and put my money on the Germans.

Comment #13lol brownrob 😀 you should add chamakh, spear and lennon (or even chimbonda! lol) to that scenario too.
My honest opinion would be that Germany finally lifts another trophy. We really are depleted as someone pointed out, and that’s going to tire the Germans less for the big final cuz Turkey won’t be able to field the team it wants. They’ll be in better condition and they’ve got no injuries either (apart from torsten frings but he’s not too significant in the squad anyways).
Ok so back with more translations on Arda. According to various Turkish sources, they are reporting stuff directly quoted from Italian news sources. Here goes:
“According to various news coming from the Italian press, apart from many teams in Europe, Italy’s well-known club Juventus is also very interested in Arda.
The Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport put up its headline to its readers saying “Juventus targets Arda”. Furthermore, Tuttosport, a newspaper which is known for its close relations with the Juventus club, quoted Arda and headlined “Arda wants Juventus. ‘Playing in Italy would be a dream come true. I’d like to play in Torino'”.
Tuttosport’s article added “Juventus continues with its efforts in the transfer market with its headlights closed. Arda is among the players in the Euros that Juventus is especially taking a close look at”.
The newspaper went on to add that Juventus had been especially hunting young talent in these times and that they had scouted Arda throughout the whole season. It also claimed that Arda’s objective is to play in a big club like Juventus. Furthermore, it goes on to add that there is the possibility of using Zebina in an exchange in order to increase the chance of getting Arda and that Galatasaray wants Zebina. Apart from Arda, the newspaper also reports that Juventus wants Gökhan Inler.”
Well, like I keep saying over and over again… just wait till the end of the Euros 😀 Nothing is certain as long as the Euros keep going (not even Christiano Ronaldo’s transfer got finalised yet! lol).

Comment #15I still haven´t recovered from the Arshavin saga. It hurts to hear how good Arshavin is and how he will probably be the player of the tournament. I can´t stand it, extremely painful to bear. I would like Turkey to miss out on the final, then maybe then we still have a chance of capturing Arda Turan. If he becomes a finalist we will have no chance and miss out on another great player and that would just make me go suicidal. I also keep hearing players leaving (Given for example) and still no one coming in. We have already offloaded a few we need to start buying NOW FFS!!!!

Comment #17I’ve voted for Russia. They were fantastic the last 2 games and theuy will coninue their form.
Tho’ I have to admit that I prefered Russia-Italy, cause Spain has got the mental advantage from the first game.
The story of Turkey has to come to an end. As much as they’ve already had (last minute goals), it seems to be changing (14 fit players).

Comment #20actually, no. i dont know who is going to win this. after watching russia, and spain put in excellent performances (as boring as spain italy may have been, italy were playing football like rangers)
i think spain have the capability of beating germany, im not so sure about russia but then i’d never have thought they’d have put in some of the performances they have this tournament.

Comment #23So I guess i’m not the only one that doesn’t want to see the Germans win ;).
Before the tournament started i said Spain would do it, but at the moment i think the krauts will. I live in Germany and I cant count the amount of times I’ve heard … where’s England ?!! (ha.. ha) I’ll be weeping while they drive around honking their horns and waving their flags.

Comment #30My god how many Russians use this site! lol
Neither Spain or Germany would lose against that Russain side – far too much quality.
As much as Holland looked good in attack they were always going to struggle against a team who were together in the middle of the park.
Spain will win. Alan thinks so.
