There are reports coming from Sky Sports today, that Newcastle are interested in a 20 year-old Czech defender.
Marek Suchy – 20 year old Czech would seem a good acquisition
The player is 20 year old Marek Suchý, who was born in Prague, in 1988.
He currently plays for Gambrinus liga club Slavia Prague, and while primarily a center-back, the youngster can also play in midfield. The Gambrinus Liga is the top league in the Czech Republic.
Suchý turned 20 in March, and has played for Slavia’s first team since 2005, and he was a star for the Czech side that was defeated by Argentina in the final of the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada.
The annual Golden Ball awards named him the promising young player in 2006 and Suchý has recently been pursued by Everton and Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers. Why do we immediately think of David Beckham?.  😀
The defender is said to be valued at around £2.5M, and before Newcastle entered the fray, Suchy had indicated that Glasgow Rangers were his preferred destination.
Suchy told Deniksport today:
“The possibility of leaving is still there,”
“On Monday I spoke with Mr Vandas and he told me the interest is still there.”
“But Slavia have not received a specific offer. That’s the problem.”
Pavel Vandas is Suchy’s agent.
The player was then asked if Everton and Rangers were leading the chase for his signature, and the youngster replied:
“No, also other clubs from the Premier League – Newcastle and Aston Villa.”
Looks like the player could well be a good acquisition for Newcastle, and the transfer amount looks reasonable, but he’d be one for the future, and would hardly walk into the first team.
However, we don’t know if his agent is trying to stir up some additional interest at Aston Villa and Newcastle, since Rangers and Everton have been interested in the youngster for a while, although no bid has yet been lodged.
Comments welcome.

Comment #6Faustino – I wrote the report earlier today but held it back – because i couldn’t see any reference to Newcastle being interested – until his quote just came from Sky Sports. Intially had his quote from last Saturday – but it was just about Rangers and Everton.
He would be one for the future – but we need experienced players in too.

Comment #10That is a bargain Suchy is quality, I watched that tournement and he was in my team of tournement. He is just 20 too, at £2.5m we should snap the boy up now, and then buy some other players, ooooooohhhh wait a minute we have to wait for some investors before we buy players as poor old Ashleys £2bn + doesnt spread that far poor guy, he must really worry about his finances how will he cope at Newcastle. Ashley out!

Comment #13i just sent the following to alan oliver
We (Newcastle fans) really deserve better than the piss poor journalism we get from the Chronicle sports writers.
Now I am not suggesting I write well or that I could put a sentence together in perfect English but what I am suggesting is that the Chronicle gets with the picture and pays attention to what people actually think about Alan Oliver and Lee Ryder.
We all thank the lord for the internet which saves us from having to purchase the newspaper.
Most Newcastle fans would gladly lynch Alan Oliver with a rolled up Chronicle for the weak and inaccurate journalism he consistently puts out.
Only last week he suggested that Newcastle had received no enquiries for the services of James Milner. However, in the same article he said that Newcastle were offered 3 fringe players from Liverpool in exchange for James Milner. So which is it Alan? Did Liverpool enquire or not?
Talking of those 3 players which were reportedly offered to us I seem to recall Alan Oliver describing them in a very negative choice of words.
It seems very ironic that 1 of those trio of players has actually signed for Newcastle full time in the shape of Danny Guthrie.
A few days later another 1 of the trio is heavily linked with a season long loan to Newcastle.
So which is it Alan? Are these players which you previously criticized worthy of the honour of wearing the famous black and white shirt?
I am guessing your tune will change now that you will look to contact Danny for quotes.
It seems all contact with the club and yourselves has been firmly ended! You have been left fishing around for quotes from the likes of Jon Beresford and Micky Quinn.
The rest of your stories are simply pulled off the official Newcastle website and worded in your paper in a manner which is intended to make the reader think you gained the quotes directly from the individual concerned.
It really is desperate times for the Chronicle. I am certain your sales will reflect that.
If you are naïve to think I am in the minority please feel free to visit nufc.com and true-faith.co.uk.
Unfortunately for the Chronicle all reports suggesting any one takes anything Alan Oliver prints seriously are “wide of the markâ€
Regards
Richard

Comment #17lets find out which players we can get that cost 2mill. If we get 7 players in the 2m bracket then ashley can say we got more depth in the squad and he has backed his manager.
That what he has planned for us to be top 5 team in his fat head

Comment #18If we really are in for him I believe he would rather go to one of the other clubs simply because of European football. Foreign players sign for clubs like rangers because they like the idea of the champions league but don’t realise just how poor scottish football is.

Suchy Is CLASS, quick, strng and confident.. a lot like Micah Richards.. and would walk into the first team,.. as will the three other new signings which will be concluded by sunday night

Comment #21As i wrote earlier i think we should target players that are up and coming. They should have played for their club’s first team for a few years and shown some degree of talent.
A player like this and other ones such as Steven Defour and Thomas Khalenberg would at least consider Newcastle as a club to move to.

Comment #22Broon ale, that was well put. I hope that you get a suitable response. We are not professional writers simply fans, and fans come from all walks of life. One thing that remains true is that we love our club and voice it in a manner that we are accustomed to. Mr Oliver on the other hand is paid to write and you would think that as an investigative journalist, he would research and compile his articles in a more professional manner. I wonder if he gets paid by the word rather than the content?

Comment #23Ross G – no wonder Newcastle fans are seen as deluded with numptys like you on board.
Ashley out? He’s by far the best owner we’ve had in my living memory! If he hadn’t come in when he did Shepherd would have been our LAST owner as he would have taken us down the pan and into administration!
Anyway – rant over… this Suchy kid seems good enough the little I know of him – would be a good one for the future

Comment #30Great comments Richard I don’t think it is just the chronicle being frozen out i think it is just the media in general.
I for one have supported newcastle since the days of the 2nd division and it is deadly quiet on all matters linked to to the club and it is very hard to get used to when we heard to fat freddie setting his mouth off every 5 minutes.
I think this media silence will continue and like chris mort said transfers will be posted on the official site..not on sky, setanta or what ever and we will just have to grin and get on with it.
The amount of players we are linked with is just insane and very few of the targets we are meant to have missed out on have probably never actually had bids made for them. That is my opinion..so keep your eyes peeled on NUFC and I suggest we follow suit and ignore all the speculation too as it has spoiled my summer so far.

Comment #33sirjasontoon, I share your sentiments. We should ignore such speculation until we hear directly from the club, however, this is the toon following. Never has a more passionate breeed of fan been known. Following the toon has often been referred to as a rollercoaster ride and with good reason. The emotions are allover the place as we all want to see them do well and get big signings. So sue us for being passionate! Its all part and parcel of following our beloved club. So lets try and be objective but we know we wont 🙂

Comment #34Looks to me that we have tabled massive amounts of offers to different players, players we’ve been linked with and vice versa.
And we’ve got a ton of negative replies aswell. One player after another snubs us, starting with Modric. Probably more than we know about…
But why?!?!

Comment #36So, what the opinion of Suchy over Cuellar?
I’ve been thinking that Cuellar was in the wings pending a replacement signing by Rangers. They seem to have already lost out on Shittu. I wonder if this could be it. They’re also interested in a Cardiff stopper called Loovens.
Any bets on us getting Cuellar and Rangers getting Suchy?

Comment #37I love these type of signings and believe they are exactly what we should have beefed up our squad with, like Guthrie
But the first team still needs addressing with quality ready to go players like Spiderman.
Not sure if i’m signing from the same hymn sheet as Ashley though.

Comment #38Sirjasontoon… correct my freind.
The fact is, as entertaining as it might be 90% of the names thrown up in the papers are plucked out of the air.. And if they drop lucky they will’claim’ the exclusive… We are being used to excelerate bids and increase wages by agents, the only player we have lost (that we wanted) was Modric… & woodgate in Jan.
Nufc keeps it’s buisiness private,. but tells the truth, when it s there to be told.
& Harrier..Hold firm… the Arda’s and the muchy’s, will be delivered..
And will everyone stop call Mike Ashly, he is no mug… and after the weekend many many of you will regret a lot of your comments.
Shoooooes off if you love the toon

I too get that feeling. After being used by the umpteenth agent / player across Europe you kind of get a feeling for this.
Would love to be proven wrong though.
