Newcastle In For Chimbonda Yet Again?

The Sunday Sun today is reporting again, that Keegan is still interested in Pascal Chimbonda of Tottenham.

Pascal Chimbonda – will be moving shortly from Spurs

Hasn’t this particular transfer dragged on for ages and ages?

Pascal met with Sunderland manager Roy Keane, and the Frenchman was extremely impressed with what Keane had to tell him, and what his plans are for the Wearside club.

The Sunday Sun is reporting the player will now “think about things for a few days” before deciding on whether to move to the Stadium of Light.

According to his agent, Roger Boli, both Newcastle United and Everton have also made clear their interest in his player, and we think the two day thinking it over time is to give those clubs some time to make their move, if they are indeed going to make one.

We’d be very surprised though, at this stage, if Newcastle actually tried to bring Chimbonda to Tyneside, after being linked with the player for months.

We like the player, but he wouldn’t be a massively popular acquisition, according to the comments of most of our readers on the site.

Kevin – are you reading this? 😀

We’ve started a poll on whether Pascal would be a good singing for around £4M, so please register your vote -thanks.

Comments very welcome.

i hate chimbonda as a person but ill say one thing for us signing him,

we could play him at rb and move beye to ch where imo the short time hes played there in games looked a better ch than anyone at nufc.

According to the sun chimbonda’s agent has confirmed that we are interested, yet they don’t include any quotes to that effect.
Surely if he had actually said we were interested they would have included the quote.

    The sun is a disgrace.

Why move Beye who could be the best RB in the league this season. Chimbonda is a good RB but should we not be looking to get in players that are missing before getting in two players for one position, RB in my opinion is one of the last places in need of strengthening. Beye is quality there, then the likes of Taylor, Edgar, and Faye can also play there, even more so Geremi who i think should have been used there more often, he is very similar to Solano but defends alot better, Geremi uses the ball so so well. I hope this is rubbish, even though Chimbonda can play LB too I much prefer a left footed LB (wudnt mind Lahm though). We need 1 or 2 CB, a LB, a DM, a AMC, and a big CF.

i would never say out of the question but if he plays the way he did at wigan then he would be an axcellent signing as he played brilliant and even got in team of the season along with given i mite add but if he can change his attitude and kev can get the best out of him then why not even though this wont happen as he is signing for sunderland and his wages are to higgh which means there is no way mike ashley will pay that amount of wages for him as it is to much of a risk

The only reason his agent has come out with this is to try and force the mackems to up their offer.

Garbage as far as I am concerned

Why spend £4m on him when we already have one of the best rbs in the Pl? We need a left back, Nicky Shorey would be availabe for £4m, he’s quality. Beye & Shorey would be really good. We need a lb, cb, cm, winger & striker.

no this is a good thingif the agent is trying to get more money for chimbonda who cares its the mackems who are paying all that money for him and the more money they spend on him the less money they have for others which can not be a bad thing

Chimbonda is the antithesis of what the club is after: getting on, money-grabbing mercenary, disloyal, wouldn’t add to the squad. And was impressed by Sunderland…

I think if Newcastle signed Xabi Alonso then all our problems would be solved. Mostly.

I been really fustratred with the lack of transfers thinking we not got money, bolton spending more that on us, tight owner, etc

But i thought of something that gave me hope. MA cant allow keegan to leave cos if he did there would be a massive revolt on his hands. He knows the fans would go sick if it came out that keegan left for lack of funds than what he was promised

So if keegan gets unhappy right to the brink MA has no option but to back keegan with the funds or support that he needs, the alterative is far worse. Fans would hate him, no one would wanna buy the club in such turmoil ,not get out clause.

    Im feeling better now.

Alonso is an awesome call – think about it – they (liverpool) need the money for Barry – Juve aren’t playing ball at the minute…

KK steps in and says, “Hey Rafa, give us Alonso and I’ll cross your palm to the tune of 13 mill… what do you say??!”

    And he signs…

Laurent Robert, Oliver Bernarnd reminds me of these type of players who are happy to sit on bench and collect the money inn!! Deffo do not sign him Kev. Go for riqueleme or van de vaart as CAM options, think anton ferdinand would be a mistake need a LB and Couple of CBs and maybe new striker if we sell shola could get leroy lita or kevin doyle off rrading for cheap and could use them as midfielders 2!! maybe anyway lol

VDV will not come, he just confirmed that he will play in HSV this upcoming season.

    One thing is for sure:
WE NEED MORE PLAYERS AND NOT ONLY YOUTH BUT ALSO PROVEN QUALITY TO STRENTHEN OUR TEAM AND TO GIVE KK MORE OPTIONS TO PICK HIS TEAM!

I really am worried about the lack of transfer activities. Unless we sign 4 or 5 players I will still be worried.

    Why?
    1. We need to improve from last year and I can’t see it happen with the current squad (imagine 3 players being injured and then a suspension or so, which team will play then???)
    2. The top players (Beye, Owen, Martins, …) will stay if they know that the team will go in the good direction (getting more and more quality)

Come on MA prove my worries wrong.

No No No! he’s a gold plated prick! we need a left back not a right back we have an amazing right back in beye! we should drop £4m on Shorey as he would fit KK’s style of play & could become the next Bez! must admit lads would love alonso at our club he’s fantastic! mind u would it be worth us goin for barry? prob no chance of gettin him tho! we should bid for Lampard! wise could sell him the toon! pay him a good wage, he’s still class & would score us 20 a season as well as making plenty for owen oba & viduka! would like to see carrick in a toon shirt, quality player & a geordie to boot! but i dont think we’ll be spending a penny on any of these 3 so no point in gettin my hopes up! shorey could & should be a realistic target tho! comon KK get him in!
