Peter Ramage was born and bred in the same town that the Charlton brothers and Jackie Milburn made famous – Ashington, which is about 15 miles north of Newcastle.
Peter Ramage – has settled well in London
And it seems from the reports down south, that Peter seems quite happy with life at QPR, as he gets used to his new life in London.
Peter wanted first team football, as he did when he signed his last contract at the club, under Graeme Souness, back in 2005.
The club couldn’t guarantee him that next season, so against the wishes of Kevin Keegan, Ramage decided to move on and leave the only club he had ever played for.
However, he seemed to make a good choice, and moved to a club on the up, in QPR, and we would expect the club to be challenging for promotion from the Championship in the coming season.
Peter was interviewed today on BBC London and said:
“It has been enjoyable”
“The lads have helped us settle in, it has been a good start and the management have been terrific.”
Ramage made his Queens Park Rangers debut on Saturday, at Broadhall Way, against Stevenage Borough, and they won the game quite easily by 3-1.
However, Peter didn’t play at center-back, his preferred position, but apparently put in a solid 45 minutes at right back, where he actually made his Newcastle debut, before being withdrawn at half time.
Newcastle fans know Peter as a hard worker and a solid player, who hardly ever lets the side down, and he’s just a great professional.
As far as the game was concerned Peter said:
“I thought we did quite well,”
“We were a bit rusty and tired because we had a tough week in Bath but we tried to win the game because it is important to get that winning mentality.”
We’ll be following the QPR results this season, and checking in to see how Peter is doing down south, but it looks like he’s off to a solid start, and that’s good to hear.
Comments welcome.

Comment #202and if Liverpool is offering 60M for Keane, no matter how much they earn they are going to lose money this year. i.e., they better sell Xabi Alonso (to us) right a way.

Yea I know! That’s actually a bit tough for ppl like us to see. I need to drive to work everyday (there’s almost no public transportation in my city) and the gas price has gone up almost $20US every time I refill gas and I am talking about at least once a week. I know and I am sharing the pain. The money goes to Chelski probably.

@geordiekk, so I think you mean that Abramovich is getting his income mainly from Chelski nowadays or otherwise he’s just spending from his retiring account of 10 to 12 billion. um… interesting!
Heading off now mate. See you later.

Comment #214If anyone reads a comment from ‘Spyro’ on another blog it isn’t me. I only comment on this blog but it seems fernando is immitating me on other sites so that you lot will read it, guy is a sad little nob. He is only doing it because i keep on identifying him despite his constant name changes.
Oh yeah, and i never made up nothing about no press conference. It was the Spurs mug. People who have spoken to me on here will know i am not a guy to predict conferences or players signing.

“Spyro was making the press conference up. He seemed to think it would be funny to get our hopes up. Why is everyone slagging off Arshavin and modric. 3 months ago everyone would have been delighted if kk had signed them. Is it a bit of envy or has fernando just wound everyone up.”
This is clearly Fernando again trying to wind you lot up, just read what he has written here. Why would an NUFC fan say this!? prat

Comment #219Something to share about Jonas if you haven’t heard of it. No idea if it is realiable or not.
Harry Redknapp has been offering an insight into some of the players he has missed out on in his time at Portsmouth.
They include Juan Vargas, Michael Carrick, Argentina international Juan Pablo Sorin and, most recently, his countryman Jonas Gutierrez.
Redknapp told The News: “I would have taken Jonas Gutierrez for the money he cost Newcastle.
“We offered 8m Euros for him in January. He ended up going for 2m Euros.
“I don’t know how that happened. I haven’t got a clue how that worked out.
“I was surprised when he moved. I couldn’t believe it when I was told the fee.
“There’s a court case pending I understand. That’s the problem.
“He is still part owned by his old club in Argentina and Mallorca. I think the two clubs want more for him than what they got.
“I don’t know how that will work out.
“I liked him, though. He’s a very good player.
“I think he paid up the last year of his contract, but I suppose Newcastle will look after him in that respect by paying him up.
“But he’s a good player, very good. He got in the Argentina team. He’s a brilliant talent.
“There’s a lad in Italy, Juan Vargas, who has just move for 16m Euros.
“I had him over for three days last year. They wanted about a million or so.
“I liked him but he went to Italy.
“It’s hard. He wouldn’t play in any games and I just had him in for training, where it is hard to judge a player.
“You win some and you lose some.
“Juan Pablo Sorin has just been released by Hamburg. I had a bad day with him once.
“I got him to London with me and Milan Mandaric, when he owned the club.
“He came all the way over to meet us, but Milan didn’t want to spend the money in the end.
“Then when he was back captaining Argentina in the World Cup Milan was telling me we could have had him!
“Michael Carrick was another one. We could have had him for £2.5m.
“He was on his way down for a medical.
“But in the end we didn’t pay the money.”

Comment #222I am somehow puzzled by the “the ones who invest big are all going to turn out to be the next Leeds” theory.
As long as there are enough cash flow, most clubs will do just fine IMO. I don’t think it is easy to find too many businesses in the real world that are not taking advantages of managing their debt in order to create more cash flow for the moment. It’s just absolutely normal. Leeds was an example of how you can fail a big time but it does not mean that debt is only evil. Look at what Arsenal has done with their debt?

Comment #223I have unfortunately come to accept we will not make any big signings. I do admit believing we would when there was strong rumours of bids for Modric and Gomis.
However Keegans latest comments being he hopes to get in 4 ‘quality’ players, predominately in defence suggest we will not get the show peice player in we all hoped for. I would even point to the poor bid for a potential washed up player in Aimar as an example of this.
I think we have to be grateful we have players like Owen and Martin. But prehaps even more so for players we know have quality and not always shown it, like Duff, Geremi, Cacapa, Taylor, Viduka, Milner and Barton all of whom have had critics on this site, as we are really going to have to pull together as there does indeed seem to be a very small transfer fund on offer (which does surprise me!)
So even with 4 players coming in at some point, i think this should be the least amount of players arriving, my dreams have been shattered, regarding any big purchases.
Heres hoping for some extra investment soon!

Comment #226Toon Sg – He did…Which is why half of the tripe you read in the papers can not and should not be believed!
Normski – You were talking about Benfica only paying Aimar 18k week…First of all, that sounds ridiculous! Why would he willingly take such a massive pay cut?
Secondly – IF that is true – it’s fairly ridiculous to assume Newcastle wouldn’t pay it! We’ve just given Stevey Taylor £30-35k a week…Is he worth double Aimar’s wage – NO!
Don’t believe all the bollocks printend in the papers…Each paper is given a certain amount of sports pages to fill, each sport is given a certain amount of space…Footie is popular so they have to find something to write about – doesn’t mean it’s true…watch:
Newcastle United To Bid For Kaka…
In a sensational move to hijack Chelsea’s plans to sign the Brazillian forward, Newcastle United are considering a bid for the evangelical christian’s services. A source close to the club has stated “Keegan knows what a great player Kaka is and therefore is very interested in bringing him to the club.” More to follow…
See – The source close to the club could be a random crack-head stood 100m from SJP. The quotes are always loose – e.g. everyone in the world knows Kaka’s a great player and every manager in football would be interested in bringing him to their club.
The ‘considering a bid’ bit can’t be seen as slander because all it takes is for Keegan to think ‘God it’d be nice’ for him to be viewed as considering it!
It’s so easy to bend the rules and get by on technicalities – being a sports writer for the red tops is barely even a job!

Comment #227Would love Baptista and Inler in the center of midfield! That would frighten other teams, as well as providing height, speed, strength! As well as the ability to pick a pass they would both offer a defensive element (esp Inler) and would undoubtedly grab a few goals 🙂

Comment #228Taiwantoon – There is a huge recession heading the business world’s way mate and it won’t just ignore the Premiership. All this debt these clubs have racked up better have well managed interest rates, put it that way.
Economically, it’s not quite as simple as this but it works as an example –
Compare, the picture of a person heavily in debt, who earns their money of the basis that other people have relatively large amounts of money to spend on leisure time.
Now a recession hits and the people who used to spend the money have far less money for leisure due to re-managing there own financial issues. As a person dependant on this money, you are left with the double whammy of debt re-management due to a struggling financial world and large changes of income.
The thing is with financial mind, they tend to be arrogant due to the large purple patches that they endure. But history is littered with the same ‘genius’ minds hanging from lamp posts and jumping from buildings when the whole thing crashes.
In no way is the phrase ‘do a Leeds’ irrelavant and in no way is ANYONE in the Premiership immune to it.
If you examine the so called ‘Big Money owners’ we have the only self made man. Something we should be happy about, as I guarantee a jackpot Russian oil billionaire, a questionable ex-Thai dignatory and a few neo-aristocrats from the States aren’t the people you want at the helm if the UK economy does a nose dive.
Liverpool and Man United particuallry are on edgy turf startegically as they are managed by US business types. Not renowned for their acumen during times of struggle. More abject panic, pay-off and retreat.
