Toon Ultra Planning To Raise The Roof At St. James’

We have been asked by Chris, of Toon Ultra, to help him and the rest of the lads working on the project, to get the word out.

We ‘re delighted to help out in any way we can.

The Leazes Corner – we can even hear the noise over here in the USA    😀

On May 23rd then Newcastle Chairman Chris Mort introduced some great changes to how the club would introduce new deals and prices for their fans .

The most interesting change was the introduction of what is being called the Leazes Corner , which are for fans who are willing to sing and generate a generally very noisy atmosphere.

Toon Ultras is an organization that has the goal to bring back the noise to St. James’ Park – and that’s so important.

Over the past few years the atmosphere inside the stadium has diminished too much, and people no longer seem as eager or as willing to join in with the chants.

Toon Ultras is the organization that has been set up to change this by turning St. James’ Park back into a solid fortress, with an atmosphere we can all be proud of as Geordies.   😀

Here are some videos of the songs, actually being performed by the Toon Army choir – in pubs of course, and you can get the words on their web site , and we also list the words below on their brochure.

We hope you are in good voice – and it may help first to have a couple or three pints of Newcastle Brown Ale – and then join in with these youtube videos, on some of the songs.

“We love you We love you”

“Don’t want to go home”

“Oh we’re the Geordies”

“This club is my club”

Boy, those titles are reminiscent of some of the best Beatles songs!

And here is the Toon Ultra official site – which we have now put on our own blogroll.

Here is the new Toon Ultra brochure.

Let’s all support Toon Ultra, because next season will be good practice as the lads get their act together, and then when we’re in the Champions League the following season, we really expect the lads to be able to raise the roof at St. James’ Park.

You can also give a donation to help the lads out.

The very best of luck to Chris and the boys at Toon Ultra, they are the salt of the earth of the great Toon Army.

We should call the lads who sing in the Leazes Corner The Toon Army Choir – shouldn’t we? – or is there a better name?

The Sunderland game was amazing, if we could get the atmosphere anywhere near that every week it’d be brilliant.

Aye I think it’s going to be interesting to see how the singing section affects the rest of the ground?

Would be nice to think that it would create an away match atmosphere that helps lift the rest – just wonder whether or not it’ll be like an away match at the riverside with 5000 geordies singing and then silence from the restof the ground…

The Toon Ultra are amazing. If NUFC as a whole put in the same effort as the Ultras, we would definitely be up in the top 4.

Keep on rocking the Leazes guys!

Its just a pity that a lot of the songs from the original leazes end have been lost through the criminal act of pulling down the leazes then leaving it demolished for years cos they had no money to rebuild it. A smaller choir was set up in the Gallowgate but the continuity was lost and along with it many of our traditional songs. Good luck to the Ultras – and don’t forget – the most devastating way to rip the **** out of opposition fans is with sharp wit and humour – the old leazes end were masters of this, I know because I was there :o)

Can’t agree more. Been a ST holder for 19 years now and since before Bobby was sacked the atomosphear has dwindled. Again, we haven’t had much to look forward to over the past few years but we must do our part.

One thing I can’t get to grips with is the tune they play just prior to the palyers coming out. Some ACDC tune.

Much prefered Going Home – although we don’t have our Local Hero anymore.

I’d rather hear “Brothers In Arms” another fine song by Dire Straits which I think would build us up to sing our hearts out every match.

After all, that’s EXACTLY what we are……….Brothers in Arms!

    Toon till I die!

If we could get an atmosphere which is 25% as good as gods testimonial we will be fine.
