There’s a little bit of news today we just don’t believe one little bit.
Damien Duff – he’s going nowhere next season
Newcastle United’s chances of signing Blackburn’s Stephen Warnock have been reported to have increased – with the Tyneside club said to be willing to include Irish International Damien Duff in any deal.
But after Damien’s superb performance last Saturday at Hartlepool, with 3 excellently taken goals, and Kevin Keegan’s glowing words of praise for his Irish International last weekend, and the fact that Duff has also lost a lot of weight in the summer, and looks just great – there’s no way Newcastle would let Duff leave the club this summer.
Did we make that clear enough?
The Daily Telegraph is reporting this news today, and we just don’t believe it has any truth in it at all.
Newcastle recently had a £2M offer for Stephen Warnock turned down by Blackburn Rovers, and rumors have it that we have since increased our offer by a further £1M.
Duff moved from Blackburn in July, 2003, when the club received an amazing £17M offer from Chelsea, in the early days of the Roman Abramovich era.
Keegan has also recently spoken about wanting to keep all the players he currently has at the club, and has said swap deals make no sense to him, because we don’t add a player to the squad with those types of deals.
While the Daily Telegraph is usually very fair and decent in their reporting, we have to think they are just way off on this one.
