Duff In Part Exchange Deal For Anton Ferdinand?

July 13th, 2008 by Ed Harrison · 118 Comments

The People are reporting today, that Newcastle United are willing to offer Damien Duff to West Ham in a player-plus-cash deal for 23 year-old West Ham defender, Anton Ferdinand.

anton-ferdinand-1.jpg

Anton Ferdinand - is Keegan really interested in 23 year-old

They must be kidding, and if they’re not, they must be smoking something not good for their health..

Since when did Anton Ferdinand become a better player than the 68 times capped Irishman?

And the new management at Newcastle is certainly not naive enough to execute a deal like that, which would not go over well with the fans, one little bit.

The People report that Kevin Keegan is still keen to get Ferdinand on Tyneside, and re-create his England Under-21 central defensive partnership with 22 year-old Steven Taylor.

However, we must say that the times we saw the two perform together for the England Under-21 side, they seemed to play extremely well and had a good understanding with each other, and looked a good twosome together.

It seems like Tottenham have also registered some interest in Ferdinand, but neither club has come close to the Hammers’ £6M valuation. The People are quoting that valuation at £10M, but we just don’t believe it, and even £6M seems too much.

Luis Boa Morte and Matty Etherington are both likely to leave Upton Park this summer, so West Ham manager Alan Curbishley would like to bring in a left winger, and he seems to like the look of 29 year-old Damien Duff, which doesn’t surprise us, because the Irishman is still a good player.

We think Duff may well leave Newcastle in the summer, but that depends on who else we can get into the club, but Newcastle would want, at the very least, the £5M they paid Chelsea for the player two seasons ago.  It seems like a straight swap would be closer to the valuations of the two players right now.

Duff was signed by Chelsea for £17M, from Blackburn Rovers, in 2003 (another case of Chelsea way overpaying for a player), and then moved to Newcastle two years ago, but has surprisingly failed to hold down a regular first-team place.

We think Kevin will be bringing in a couple of wingers this summer, and has already signed Argentine International, Jonas Gutierrez, who operates on the right hand side.

If Charles N’Zogbia moves on, which now seems likely, given his pronouncements of last week, we expect Kevin to bring in a top class left winger too.

Comments welcome.

Ed, I don’t agree with you on this one. This would be a great deal! Can’t see it happening though.

  • 2 toooooon fan // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:20 AM

stick smith in there as well

  • 3 WIGAZ // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:23 AM

Wouldn’t mind seein SWP in for wings! could play left or right! i’d not be that bothered with anton comin in like, would rather see experienced CB come in & Evans for the future! Anton too much of a big time charlie for my tastes! we should go for o shea, he’d be good but can play either CB or DM! or maybe we could also go for Hypia? fair play his legs have gone but be good experience next to Taylor or Evans! i think it’s pretty much 99.9% sure duff will leave!

  • 4 Davies // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:23 AM

Please let this be some sort of sick joke.

  • 5 LondonToon // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:24 AM

No way. Ferdinand is NOT what we need. And I reckon Duff will be a lot better next year.

  • 6 dave // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:24 AM

if you think duff is a good player then your as stupid as ever.

  • 7 Chris F // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:24 AM

unlike others on here, i think anton ferdinand is a decent player.

he’s not exceptional, but then he is still pretty young.

and you’re right, Ed, him and taylor had a cracking partnership for the u21 side, but the Premier League is a different kettle of fish entirely.

I don’t believe we’d be offering duff in p/x even if we are after him.

  • 8 toooooon fan // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:25 AM

didnt here this one in the meedou

  • 9 The Entertainers // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:25 AM

I wouldnt mind Ferdinand at the club. I think for his age hes one of the best out there. But we also have Tyalor and both these players need an experienced CB next to them.

As for Duff i would not be too disappointed if he left, the same goes for Zog (at my wits end with that lad).

So would love to see a couple of left midfielders come in, particularly Arda.

So Ferdinand and Duff swap, even for a little cash as well, i for one would be happy.

  • 10 Danny G // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:25 AM

I would swap Duff for Ferdinand….

Not that I think he is a better player, I just don’t think that Duff has been good enough for us since we bought him!

Tell Charlie N’Zogbia that he will start every game next season on the left wing and give him the number 11 shirt and he will stay…Then we will can Duff go!

    Makes sense to me…

Duff is a one trick pony. Ferdinand will grow with KK. If this deal is on offer, I’d go with it.

  • 14 AussieToon // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:29 AM

is it true that it was seen duffs house on sale?

  • 15 Tom4Nufc // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:33 AM

Yes, Duff’s house is/was up for sale. I know that for sure.

  • 16 GM // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:34 AM

Duff cant beat his way out of a paper bag, get shot and free up the £60k/pw he is fleecing the club for. I though the dog lover wanted him to join the mackem gypo club?

  • 17 AussieToon // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:37 AM

GM- wats the mackem gypo club

  • 18 furrygiblets // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:37 AM

While Anton is not the best, if we could get rid of “past it” duff and his 70k wages this might be a good deal imo

  • 19 Tom4Nufc // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:40 AM

    AussieToon- he means sunderland lol!!!!

  • 20 kizza // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:41 AM

i dont think Duff was over priced at Chelsea. He played awsome and we all loved it when he signed because he was so cheap and so good

  • 21 homas // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:41 AM

Actually I hope this happens, Duff is over the top and will be nothing more than an average player at best for Newcastle. Ferdinand still has potential and might take a step forward under KK.

  • 22 Tom4Nufc // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:42 AM

And GM, I think you are correct, it was either Mcgeady or Duff for the mackems i think, obviously no progress though. :(

    I just want him gone.

  • 23 Nathan // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:46 AM

Anton Ferdinand is horrifcally overrated, he’s a meer shadow of his brother and his brother is the only reason he gets any hype at all

  • 24 Chennai Toon // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:48 AM

not a bad deal………….ronaldeano in his last post said that his mate saw anton in sjp few days back……..might be true………………..

i am better than damien duff. he is a horrendous player!

  • 28 Matt // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:52 AM

Anton Ferdinand is a bad defender. That’s basically all that matters here. We shouldn’t be interested in him even if he came in on the free. I think we should get rid of Duff soon ish though, he’s starting to lose his pace and touch. Think he’s got one good season left in him at most.

  • 29 Archie Brand // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:53 AM

Anyone who has watched Ferdinand play for West Ham must have noticed how well he would fit into our back four – in exactly the same way that Bramble did.

Ferdinand is a liability. It doesn’t matter how young he is – he’s either good enough or he’s not. In this case – NOT

  • 30 Spyro // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:53 AM

we would be lucky to get 5 million for Duff as he hasn’t performed since arriving, we are more likely to get around 3.5 million or something

  • 31 Spyro // Jul 13, 2008 at 10:55 AM

    Archie brand

“Ferdinand is a liability. It doesn’t matter how young he is – he’s either good enough or he’s not. In this case – NOT”

whats your opinion on steven taylor then?

  • 32 reillers // Jul 13, 2008 at 11:00 AM

I don’t like wee Ferdinand. But Duff will be better this season, he takes a while to get over injuries. He’ll have threat to his position, especially at Ireland, where he never did before, with the likes of Hunt and McGeady floating around the place.
I see him well I hope I do, being the old Duff that we all used to turn and look, at this season. He had a game for Ireland there not so long ago and he was good, did a lot of work. Looked really good at times.
Duff hasn’t got the chance he’s needed yet. This lad takes a while to get over injuries, I think he has now and I think he’ll prove himself.

I want wee McGeady though, but when it comes down to it, Keane always has more to offer, he’ll always attract the Irish lads. He’s a smart lad as well, he’s about to swoop for Cork City’s David Meyler, he’s a bloody good midfielder and David Mooney, he’s on some form at the moment, 11 goals in 6 games. They’d be good buys but God forbid we’d ever have a look. No, no instead we buy the wee lads with the big names, the has beens.

  • 33 whitey // Jul 13, 2008 at 11:01 AM

duff is shite and has been since we signed him. a swap with ferdinand would be the only way to shift him. whos goin to pay 5m for a head down pass sideways player? hes behind zog and actually prevented sum of zogs development. i think ferdinand would be a good buy for the toon. english, good young centre half, hungry to play and would cost about half duffs wages per week.

duff hasnt played a single good half of football nevermind have a good game for newcastle.!
    he has been a flop.

those of you saying he will be better this yearhave clearly not been following his progress since he arrived.

he will not get his game this year!

  • 38 Nick Dryden // Jul 13, 2008 at 11:15 AM

Ed you really, really need to get over this Duff thing. The guy is all head down, all one foot, has lost a yard of pace, is nearly 30, is incredibly injury prone, is on 70K a week and keeps NZogbia out of the team. What purpose can Duff possibly serve? Truly one of our worst ever signings. We have NZogbia, Milner and Gutierrez.
I’m not a huge Ferdinand fan but I would snap West Ham’s hands off for a 23 YEAR OLD IN EXCHANGE FOR AN OVER THE HILL, OVER PAID HAS-BEEN. And no we did not all love it when Duff signed. He wasn’t particularly cheap and he was on huge wages. I can’t remember him having one good game.

  • 39 broon ale // Jul 13, 2008 at 11:17 AM

  • 40 Toon1978 // Jul 13, 2008 at 11:17 AM

Chennai toon i really think Owen needs a reality check i would swap him my job for his job for a month then he would run back to football with his tail between his legs. Not happy at taking a wage drop is beggars belief i mean what the hell does he spend all that money on, it really is beyond me. GREED has taken over football. People like Owen dont realise how lucky they really are if he wont take a drop then he should go else where. Some working men will never get that sort of money in their life time never mind in a week. If Owen is unhappy then F… OFF else where greedy self righteous w…er.

  • 41 kizza // Jul 13, 2008 at 11:21 AM

we was happy and 5 million was cheap for him. ok i accept he hasnt preformed. but he was still a good player when we signed him from chelsea. and people were buzzing about him. but now i accept he is past it

I was not happy when we signed Duff as he had just been poor at Chelsea and you could see he was declining, come to think of it, he only had one good season at Chelsea, and he was mr injury back then aswell so i dont know why we went for him

  • 44 Soren // Jul 13, 2008 at 11:34 AM

Agree with Nick Dryden, not a huge fan of Ferdinand, but would be excellent deal to ship Duff out.

  • 45 Toon1978 // Jul 13, 2008 at 11:36 AM

i remember not so long ago i was getting all hyped up with rumours of Turan, Gomis, Gomez, Arshavin, SWP, Crouch, Rdv,Metzelder,Modric coming to the toon lol and who should we sign…………………………………GUTHRIE hahahaha well that sums up Ashley saying he cant afford it with 2 billion pound in his bank account. JOKE!!! Cmon Ashley please give is some quality and entertainment next season. If the quality of player is dropping then the price of a season ticket should also drop.

Please god keep Duff , only because i would hate to get Ferdinand..

  • 51 faustino // Jul 13, 2008 at 12:06 PM

Toon1978 – the point regarding investment and control is valid but it takes him a real long time to say anything of worth. There’s a whole list of boll*cks justifying last weeks rubbish first.

The Bin Ladens investment in Amiens was the ONLY ‘justification’ they had for running that story. It’s only cos we’re the whipping boys that they were linked to us.

If anyone in London had bothered cheking they’d have noticed a redvelopment of the area around SJP thats been going for about five years and will be going on for a further five years from now.

The comment about a cave was in direct repsonse to the photos of Osama in a toon top run in every red top rag as an adendum to this so called story. Obviously Osama DOES live in a cave and obvisouly he doesnt want him as a business partner ;) .

  • 52 jules // Jul 13, 2008 at 12:06 PM

Dont want Ferdinand and would rather give Duff a decent try. On his day can be a good winger and has also shown the willingness and aptittude to play as a wing back

  • 53 clinta // Jul 13, 2008 at 12:12 PM

Duff’s old, injury prone and let’s face it past his best, we’d do well to get our 5m back for him, but once again i think you over estimate the players value, in a similar way that you did with emre earlier on ed.

when you sign a player and he plays very little, spends alot of time injured and well ages…! the price of the player tends to go down, not up!!

he’ll i’d probably swap him for ferdinand but curbishleys not silly enough to agrre that.

  • 54 chuck // Jul 13, 2008 at 12:18 PM

Rather give Duff a chance this season, the guy did`nt become a bad player overnight .
take into consideration his time out with injury,it takes a bit of time to come back, he has been playing well for Ireland recently.
As far as Ferdinand, another Titus im afraid, lacks concentration.
Need a defender with experience to marshal the back line .
I really think if we can keep both Duff and N`Zogbia, they could form a terrific interchanging pair on the left and both have the ability to score.
Our recently recruited Gutierres onthe Right interchanging with milner, not the best side in the PL but fair.
The club cannot afford to lose any more talented players , things look desperate at present, a squad down to the bare bones, with the possibility of losing Both Owen, Martens and Nzogbia.
With people like Guthrie, Bassong etc being signed, sorry does`nt do anything for me.
Like to know “exactly”who is the responsible figure for this shamefull state of affairs.
The present condition of the team requires major surgery, get out the check book or put the club back on the market, either sell or revert to a Plc. Thats if you cant afford to run this as a competitive club Mr Ash.

  • 57 9 Shearer // Jul 13, 2008 at 12:29 PM

I donot like ferdinard. they played well fo under 21 but they were playing with young kids but this is EPL. I would keep Duff who hasnt said anything than keep Zog. We ve alot of defenders in the making. Get Collocini not Cuellar. we ve experience from Boumsong he was from Rangers 2 and had had a good season.

  • 58 Nenad The Serbian Mag // Jul 13, 2008 at 12:30 PM

One West Ham player I’d like to see at Newcastle is Noble, and maybe that Faubert bloke if he’s still alive…

  • 59 Tom_Toon // Jul 13, 2008 at 1:05 PM

What a deal this would be.

Getting rid of the overpaid piece of shite (Duff) for a pretty decent, better than Taylor CB (Ferdinand).

  • 60 oga // Jul 13, 2008 at 1:19 PM

I’m sure even though Gutierrez is right footed, he operates on the left.

And Ferdinand isn’t as bad as you lot are making him out to be. However he wouldn’t be a good partner for Taylor. Not for another 3 years anyway.

  • 61 Tom_Toon // Jul 13, 2008 at 1:20 PM

Ferdinand-Faye is much better than Faye-Taylor.

  • 62 totsy // Jul 13, 2008 at 1:30 PM

i agree with tom toon i would much prefere ferdinand and faye at the back and then maybe in the future ferdinand and taylor because right now taylor isnt in the greatest of form and still has much to learn

  • 63 xfer // Jul 13, 2008 at 1:34 PM

I’ll grab it… Duff is crap. He can dribble, but never past defenders. He can run, but never past defenders. Why would we want wingers like that.

  • 64 scott9 // Jul 13, 2008 at 1:35 PM

i really am not a big fan of ferdinand his attitude stinks and he made so many mistakes last season

  • 65 oga // Jul 13, 2008 at 1:51 PM

Thats what I meant. If we got Ferdinand, I would expect Taylor to lose his place until he shows vast improvement.

  • 66 toon_mad // Jul 13, 2008 at 1:52 PM

wouldnt complain if thats the best deal we could do…

we get rid of one useless player and gain a usefull one.

imo i think getting ferdinand out of london playing for a proper manager that can motivate him would do wonders to his game. i still rate him as one of englands best young defenders, hes better than dawson another english ch weve been linked with.

  • 70 Tom_Toon // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:01 PM

The thing is with Ferdinand is that he does make a few mistakes, but he is very quick and can make up for them a lot of the time.

But when he concetrates on a game he is top class.

  • 71 Spyro // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:03 PM

im not a big fan of ferdinand, but you can see the natural ability is there

  • 72 Tom_Toon // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:06 PM

Nah im not a fan either but you can see he is better than Taylor who is second choice CB, even though i think Cacapa should be.

  • 73 Spyro // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:10 PM

wasnt our defence best when cacapa and Faye were at CB? Cacapa just didnt adjust to the physical side of the prem quick enough, add to that fat sam kept switching the defence around

Cacapa is the smart CB and Faye is the no nonsense CB, the only thing is, neither are technical enough and will only invite pressure on to themselves by simply booting the ball away rather than picking a decent pass or dribbling out of defence

  • 74 Tom_Toon // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:14 PM

I remeber Cacapa dribbling up te pitch and picking a good pass many a times.

You could hardly call Taylor technical.

  • 75 FOX TOON // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:14 PM

I personly think this would be a good deal, Duff is gettin old now and the new policy is get get in young talent ready for the future, like Anton. Duff has had his good times here with us and I will always show respect for him, but he is just not as good as wen we first signed him, so yes this would be a good deal in my eyes.

  • 76 Spyro // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:17 PM

exactly tom toon, taylor is neither technical or no nonsense, so what is he? no one can tell me. i still dont feel cacapa is technical enough, rozehnal was better technically but he lacked in other areas, we have been unlucky in truth

  • 77 ObaFan2 // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:17 PM

    Just more paper speculation/ gossip.

Tbh if WH want a left winger and Zog wants to go home (lol) then why not go to WH? I don’t want Zog to leave tbh but I do want players at Newcastle to want to play for the team.

Anyway I’m just falling into the trap of talking about rumors made up by our rubbish press.

  • 78 ObaFan2 // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:19 PM

TT I agree, Cacapa looks much better going forward from defence than tracking back where he looks so vulnerable.

  • 79 natedawg // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:23 PM

i not sure about this we dont even no if we are after defenders at all, its all assumptions we have made, kk might think right i have kadar edgar cacapa and beye as back up for taylor and faye, gerimi as back up for beye, and possibly duff as back up for enrique i think our main prioritys should me creative mid , big striker, and a left winger if we get rid of either duff or zog , maybe one who can player as lb or lm

  • 80 natedawg // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:27 PM

Angryman the angry fantasist, lol, not entirely true imo.

  • 88 Spyro // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:37 PM

i wouldnt mind going for Cueller, looked decent when i watched him in europe, could play on the left cb position and help out enrique as i am sure he is still trying to learn english.

  • 89 ObaFan2 // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:41 PM

Cueller i think would be a very good buy.

  • 90 Tom_Toon // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:44 PM

    Cuellar s hardly technical….

  • 91 Spyro // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:47 PM

who said he was? i just think he would be a good acquisition because he is someone we have been linked with a lot and he seems a good defender, hopefully this bassong guy is technical

  • 92 ObaFan2 // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:49 PM

He’s had a great season in the SPL….if thats anything to go by.

  • 93 Tom_Toon // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:49 PM

You want an enforcer and a technical defender, i hardly see us buying 2 new cbs.

  • 94 Spyro // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:50 PM

im not going by SPL Obafan2, although i heard he was good in it, im going by what i saw of him in the UEFA, reliable, tall and strong defender who can read the game quite well

  • 95 ObaFan2 // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:51 PM

Spyro I agree and a realistic signing I think.

  • 96 Spyro // Jul 13, 2008 at 2:54 PM

Tom Toon i do not know much of Bassong, maybe he is a versatile cb who can also play lb. & rb. What i do know is that he will be available on the cheap as his team have been relegated. I could definitely see NUFC buying another quality out and out CB as we were after both Dunne and Woodgate, Cueller is in the same mould as those two

  • 97 HATE PRAWN SANDWICHES // Jul 13, 2008 at 3:07 PM

TT- we probably arn’t in for him but coloccini would be a fantastic signing!!
Spyro – given up on the rant! you all now how i feel! we’ll find out one way or another! just want the best for the club and supporters!!

  • 98 toon_mad // Jul 13, 2008 at 3:08 PM

toon 1978 im pretty sure mike ashley doesnt have 2billion quid sitting in bank account, hes worth 2billion becuase thats how much his business interests are worth, and with the current stock situation its actually closer to 1.5billion.

whereas someone like abramovich really does have billions in his every day bank account, theres a massive difference when it comes to spending millions upon million on something you will see little return on like a football club.

  • 99 ObaFan2 // Jul 13, 2008 at 3:21 PM

toon_mad, I heard MA had a bank full of readies as well as his business interests.

  • 100 tian // Jul 13, 2008 at 4:07 PM

get duff out, but dont get ferdinand either.
bring in swp to boost the attack, 2 quality defenders, and we can set off for bpl 08/09!! :D

  • 101 Ross G // Jul 13, 2008 at 4:17 PM

To be honest of the current Newcastle squad if we were actually backed to find replacements I would see the back of Ameobi, Duff, and especially Smith, but considering our current lack of backing we need all the first team players weve got and more. However we do need to sign defenders, ANTON FERDINAND IS ABSOLUTE RUBBISH!!!!! He is another Jenas type that if he came and did well would be saying I wanna go Chelsea, Arsenal, or Tottenham for the nite life, plus we need a 26 year old quality organising commanding CB. In the U21’s Taylor does this not Ferdinand and neither have the experience required to properly excel in the Prem. I wish we got in Barzagli, but there are other players available at cheaper prices of top quality or better than Anton at least. Ben Haim, Collocini (wud be more but way better). etc. One thing I will say though is I would much prefer Ferdinand to Dawson who is one of the worst CB in Prem history, you all may disagree, but why have Tottenham done so poorly considering there side? Its there backline, Ledley is good but always injured, Dawson always plays CB and although makes the odd good challenge it doesnt fool me. To be honest the ex Villa Bolton CB Gary Cahill had a great time at Bolton and he would be my bet for a young improving CB.

  • 102 Joe // Jul 13, 2008 at 4:23 PM

I can end this. Ferdinand said at the start of the window that he definately wouldn’t be coming to Newcastle. End of, never mind the fact that he’s a horrible horrible player!

Still wouldn’t mind seeing Lennon come though as replacement for the inevitable goings of Duff and Zog.

We’ll just have to be patient. We don’t have any idea who’s on KK’s radar and the papers DEFINATELY don’t!

  • 103 Joe // Jul 13, 2008 at 4:24 PM

Oh and I agree with Ross – Ben Haim and Cahill for me definately! Best defenders around that are still available and might actually come to us!

  • 104 Taiwantoon // Jul 13, 2008 at 4:49 PM

I like Ben Haim as well. I think he would make a big improvement to our defence.

I don’t think we will sign Inler anyway. The press have got it all wrong up to the moment concerning who we are signing. (Or we have failed in every single bid depends on how you read it)

  • 105 Mitch H // Jul 13, 2008 at 5:01 PM

I’d snap there hands off at the Ferdinand/Duff swop.

Duff’s totally shot as a prem player. Anton has plenty of natural ability & pace. Could potentially become a superb CB for us for years to come.

Steven Taylor/Anton Ferdinand both young & both potential full England internationals.
I doubt West Ham are silly enough to go ahead with the deal, but would be great bit of buisness for NUFC.

  • 106 alex scott // Jul 13, 2008 at 5:07 PM

    Duff couldn’t beat an egg!!

I’ll drive him to london myself.

  • 107 Bob // Jul 13, 2008 at 5:17 PM

The Shittu to Rangers deal is off, so Cuellar doesn’t seem likely.

  • 108 Pan // Jul 13, 2008 at 5:21 PM

Good deal if you ask me. I can’t stand Duff.
I also agree with comments that Faye and Cacapa were best pairing last season. Cacapa is a clever defender if you ask me.

  • 109 Joe // Jul 13, 2008 at 5:43 PM

I wouldn’t mind Duff at all if he was being paid on a pay-as-you-play basis as his biggest problem is injuries but as it stands he should be sold.

Won’t be for Ferdinand tho, not a chance. Didn’t Cuellar also come forward and say he didn’t want to sign for us?

Apparently Man City are lining up a bid for Ben Haim…cannot let this player slip through our net again! He would improve our back line massively!

  • 110 Spyro // Jul 13, 2008 at 5:49 PM

gary cahill is good, i would like him here

  • 111 Raghav // Jul 13, 2008 at 7:03 PM

we should swap him definetely, but with his broda RIO FERDINAND,Duffy is far more better then whole west ham team filled with x-magpies.

  • 112 Frankieboy // Jul 13, 2008 at 9:19 PM

    Raghav
Rio is under contract……….for the next Star Wars film playing the part of Ja Ja Binks ….again

  • 113 ronaldeano // Jul 13, 2008 at 9:51 PM

NOBODY was listening to me when i posted on friday AND Saturday when i said my mate texted me the very minute he saw Anton Ferdinand at st James Park. He was not lieing.

I hope we dont sign Ferdinand. He is a championship player at best :(

  • 114 Ausgeordie // Jul 14, 2008 at 12:57 AM

I’d sell Duff for five but would not spend it on Anton. If it keeps Zoggy on the left running I’d be even happier. Zogg deserves regular first team football and not playing at left back and he should be first choice. Give him and Enrique time to gel and they could be lethal.

I dont remember seeing much good defence wise from West Ham apart from Green saving penalties so its no for me re ferdinand.

  • 115 howaytheladsII // Jul 14, 2008 at 4:46 AM

Although I want Duff to leave, but I don’t think exchange with Ferdinand will be a good deal

Faye + Taylor looks solid in the center back

  • 116 Fernando // Jul 14, 2008 at 9:20 AM

Good player. I really hope you sign him!

  • 117 ronaldeano // Jul 14, 2008 at 3:22 PM

Are you still wasting your time on here Fernando you sad, pathetic little man! :)

We are a better team than spurs, get used to it man!!!!

  • 118 staffsmag // Jul 16, 2008 at 3:24 PM
