Newcastle Determined To Close Coloccini Deal

Newcastle United will be getting a top-class player if they succeed in their efforts to sign Argentinian defender Fabricio Coloccini.

fabricio-collocini.jpg

Fabriccio Coloccini – top class player

Miguel Angel Lotina is the current coach at Deportivo and that’s his verdict, if Newcastle are successful in their attempts to finally capture the player from Deportivo.

Lotina said today:

“If Coloccini goes it will be the great disappointment of the summer,”

“The team that takes Coloccini will be getting a quality footballer, a footballer to take your hat off to, and they will be playing a dirty trick on me.”

“He is a tremendous footballer for what he gives on the pitch and in the dressing room.”

The Evening Chronicle are reporting today that Newcastle are still negotiating hard with the Deportivo club and the fee is now at 11M euros – plus one million more in add-ons – for the Argentine international.

So that’s around £8.8M plus £1M in add ons – so close to £10M in total.

We reported earlier this morning, the 27 times capped Argentine International has already agreed lucrative terms with Newcastle and he is very keen, to say the least, to move to Tyneside.

But the move is now at a kind of stand-off, with Coloccini’s agent Marcelo Lombilla more than upset at  Deportivo president Augusto César Lendoiro.

Lombilla has also denied there had been a bid from Tottenham Hotspur, who yesterday received an amazing £20.3M from Liverpool for their Irish striker, Robbie Keane.

And to think we could have had Robbie for around £5M in January 2005, but he wasn’t the type of player then manager Graeme Souness was looking for.

Instead he brought in Jean Alain Boomsong and Celestine Babayaro.  🙁

Coloccini’s wages will be more than doubled if he joins Newcastle, and the player is no doubt anxious the deal is completed.

Lombilla added:

“The player is wanted in several places but the English league is what seduces him the most in both senses: economic and sporting.”

“It was proposed to Fabricio a five-year contract with a salary that’s doubling his current wages.”

“There wasn’t any other offer that was not coming from Newcastle.”

“I know Ramos personally. I have a good relationship with him and there was great interest but no offers.”

“The only one exceeding 10m, which I knew that could satisfy the president, was the one of Newcastle and it was also interesting for the player.”

That sounds a great offer for the player, and we hope that Newcastle will get this deal completed as quickly as they can – before other clubs move in – which they will if this drags on.

Then we can move ahead and sign 22 year old French defender Seb Bassong – and that should be a cake-walk in comparison.    😀

If Fab buys out his contract does that mean we get him on a free transfer? if it does, we should pay fabricio a big signing on fee because he will have saved us millions of pounds!

Hope we get this sorted out quickly and follow it up by buying bassong, warnock or el kaddouri from dynamo kiev who has said his agent is in talks with the toon and villa about a move. He was impressive against us in the champions league when we played kiev in the group stages. Either wrnock or el kaddouri should start ahead of enrique who was a rip off!!!

I think Coloccini and Bassong would be shrewd and welcome additions to the squad. We still need cover for RB and LB. Also another striker because Smith is not going anywhere (nor will he score) and Ameobi may even miss the deadline too. Not sure we can compete with Wenger Burger for Inler if Arse and All are chasing too. Just so long as we get loyal players and not mercenaries. Any news on Barton Fink?

well im getting tired of hearing 2 stories, 1 in wich the player is in newcastle and the deal is close to completion, and the second state-ing that its far from complete because depor are being greedy, i wish the rest of the toon fans would stop dreaming and just wait and see what pops up on the official http://www.nufc.co.uk website, instead of listening to agents rambling on trying to get better offers for the player and trying to raise the asking price for him… waste of time dreaming just sit back and see what happens, end of the day your a supporter, what ever the manager and recruiting team decide to do, you have a choice, be loyal and support or go in a huff and walk away… i know what ill be doing

I have to say all this is worrying me but whatever happens will happen for the right reason, if there money grabbing and that means we don’t sign him then so be it we’ll move on and look elsewhere and if not we have a great player on our hands. I must admit though i’m slightly worried at spurs, they really are signing quality, lets hope they don’t click and the debt collectors come round to get their money back.

If we do manage to sign Coloccini and maybe Bassong or another – our defence should be ok for this coming season. Bassong / Warnock can play full back if needed as can Tozer (maybe still a little young though).

Remember we still have Faye back there, together with Taylor, Beye, Enrique and Cacapa.

With Butt, Barton, Milner, Zog, Gutierezz, Guthrie, Geremi and poss another fighting for 4 places in midfield and Martins, Owen, Viduka (when fit) followed by the chuckle brothers (hopefully they will be sold and replaced by a decent striker) up front, we should have a decent chance next season

He is considered in the top 3 CBs in spain.

He is a continental CB (technical and quick) but also strong.

Very solid CB, will organise and lead our back line a deffinate improvment on what we have with great club & international experience. Very physical aswell so should settle in prem pretty quickly.

will be a great signing!!! certainly the best defensive signing since woody (not saying much, i know)

Tbh, i think its kinda risk to pay 10m on an untest-epl defender.
If he doesnt do well, keegan’s job will be in danger.
    Still want him thou!

I hope we get this guy, hes strong, quick and has a strong influence on other players. Something weve needed at the back for a while. Sign him, bassong, Warnock and a strong dynamic centre midfilder such as Inler and il be happy. Stil think we need a creative player though.

tom, having lived in scotland for the best part of 20 years and followed the ‘beautiful’ game up there i can tell you now that Cuellar was head and shoulders above everyone else in last seasons ‘gers side and is easily on a par with coloccini

Still think jimmy bullard is worth a punt – hes not too young but he wouldnt cost the earth, is quality on the ball, full of running and enthusiasm and seems to be a top bloke with good character

Hertz – i agree. Does seem a little ridiculous, but i’m so desperate to get another a player that i don’t care how much we pay for him.
He will be a good signing imo. According to wiki (unreliable) he is best friends with Nicolas Burdisso, so maybe if we could get Colo Burdisso will be persuaded.
Also think Colo’s signing is a declarartion of intent, as i regard him having quite a big reputation. Could intice other players to sign

Best button it in future as you will continue to be made to look like a proper muppett AGAIN.

Looks like it is the wrong time to be trying to get players on the cheap.

Alan Johnson for £13m, Keane for £20m and now Sunderland are offering £10m for Saha???

Why we didnt try and get Cisse for £6m-9.5m I do not know, he is looking cheaper by the day, he scores more than all of the above! Even though I think Keane is brilliant, I wonder how Saha wll do?

This player above we should pay for, it has never paid to save money at the back.

Agree about Bullard, he is another good player.

    hopefully soon 😀
and in response to a comment made erlier about tottenham worrying him, i agree, and also man city, jo will be a star, and 1 of the premier leages best strikers by the end of the season….but givit a few seasons, and will be there….and tbh i can c them threatening chealsea and arsenal aswell as liverpoole, and mash up the ‘top 4’ so there is no guarentee who will win…while we quietly buitl on our team…and then…badoosh….man u n newcastle the 2 teams in for the title….part fromt his time round the story will have a happy ending 😉

faye will still play a fair few games i think tho, as hes a quality dm, as he showed against Chelsea when kalou and the ref robbed us of a point.

this morning LoonyToon Posted this comment:

@surjasontoon….not modetrating my friend….we are having a conversation regarding MO….and in my humble opinion (I can also say what I want) the comment “See spurs are now in for coloccini…and I can see them landing him as well : (” is trying to pish on peoples chips…..try doing a little research before you start making off the wall comments….his agent has already stated there is one offer…from us…and he hasnt had any offer from Spurs…. there seems a spate of people on here who think they know what they are talking about…when infact its quite clear that they dont….when is your season ticket coming through the post by the way? mine is due on the 11th August…like it has been for the past 21 years….thanks….”

Can you point these people out please?
    Or are you a bottler?

Being the mr know it all that you claim to be and rubbishing everyone else why don’t you start your own blog..better still replace Oliver and the Chronicle.

I like the looks of that defence.
