Gutierrez a Grafter Who Likes To Get Stuck In

The Newcastle Evening Chronicle interviewed Spanish-based English journalist Humphrey Carter today from Majorca.

Jonas Gutierrez – great capture for Newcastle United

Carter works on the Balearic island for the Majorca Daily Bulletin, and he feels that Real Mallorca fans will not be very happy to see one of their best players, Jonad Gutierrez, leaving for the English Premier League.

Carter also says Jonas is a grafter, who likes to get stuck in, so he should be well suited not to the English style of football in the Premier league, but perfect for Newcastle.

Humphrey Carter talked to the Evening Chronicle from Majorca today:

“Jonas is an extremely fit guy and does a lot of running. He was also nicknamed Forrest Gump at the ONO Estadi.”

“He is renowned for being a more physical type of winger who likes to get stuck in.”

“He is certainly a grafter, which should go down well with the Newcastle fans.”

“It is a really good signing for Kevin Keegan and the fans.”

There’s certainly lots of good comments coming in over the last 24 hours on how good this Argentine player is, and he should do extremely well in the Premier league.

Now all we need is another 6 players like Jonas, and we’ll be back in business.  😀

Comments welcome.

Vall Wirginity. No idea what that means.

I’m thrilled we’ve finally signed someone and who a lot of people seem to rate highly. He’s said the right things, but don’t they all? No one joins a club and says they don’t want to be there. Also no one plays for Argentina without being half decent. I’m slightly concerned though. There is a cloud hanging over latin players at Newcastle and only hope for the best. Viva La Spider

Good to know he’s a grafter. Something Luque never was. Let’s hope he has the skill level for the Premiership aswell.
Smith is a grafter but he hasn’t done much for us except give away silly free kicks.

The fact that he is a first teamer for Argentina shows his qualities. The fact he bought out his contract with Majorca to sign with NUFC suggests he has the right motives. I just hope the lad settles as quickly as possible. We are not in the era of Shephard and his trophy signings. We are in the era of Keegan/Ashley/Vetere/Wise and signings which improve the squad.

@ Luke! Wall Viginity translates as “I’m the first tosspot to post on here and I’m not going to give my views in an adult type of way. I’m going to do it like a 14 year old charva!” Or something to that effect! 😉

Sounds good, looks canny on youtube – if not a bit crackers. On the Smith point (again) – he won’t be sold so why don’t we get off his back and see if he can’t ressurect his career – stranger things happen.

It’s unfair to compare him to Luque. Not anything alike.

I watched loads of both before they signed for us, and never thought Luque would do well because he doesn’t track back and is easily pushed off the ball.

But Spiderman is a class act and is built for the PL. Another 3-4 of his ability and attitude in our midfield and we’ll have a VERY good season

A lot of Spanish pundets on TV were shocked we got him because he was being chased by the top clubs in La Liga and some in Italy too.

Luque was actually a good player but Roeder just ignored him and left him to languish in the reserves which is why he became rubbish.

Jonas looks better and better the more we hear about him though which is promising. Keep the secret signings coming!

He is a physical player, he’s tall for a winger (around 6ft) and gets back in defence as well.

well honestly havent seen him play much but not exactly the type of player we need most – excellent ball skills, great vision and passing, with an eye for goal and pair of quick feet. not that i saying he isnt gonna do well at sjp but he’s the kind of “physical” winger/wide midfielder like Milner or Larsson and unlikely to turn around the game when needed, while Modric, Arda, a fit and in-form Dyer or the young Aimar 4 years ago are. hope we are still after one of this kind …

??????? has been called up for the internationals to play in the something cup!

Joking apart, I am really buzzing about Jonas. I think that if he can play in the AM position then between him and Milner, they will provide a fast and aggresive right hand side to the team. Certainly Owen and Martins will appreciate the support. Lets hope Jonas has a delivery and finish on him.

Here’s to the start of the season…bring it on!
