Newcastle Hope To Announce New Signing Within 24 Hours

Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan has today said Newcastle are close to another transfer breakthrough.

Kevin Keegan – new signing within 24 hours

Newcastle, as we reported in our squad analysis this morning, have signed Jonas Gutierrez, Danny Guthrie and Sebastien Bassong this summer.

However Kevin has said on Spanish TV, following this morning’s training session, that he hopes to recruit another top player by tomorrow.

Keegan would not reveal the identity of his latest target, (surprise, surprise), but it is no secret the club has been trying to sign Deportivo La Coruna defender, Fabricio Coloccini, for some time now.

 Coloccini – let’s hope it’s him

Maybe that will be the player, which is consistent with one of our earlier stories today that the deal would need to be ctrlosed today.

We hope it’s Coloccini, and then there will be only three to go to vomplete the squad – keeping our fingers crossed.

Comments welcome.

Coloccini would be the obvious guess, although knowing the way things have gone it could be a total surprise.

    Never a dull moment!

I don’t think that if Kev was about to sign Colo, he would say that he will sign him in next 24 hours, and alert Spurs about it.

I think he means someone else, a complete surprise.

Honestly Ed as a present to yourself for hitting 7 million how about some new hosting! As much as it helps amplify the drama, the site crashing every time somehting half interesting happens isn’t good for the old ticker!

More than likely Coloccini you would have thought.

We need a world class defensive midfielder more than any other position to protect the back four.

When will fans realise the most important player on the pitch is a Defensive Midfielder.

Frank Lampard would of never got player of the year a few years back if it was not for the un-sung hero of Makelele.
Arse would have never been the same since P. Viera left.
Manure ruled when they had Keane.
Everton got fourth one year all down to Graveson.

Ronaldo is a star, why? Because he does not have to back track he is given a licence to roam, but to compensate Rooney and Tevez have to back track. Ronaldo is what I call a luxury player and any team can only have one on pitch at a time.
Look at us Ginola was a luxury player, Tina was also a luxury player. When we played them both we blew it! Should have been one or the other.

We already have a luxury player in Owen. So we can not get another Ronaldo/Deco type player unless Owen goes

We do not need a creative midfielder, ours are already good enough! Only if they are given a licence to go forward by having a world class DM behind them.

If we can not get Inler then we should go for

    LORIK CANA

We will then finish 4th I would put money on it.

dont be daft of course its not berba. never in a million years. he isn’t a newcastle fan, he’s a shearer fan.
if anyone comes in within the next 24 hours i’d say coloccini. fair enough the other 2 transfers have been kept quiet but depor have gone to the press with this one and its quite obvious we’re going for him.
Inler’s agent has said he’s going to speak to arsenal about a move today, it wont be him. it wont be arda either.

Nobby Solano. lol nah just kidding, legend though.

PLEASE let it be Coloccini. Though i’d be chuffed if it were Arda, I think i’d prefer Coloccini at the moment, a solid CB should be our priority right now in my opinion.

macca dont worry bassong is confirmed, from nufc.com

The 25 man squad traveling to Palma:

NUFC: Given, Harper, Krul, Forster, Enrique, Beye, Edgar, Cacapa, Taylor, Tozer, Bassong, Geremi, Duff, Guthrie, Butt, N’Zogbia, Milner, Doninger, Gutierrez, Martins, Smith, Ameobi, Danquah, Donaldson, Godsmark.

I don’t think it will be collicini or Inler. Got a suspicion it’s someone we haven’t been linked with again!
