It looks like the Radio Cadena Ser reports last night were correct, and that Newcastle and Deportivo have finally agreed a deal for Argentine International, Fabricio Colccini.
Fabricio Coloccini – deal agreed between two clubs
We had reported yesterday morning that Deportivo’s President Lendoiro had decided to travel to Venezuela today, and if the Deportivo Executive left without a closed deal for the defender, there would be a delay.
And of course last night we issued the news that was being reported by Spanish Radio Cadena Ser, that deal had in fact been reached between the clubs.
It turns out that Newcastle United and Deportivo had been negotiating face to face for the transfer of Fabricio Coloccini since Thursday night, and on Friday both clubs agreed the terms of the deal.
There is still no official confirmation, but it is now being reported the deal is for Deportivo to receive €11.5M (£9.2M), plus €2.5M (£2M) for incentives that are achieved.
Yesterday we reported Deportivo were holding out for €12.5M (£10.0M) plus €2.5M (£2M)for incentives – so it looks like they came down €1M (£0.6M) in the base price and €0.5M (£0.4M) in the incentives.
The initial price is £10M which could rise to £12M if Newcastle achieve certain objectives – like winning something?
Depor Sport informed in its Friday report, that their President Lendoiro and an official from Newcastle United (Dennis Wise?) were negotiating the deal since Thursday’s evening.
On Friday night, reporter Gonzalo Soto from Radio Galega issued the news that the negotiations were already completed, and that’s the report we put out last night after our 1-0 defeat against Hertha Berlin.
Although we held it back for over 4 hours, waiting for other news channels to report it, but they didn’t.
Payment of the incentives will depend on two things, Newcastle’s results and the individual performance of the Argentine.
Gonzalo Soto also reported the terms of the payment would be €6M in cash (£4.8M) and €5.5M to be paid in one year (£4.4M).
Then it turns out that 15% of the transfer fee will be divided between the player and his agent, and it will be paid by Newcastle.
No wonder his agent Marcelo Lombillo was so keen to get the deal done – and we thought it was for the good of the player. 😀
In greater detail the report from Radio Galega says that Deportivo are now waiting for an official confirmation coming from Newcastle United in order to announce the transfer.
We have also heard that if the deal goes through, the Argentinean defender will travel on Monday in take hos medical with his new club.
Seems like the next step is to keep looking at the Newcastle United web site and hope we get confirmation that this is the case sometime this morning.
It also corresponds to Kevin saying yesterday that he hoped to announce a big signing within 24 hours.
We’re so pleased it seems we have Coloccini wrapped up.
