Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan has today said Newcastle are close to another transfer breakthrough.
Kevin Keegan – new signing within 24 hours
Newcastle, as we reported in our squad analysis this morning, have signed Jonas Gutierrez, Danny Guthrie and Sebastien Bassong this summer.
However Kevin has said on Spanish TV, following this morning’s training session, that he hopes to recruit another top player by tomorrow.
Keegan would not reveal the identity of his latest target, (surprise, surprise), but it is no secret the club has been trying to sign Deportivo La Coruna defender, Fabricio Coloccini, for some time now.
 Coloccini - let’s hope it’s him
Maybe that will be the player, which is consistent with one of our earlier stories today that the deal would need to be ctrlosed today.
We hope it’s Coloccini, and then there will be only three to go to vomplete the squad – keeping our fingers crossed.

We need a world class defensive midfielder more than any other position to protect the back four.
When will fans realise the most important player on the pitch is a Defensive Midfielder.

We already have a luxury player in Owen. So we can not get another Ronaldo/Deco type player unless Owen goes
We do not need a creative midfielder, ours are already good enough! Only if they are given a licence to go forward by having a world class DM behind them.

if warnock is the signing i would be very pleased but as long as we dont loose duff in the process, i know alot of people dont rate him but we need depth in our small squad and loosing a player would leave us thin again

I personally want a CAM – that was my priority at the start of last season and will continue to be until we find one, HOWEVER, a good DM would both eliviate pressure from the defence AND move the ball possitively, so that the likes of Owen and Zog can drop back slightly to create the triangles to get in behind defences…
Colloncini, Inler, Derdiyok etc. I’d be over the moon with…
Warnock, Lennon (Bentley’s got his place…) El-Kaddouri, and the other Argie defender – I’d take but would feel slightly under-whelmed

Jonas can play right across the midfield, Warnock can play lb or dm and colloccini can play cb rb and dm. i think we will sign colloccini and warnock and i think there could be a shock massive signing before the window closes also a couple of up and coming youngsters.

Not so long ago I was thinking about puttin a bet on Blackburn going down. I did last season with Bolton, and they almost did. I think they are in a similar situation (losing best player Anelka/Bentley, new manager Ince/Mini Sam, etc). Problem with Healy is he’s brilliant with Northern Ireland, but he doesn’t have much luck in the PL. Though this could be down to Fulham’s poor form last season…so as long as he wasn’t too expensive, I’d take Healy.

There’s no news on Arda being transferred or anything. The team went off to Germany today for a training camp and Arda’s in it too. He even sent a recent message to Fenerbahce on how we’re gonna win the title again this year :O
