The People newspaper reported yesterday that Tottenham Hotspur will let winger Aaron Lennon leave the club, but only for a £10M price-tag.

Aaron Lennon - available for £10M
Lennon, 21, is said to be one of Kevin Keegan’s top targets this summer, and he fits perfectly the profile of players Newcastle are looking for this season.
He’s young, has Premier League experience and he’s an exciting speedy player.
He’s played 82 times for Tottenham, since joining them from his home town team, Leeds United in 2005, and has played 9 times for England since 2006.
It looks like Newcastle will bid for the player, but they were hoping to pay about £6M for the winger a week or so ago, so they may need to raise their price a little.
Tottenham sources say he is not on the list of players manager Juande Ramos necessarily wants to unload in the summer, but that’s just talk they will not let him go on the cheap - and we don’t blame them, because Aaron is still an excellent player.
We think he’s be a good buy if we can get for him for around £8M.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.

£10,ooo,ooo is a lot of money, but I really rate this lad.
I would be delighted if we signed him, but for £10m I don’t think it’s sensible. Time will tell on this one.
2 WIGAZ // Jun 30, 2008 at 10:39
Yes good player, yes exciting to watch but £10m? eh no! if we’re dropping £10m on a right winger then it has to be SWP! much more creative than Lennon & can score more goals! anyway if we can spend £10m on him why not did £10-15m for Quasmera! much better player than both english options! or joaquin! how class was iniesta last nite? would love him in toon shirt but will never happen!
3 DanToon // Jun 30, 2008 at 10:41
No thanks, not even for £8 million, way too much!
4 Punk Skunk // Jun 30, 2008 at 10:48
Na!..Not for £10m…
5 dougnufc // Jun 30, 2008 at 10:49
Nope, we could get a better player for 10m
6 euanpolo // Jun 30, 2008 at 10:52
We should only pay about £6-8m for Lennon, I don’t think he’s worth any more than that, but he’d still be a good signing. Also this is the new Premier League football for next season: http://www.football-shirts.co.uk/fans/nike-200809-premier-league-ball_1301
7 Punk Skunk // Jun 30, 2008 at 10:55
Yuk, i can’t stand nike, slave traders!..
…Isn’t that twatini’s(pratini?) left knacker?..

10 Mil for Lennon ………..ahahahahahhahahahahahahahaha
9 euanpolo // Jun 30, 2008 at 11:11
On Setanta Sports News it sais that we are interested in Carlos Marchena of Valencia and Spain. I hope we are, he was very good in the euros.
10 Davies // Jun 30, 2008 at 11:11
Too much. £6m tops.
11 The Entertainers // Jun 30, 2008 at 11:21
If Kev is interested in Lennon i can understand Spurs wanting to get the most for a very promising English international. I agree with Ed that a price may well be some where between 6 and 10 million.
Just my opinion but i dont think Arda was that much better than what Lennon has showed in the past and they are both of a similar age.
The Spanish defender looked great in the Euros and was far and away their best defender in the tournaments best defence.
12 broon ale // Jun 30, 2008 at 11:24
10 mill?
sod that for a game of soldiers.
you could get larrson and derdiyok for that price
13 Tom_Toon // Jun 30, 2008 at 11:25
Not worth £10mil, £8mil max.
14 Chris // Jun 30, 2008 at 11:27
Lennon will be lucky to get on the bench at Spurs this season. He struggled to get a game last season and they’re expanding their squad even further.
The Spurs fans would love it if we payed £10m for him. I wouldn’t pay much more than half that tbh!
15 Scot-Toon // Jun 30, 2008 at 11:29
4-5 mil tops for me! I think the money could be better spent else where…… Larrson would be better value at 3.5 IMO…..
16 Eyeball // Jun 30, 2008 at 11:30
Come on….£10m for lennon, this is getting beyond a joke!!!
With regards to Lennon, yes he’s fast but he’s got little more than that….it used to be that £10m wouldve got you a proven international quality midfielder/winger, Not someone who is out of favour at his current club…has only a handful of international caps…. and doesnt get many goals…sorry im starting to rant now ffs spend £4.5m on larsson and forget about lennon!!!
17 geordie_jordan // Jun 30, 2008 at 11:34
get him! but not for 10mil, i agree with tom toon, 8 mil at the most
18 Ben_BKK // Jun 30, 2008 at 11:34
6 million would be ideal, 8 million at the very most. As someone already said, we could get Derdiyok and Larsson for 10 million, and I’m pretty sure I’d prefer them…
19 Leo // Jun 30, 2008 at 11:38
to keep it short NO
10mil is WAY TOO MUCH. good player but not that good
20 Stami // Jun 30, 2008 at 11:45
Would rather take on SWP for that price! he’s good, but not 10mil good. maybe in a few seasons he will be worth that, but not just yet!
then again, look at what we where all insisting on recieving for Milner! simillar age are they not, same position, so is 10mil out of the question, or is it just cause they both English…
21 jimmy tack // Jun 30, 2008 at 11:50
10 MILL is about right for lennon. He wont want to join you lot though. spurs are building a great team and i cant imagine him givng that up to join a team who havent won a trophy since the50s.
22 Punk Skunk // Jun 30, 2008 at 12:10
Stami,
you could be right about their nationality mate, it just goes to show how much it might cost if pratini’s 6 plus 5 rule came in, doesn’t it?..
…It could end with people selling their kids to football teams…Wonder how that GREAT idea would go down with european law?..Don’t think pratini’s thought this one thru?..
23 true // Jun 30, 2008 at 12:17
10 mil is 4 mill toooooooo much
24 YongMalaysia // Jun 30, 2008 at 12:20
cant be more than 6mill.
25 Ross // Jun 30, 2008 at 12:29
10 mil for lennon is a ridiculous price.
i’d take him at the club but i wouldnt be overly excited, and i would definitly not pay 10 million for him.
his price tag is that high because he’s english.
26 Sav // Jun 30, 2008 at 12:46
We need centre-half, left-back, central midfielder (attacking and defensive) and a centre-forward as Viduka is rarely fit and too static even when he is.
If you can seriously expect to get that lot ( and we need quality in all the central positions, not just ‘cover’), and still have 10mil to fling at Spurs for a player they picked up for 1.5 million and when we’ve just sorted out Milner, then ‘Good Luck!’. You’re only helping fund their Modric deal. If Lennon isn’t happy, as reported, let them drop their price.
And he runs like wor lass.
27 scottish mag // Jun 30, 2008 at 13:14
“10 million is way too much”
is that not exactly wot liverpool fans were saying last week about milner being priced at 9m
just getting back wot we were dishing out
28 gorskino10 // Jun 30, 2008 at 13:16
He has been poor and is not in Ramos’s plan’s so hes trying to be a cheaky twat for 10 million hes worth around half that.
29 Kaler // Jun 30, 2008 at 13:17
They must be kidding. The only reason I could see for us asking for £10m for Milner was because we actually wanted to keep him and the price was to put bidders off because hes not worth that yet.
If Ramos really thinks Lennon is of no use to his squad then he’s going to have to knock at least £3m off that price. Personally I wouldn’t pay more than £6. £6.5 at a push.
30 ScottyT // Jun 30, 2008 at 13:20
wouldnt be a bad signing imo cos we need to inject pace into the squad. however we need centre mids first of all probably 2 or 3 if we hopefully get rid of barton. also agree 10m maybe bit high but id take him for bowt 7m good competition for milner.
31 Ross // Jun 30, 2008 at 13:24
scottish mag-i’d say 9 million for milner is a ridiculous price also. i genuinly beleive theyre just being given tags like that because they’re english youths.
obviously if we got 9 mil for milner i’d find it hard to turn down, but i wouldnt want to spend that and more, on replacing him with lennon.
32 Punk Skunk // Jun 30, 2008 at 13:34
Aye, if liverpoo want one of our players, that we don’t wanna sell, then £9/10m is about right…But if spuds want shot of a player they don’t want, then £6/7.5 at most!..
33 xfer // Jun 30, 2008 at 14:18
I like him, but 10 mil is quite alot. Im sure we can sign him for lesser. Unless Ramos wants to let him warm the bench.
34 PopB // Jun 30, 2008 at 15:34
what’s with this SWP lovefest. he’s the worst productive player i’ve ever seen. he constantly had poor touch and too often made poor decisions. he would always get cheap goals probably due to the quality around him. lennon beat out SWP last world cup and is much more of a threat to opposing teams when his speed is utilized. i’ll take lennon over SWP and a lifetime supply of beer any day. and i really love beer.
35 michael // Jun 30, 2008 at 15:59
10mil is a lot for lennon 6.5mil tops. Would be a great buy fast and skillfull but so is James Milner if we got lennon then that would mean good competition between the two ,but a would let milner go for 12 - 15mil anything less than 10mil newcastle r ripping themselves.
36 Nobby's Dad // Jun 30, 2008 at 17:24
All this great buy etc. Bollox!! Watch him I’ve said it before Ketspia on speed. Absolutely NO end product!! Bring on Kaz Lua Lua IMO.
37 robertsa // Jun 30, 2008 at 17:34
if milner goes for 10 than its a great deal
but arent we forgetting mcgeady.
38 normski1930z // Jun 30, 2008 at 17:38
yes robertsa i am forgettin mcgeady hopefully so will kk…… come on man he is very average to say the least.
39 Nobby's Dad // Jun 30, 2008 at 17:42
normski….yep mcgeady another very average winger. I watched a few of the Setanta Celtic games to check him out because I’d heard so much about him - now IMO hype. He didn’t even look good in the Scottish league!!
40 normski1930z // Jun 30, 2008 at 17:48
@nobbys dad, if you think about it how many(if any) really good players have come from the spl and set the epl on fire. thoughts??
41 Tom_Toon // Jun 30, 2008 at 17:51
Roberto Hilbert!
42 riquelminho // Jun 30, 2008 at 17:52
overpriced.. if he was another nationality he would cost maybe 3m.. right price is 5-6M..
43 normski1930z // Jun 30, 2008 at 18:03
just dont see the point of buyin lennon if the truth be known he is no better than wot we already have at the minute. but if we are buyin him as direct compatition for milner then its a maybe.
44 chuck // Jun 30, 2008 at 19:09
No way ed, a good buy, you must be joking.
Look I said it before and I will repeat, he`s got all the pace in the world, but thats it!
Like Milner cant cross a ball to save his life, runs the ball at top speed down the wing and ends up trapped in the corner and check his scoring record.
Give me SWP any day.
45 Ian // Jun 30, 2008 at 19:51
Milner scores the same or more than Lennon.
Lennon’s passes are poor and he hangs on to the ball too long.
Not the player we want to buy, if we have £10m it should be spent on a central midfielder who can pass acurately and score goals it is the only way we can improve.
46 craig // Jun 30, 2008 at 20:38
like to see him at st james park but 10m way to much
47 Tom morgan // Jun 30, 2008 at 20:40
Milner is much better than lennon. And for 10m, thats a joke, he is to over rated.
48 Mathew Price // Jun 30, 2008 at 20:45
I wouldn’t mind him at st james park, but Milner has more quality than lennon, so waht do we need him for. And 10m is way to much for a winger. All he can do run with the ball.
49 normski1930z // Jun 30, 2008 at 21:09
10 mil isnt even a starter what a load of bollox
50 Jameso // Jul 1, 2008 at 0:59
have we even got 8 million to spend tho???
51 geordiegraham // Jul 1, 2008 at 9:07
i wud bid for tom huddlestone hes a gd young. lennon is gd but 10mil is too much for him maybe 8m.
52 Mathew // Jul 1, 2008 at 17:49
I agree with geordiegraham huddlestone is top quality and is young.
53 Auschas // Jul 2, 2008 at 1:10
They are having a laugh arent they??? What a joke. For a player who has showed glimpses of class, is young and at the moment is not fulfilling his potential 10 mill is insulting. 6.5 no higher. If this is how the spurs expect to pay off their summer signings I think Ramos is in for a surprise.
