Kevin Keegan Will Now Be Flying High

Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan has had an aircraft named after him today, and maybe that’s because he will be flying high over the next few seasons.

Kevin Keegan
– with the aircraft named after him

Flybe is Europe’s largest regional low-cost airline, and the company has today launched ‘The Kevin Keegan’, a specially branded Q400 aircraft named in honor of the Newcastle United manager – what a great idea.

The aircraft was unveiled today by Mike Rutter, Flybe’s Newcastle-born Chief Commercial Officer, and the ceremony was attended by Kevin Keegan himself, along with his family.

Kevin Keegan is back at Newcastle, and now has a monumental job ahead of him, and the signings he makes this summer, will be so important to get Newcastle United back to the top, where we belong.

Keegan said today:

“I’m genuinely touched that Flybe have named one of their aircraft after me.”  “I saw the George Best and Matt Le Tissier plane namings in the paper but I never thought that I’d be having one named after me.”

” Now that I have, I’m delighted and honored to be joining this exclusive group.”  “Newcastle is such an important place to me; the club, the fans and the city have all given me so much”

“So I am thrilled that Flybe are giving something back to them with this unique aircraft that many a Geordie will be able to fly on over the years.’

Flybe’s  Chief Commercial Officer Rutter added:

“Dedicating an aircraft seemed the most appropriate tribute and “The Kevin Keegan” will be in active service on the Newcastle to London Gatwick route as part of the Flybe network throughout the UK and Europe.”

“The Kevin Keegan’ is a Bombardier Q400 aircraft and has the registration ‘KKEV’.”

“The Q400 is one the world’s most environmentally-sensitive passenger aircraft available, offering 30 per cent improvement in fuel efficiency over many other short haul aircraft, and is the backbone of Flybe’s fleet.

It’s a great honor for Keegan, and he certainly deserves it.

Kevin has had a wonderful career as both a player and as a manager in football, but even more important than all of that, is that he’s just a great guy, with a heart of pure gold.

That’s what is really important about Kevin Keegan.

Nah, english players are over rated and expensive, what’s the point no other clubs seem to care why should we be any different?
