N’Zogbia and £5M For Celtic’s McGeady – No Way

The bastion of truthful reporting in sports – The Sun – has today surpassed itself by saying Newcastle United have offered £5M plus Charles N’Zogbia for Celtic’s top winger Aiden McGeady.

charles-nzogbia-132.jpg

Charles N’Zogbia – we hope he stays at Newcastle

That mind you, only a few days after Aiden has signed a new 5 year deal at Celtic, so it’s a bit hard to believe, as usual.

And only recently Kevin has said he doesn’t want to lose any of his current players, so a part exchange makes no sense.

Once question we would have is how much better is Aiden McGeady than Charles N’Zogbia?

After all Charles is an excellent young prospect, so what would Newcastle get out of it, other than losing £5M?

McGeady had a great season last year in the SPL, there’s no doubt about that, and the player is well known to top Premier League clubs. In fact it turns out that Arsenal had tried to sign the youngster when he was just 16 years old.

Aiden made his senior debut for Celtic at just 18 years old, and has already excelled in the Champions League — which he wouldn’t get to play in if he joined Newcastle, although he would get a better financial deal.

And why on earth would N’Zogbia want to go to Glasgow, since it’s in the other direction he wants to move – to London, to be with some of his family. That’s if he moves at all of course, and we hope he doesn’t.

So we give very little credence to this Sun report – in fact none at all.

absolute rubbish. no way is this happening. mcgeady had a good season in the SPL, i dont think he’d be able to hack it in the prem. there’s no question we’d be losing out here, to give away zogs, and 5 mil, would just be madness.

The fact McGeady has just signed a new contract and Keegan has stated he wants to keep N’Zogbia shows that its rubbish news. Papers should really think about what they write.

Exactly ross, that would mean we rate Mcgeady at around the 12-13 million mark, and lets get real, he is worth around half that

GM, yeah Emre’s deal final done….. wonder if that means we will be signing a replacement soon ….. 😆

This story about Zog is pure fantasy as McGeady already signed a new deal recently adnZog aint heading North lmao…. or maybe he desperately wants European football…….

How do the papers get away with this fantasy reporting !

At least we are not the only ones unhappy about the lack of incoming players, been on other club blogs today (slow day at work !) and the majority are maoning about the lack of movement and most are slagging their board off as well, everton think we are going to hijack their deal for moutino (not sure how to spell his name) at £16 mil…..I think not !

What a stupid story this is! what kind of mug would think that was a good deal? we could get at least 8-10m for Zogs so Celtic saying he’s worth £15m? P#ss off! lets go for swp! he could evenb play in behind front 2 i think!

I know i said McGeady was a one trick pony, but i atually take this dela because he has end product (goals or assists), unlike N’zogbia who just run into a dead end.

tom toon you contradict yourself, you claim hleb to be better than arshavin, hleb has absolutely NO END PRODUCT. Arshavin is better than him in every area apart from his dribbling ability.

yet here you prefer McGeady to Zoggy due to Zoggy having no end product

hleb has no end product i doubt that as he was in the arsenal team for 2 years running and has a good assists tally.

    This Spryo is Fernando.

There’s an article ( http://www.keep-the-faith.net/20080723/story3.html ) from a Celtic site, basically taking the p*ss out of us for this.

Unsurprisingly, there’s nowhere to leave responses. Very brave.

You have to ask yourself why they would entertain such “news” as to have a go at us about it and not the Sun for MAKING IT UP.

I’m growing to dislike Celtic fans more and more after a few of their number chimed up on here last week acting the big balls because they get into the Champions League.

Well done for winning your two team league. Enjoy your flyweight winger who wouldn’t cut it in the prem.

Actually, I’ll take that back. I’m growing to dislike some of their fans. Some of the lads that chipped in here last week were alright, but some of them were just plain dickheads.

    And they say we’re deluded.

In three years Hleb got 7 goals and 10 assists in the league, you call that a good assists tally? He has no end product, you have contradicted yourself here.

And i am not fernando, i just saw you arguing with agnetha/fernando/chikitita/etc about this the other day.

I wouldnt even bothered writing the article, which is ironic seen as im now responding to it.

Anyway, why would KK say he’s happy with his commitment one day and that he’s not indicated he wants to leave, then offer him as bait in a deal unlikely to be expected anyway? all that would be left would be a discruntled zog, and then he really would want to leave..

they are direct assists, wha he added to the team was great too.

Anyway Fernando, you cant argue the toss.

Hleb has played for Arsenal and now at Barcelona, Arshavin has only played for Zenit and had a few goods game in european competitions and didnt emerge until he was 25/26.

Nope have never argued with Chikitika or whatever he/she/it’s name is, nor Spryo before, only Agnetha and Fernando.

You are Fernando/Agentha, you sound nothing like Spyro, for one he agreed with me that Hleb was the better player.

The Sun did what it does best – invents tosh to make people take notice. Look at how many of us have responded so far.

But it’s tosh. Celtic gave an off-the-record briefing to the Glasgow sports hacks weeks ago to make plain the bhoy was not for sale.

They would not turn down a big money offer though but no way would they sanction a cash+player deal. Zog’s staying on Tyneside.l

Hleb is a wonder player and his link up play has been awesome for the last 3 years, perhaps this is the reason that hleb is now a barcelona player and no-one is buying arshavin.

    Quite clearly Fernando.

He is just better than Arshavin. Facts mean nothing as far as im concerned (unless you are a striker i.e. goal scoring record).

It does not measure his input to the team whch was great.

You are obviously Fernando otheriwse you wouldnt be arguing about Arshavin and Heb when the real Spyro already agreed Hleb is better whilst you, a spurs fan are arguing the toss about a player you think your deluded little team will get.
