More Details On The Newcastle Deportivo Deal For Colocccini

It looks like the Radio Cadena Ser reports last night were correct, and that Newcastle and Deportivo have finally agreed a deal for Argentine International, Fabricio Colccini.

Fabricio Coloccini – deal agreed between two clubs

We had reported yesterday morning that Deportivo’s President Lendoiro had decided to travel to Venezuela today, and if the Deportivo Executive left without a closed deal for the defender, there would be a delay.

And of course last night we issued the news that was being reported by Spanish Radio Cadena Ser, that deal had in fact been reached between the clubs.

It turns out that Newcastle United and Deportivo had been negotiating face to face for the transfer of Fabricio Coloccini since Thursday night, and on Friday both clubs agreed the terms of the deal.

There is still no official confirmation, but it is now being reported the deal is for Deportivo to receive €11.5M (£9.2M), plus €2.5M (£2M) for incentives that are achieved.

Yesterday we reported Deportivo were holding out for €12.5M (£10.0M) plus €2.5M (£2M)for incentives – so it looks like they came down €1M (£0.6M) in the base price and €0.5M (£0.4M) in the incentives.

The initial price is £10M which could rise to £12M if Newcastle achieve certain objectives – like winning something?

Depor Sport informed in its Friday report, that their President Lendoiro and an official from Newcastle United (Dennis Wise?) were negotiating the deal since Thursday’s evening.

On Friday night, reporter Gonzalo Soto from Radio Galega issued the news that the negotiations were already completed, and that’s the report we put out last night after our 1-0 defeat against Hertha Berlin.

Although we held it back for over 4 hours, waiting for other news channels to report it, but they didn’t.

Payment of the incentives will depend on two things, Newcastle’s results and the individual performance of the Argentine.

Gonzalo Soto also reported the terms of the payment would be €6M in cash (£4.8M) and €5.5M to be paid in one year (£4.4M).

Then it turns out that 15% of the transfer fee will be divided between the player and his agent, and it will be paid by Newcastle.

No wonder his agent Marcelo Lombillo was so keen to get the deal done – and we thought it was for the good of the player. 😀

In greater detail the report from Radio Galega says that Deportivo are now waiting for an official confirmation coming from Newcastle United in order to announce the transfer.

We have also heard that if the deal goes through, the Argentinean defender will travel on Monday in take hos medical with his new club.

Seems like the next step is to keep looking at the Newcastle United web site and hope we get confirmation that this is the case sometime this morning.

It also corresponds to Kevin saying yesterday that he hoped to announce a big signing within 24 hours.

We’re so pleased it seems we have Coloccini wrapped up.

very good news, bout time we splashed the cash, however after last night it is still clear that we need something different in the middle, and that we cant start the season with smith and shola up front so a striker is now a must

Sky Sports broke the news he’s signed a 5 year deal according to Marca. SS then rung Newcastle and they’ve said the deal isn’t complete but talk are in an advanced stage with the player.

I’m assuming that means he’s as good as signed but Newcastle want the glory of revealing it?

He will be a welcome addition but we still need a creative midfielder. I thought we were lack lustre last night. There was no flair and we looked really flat. You can tell our key strikers were not in action. Was Smith actually on the pitch?

Guess it’s staying at £10m then!

Seriously though – this is an excellent signing for a player coming into the prime of his career.

A couple more creative players is what we now need – and Ameobi and Smith deported would help too….

I think Smith was metioned about once in the text commentary. Ameobi on the other hand, squandering chances all over the shop again. Just give him away for free to Roeder PLEASE. I’d love arda but why would we sign yet another winger? Cardoza would be more than welcome to me.

Its hot hot hot here!! Bugger me backwards…

Thought I would just come on with a rant, re last night.

    GARBAGE!!
I thought we were poor, they were poor and signing Colocini will only draw a sheet of trcing paper over the massive cracks we have in the squad!!

Yet again, no creation, and to rely on Guti will simply not work!!

Did Alan Smith play last night

Does Shola wear lead filled boots

    Where was Guthrie

Nicky Butt was the only player that tried last night, the good thing about last night was that surely now tight arsed Cashley will have to go out and get at least 3 more decent players.

@ALEX, yes i can call him tight arse because net, he has still spent coppers compared to other teams in the league!!!

We need creative players and a striker. Our 3 main strikers are crocked and simply we have no one to take there place!!

    Rant over

Anyone over here currently, I here the lads are doing a signing sesh at Marine Land today!!

shall log on later to see waht anyone else ‘realistically’ thinks about the current situ

If everything goes smoothly with this one, than next will be left-back, and probably Warnock. Great to hear that Milner is optimistic to take over CM role. After that 1 midfielder, maybe amr if milner is going to play as cm, than this summer aint so bad.

Monday is too far let me hop nothin happens over the weekend.
Warnock next then we are done, Barton will do well if not banned by the stupid FA (fingers crossed).

    Beye……..Collocini…….Faye……..Warnock

naa man, i would rather have Milner or Zog playing instead of duff on the wing.

but, we still need a left back and another striker and if we really want to stregthen the squad a quality playmaker/midfielder to replace Emre.

im trying not to get too excited about collocini until i see him in black and white on monday

Great news brining in the lad, although after last night it is very clear that we need more in the centre of the park! But it was said that two players may be coming in over the next few days!! Inler?! That may add depth and creation to us…, and i’m agreeing with everybody else what the hell are Smith and Shameobi playing at! Go on…. F*!k off!!
I feel a young big striker needs to be brought in but its not the end of the world if we dont, at the end of the day our deadly three pronged attack did work really well at the end of last season! Don’t bother with Warnock, nothing special and we don’t want another Liverpool reject, no offence Guthrie but you’ll time will come in the coming seasons under KK’s magic.

ummm, actually i think those who are hoping that KK will get in creative midfielder will be disappointed after the transfer window will close, because in my opinion Kevin will use hard working, tackling, ball winning midfield as Barton, Guthrie, Butt, Milner, creativity force in team will be Wingers and probably push up full backs.

I hope this proves to be a good signing. But we definitely need more creative players at the club. Also we do need to get rid of smith and ameobi becuase they both have seem to have lost any ability to play football. Does anyone know how long does Ameobi and Smith have left on their contracts. This would give me some hope in counting the days before they will have to leave.

Everyone keeps talking about defence, while I think the real problem lies in central midfield and attack. Besides Owen and Martins, Newcastle don’t have anything to fill their void if one would get injured. Viduka is not the same player he once used to be, and imho doesn’t provide much to the attack. Smith and Ameobi should not play in the Premiership – period!

Central midfield lacks a creative player that can pass/distrubute, score and hold up ball. Right now, Owen is the best player that could play in that role. Putting him there, were would all the goals come from?

BTW, the signing of Colocccini is a great one! Even though I think we have bigger problems elsewhere in the squad.
