Reports Newcastle, Deportivo Reach Deal on Coloccini

We are hearing from our readers in Spain, that an agreement between Newcastle United and Deportivo for defender Coloccini, is being reported tonight by Radio Cadena Ser.

Fabricio Coloccini – agreement reported reached between clubs

The radio report says that the two clubs have finally reached agreement on the player.

The deal is said to be for 11M euro (£8.8M), plus an incentive of 1M euro (£0.8M) by the player meeting certain objectives at the Tyneside club. This looks very like the Newcastle offer that was made.

His agent Marcelo Lombillo, said:

“It’s an agreement between the clubs and only remaining are the details of the contract,”

Coloccini is reported to be ready to travel to Newcastle on Monday, to undergo a medical and to discuss personal terms, and if everything is OK the player is expected to sign for Newcastle.

This is what Radio  Cadena Ser is reporting – so we know that part is true.

This is obviously not official, and we will have to wait to see if the Newcastle club issue any announcement tomorrow, about an agreement between the clubs indeed being reached.

But most Newcastle fans need a lift after tonight’s performance, so let’s hope the radio report is factual, although our own record on this site on these things has not been too good, to be truthful.

But we do know that Kevin has said he hopes to announce a player signing within 24 hours, so we hope it’s Fabricio, but you never know.

We do know that Deportivo’s President Lendoiro had decided to travel to Venezuela tomorrow, and if a deal wasn’t reached before he left on Saturday morning, it would be delayed, presumably until he returned to Spain.

Wishing and Hoping – especially after tonight’s very disappointing 1-0 defeat against Hertha Berlin.

Coloccini passed to the Newclaste after three successful seasons in the Sports one The Coruña, the defender of the abandoned Spain to be added to its new club. The transfer was carried out for 11 million dollars. Diego Colotto would be able to occupy its place Fabricio Coloccini, that in the last one three seasons played in Sports The Coruña,
was transfered to Newcastle of England, that will pay for its pair eleven million euro more a bonus of a million out of courtesy of objectives.

“Itself hill an agreement between the clubs and only reduce details of the contractual part”, confirmed Mark it Lombilla, representative of the player, in radial statements.

Next Monday Coloccini would be arriving at London to close the agreement and to be carried out the medical review.

The footballer that sounds to replace to the former Mouth, San Lorenzo, Milan, Alavés, Villarreal and Athletic Madrid is that of its countryman Diego Colotto, former defender of Students of The Silver that at present is performed in Atlas of Mexico.

Agreed Cooper. Until its announced on nufc.co.uk I can’t truly believe it, but I can believe IN it! Lol.

Heres hoping this is an extra bonus transfer, and not the “24” one KK promised us! : )

He’s 26. Really good buy, I’m delighted. I know he’s not popular at the best of times on this site, but you have to give some props to Ashley for not caving in to the extra money Depor were looking for. We need to change our European reputation as a club that readily overpays. We really need a midfielder with a bit of creative flair before the season starts though, showed up tonight that we need someone with the vision to feed our forwards better. Also, Shola Ameobi should never be allowed to represent Newcastle again, he’s a Championship player through and through and it’s about time he realised it and pissed off to Norwich!

Bloody hell you lot don’t count your chickens yet. I’ve seen far too many twists and turns so far this transfer window and until Spuds shrivel up and die like the cockney spew they are or Colloccini’s standing there in a Toon shirt I’ll always be looking over my shoulder and doubting.

Howay lads, get the bloke over tomorrow not monday!

    From the Times (Online)

Newcastle have finally reached agreement with Deportivo La Coruña over the signing of Fabricio Coloccini, who will become Keegan’s fourth addition of a frustrating close-season. After a long stand-off with the Spanish club, the 26-year-old Argentina international will cost Newcastle €12 million (about £9.5 million), a club-record fee for a defender.

Marcelo Lombilla, Coloccini’s agent, had threatened to report the La Liga club to Fifa over their handling of the transfer, accusing Augusto Lendoiro, the Deportivo president, of demanding more money when a settlement had already been negotiated. “There is an agreement between Deportivo and Newcastle,” Lombilla confirmed to Spanish radio last night.

Coloccini, who joined Deportivo from AC Milan in 2004, has been capped 27 times by his country and will join Jonas Gutiérrez, his compatriot, on Tyneside. Keegan has also signed Danny Guthrie from Liverpool and Sébastien Bassong from Metz, although the manager has described the latter as “one for the future”. The manager still hopes to sign a left back, with Stephen Warnock, of Blackburn Rovers, the subject of two failed bids.

The “spine” that everybody is talking about as essential for success, could be formed by: Coloccini/Faye, Arshavin and Owen/Oba.
This would mean great things ahead for us.
We certainly need some great players to build a new team around, and these whom I have mentioned are surely good enough for that.

woot! i just hope we sign a left back and another striker soon.

should be pretty solid with Taylor, Faye & Collocini in centre.

We won’t get Arshavin. Every team is being priced out of a move for him. Plus with our chairman I doubt he’ll be willing to shell out 20mil for him.

    Good signing in Collocini.

i would like to see taylor partnering collocini…….

lets face it taylor is the man for the future
yes he makes odd mistakes but he is 22
and needs to learn from a good defender, which was missing all these where he had to play with all championship standard center back

toon up i agree with you mate, i think Taylor was good tonight along with Enrique, Jonas,Duff, and i thought Guthrie made some good passes but i was suprised with Milner he was busy as usual, made a good little jink in the box to beat a player BUT the rest of the game he was p.ss poor and couldn’t beat the first man on his crosses. Geremi,Cacapa,N’Zogbia,Butt, were really poor, Butt let pass after pass go astray. Smith was in no way interested and should be sold asap and Ameobi, i feel a little sorry for him but he is not a PL player in any shape or form he also must go.
