Abdoulaye Faye Wants To Leave Newcastle?

The People reported yesterday that Abdoulaye Faye wants to leave Newcastle United, after just one season on Tyneside.

Abdoualaye Faye – wants to leave Newcastle United?

We find this story hard to believe and perhaps that’s just what it is, a story.

There’s no doubt that both Steven Taylor and Faye will be under pressure if we manage to finally bring in Fabricio Coloccini from Deportivo, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed that new boy Sebastien Bassong has looked more than useful, in his first two games at the club.

But Abdoulaye is a good player, very strong in the air, and can also play in central defensive midfield, so we cannot see Kevin allowing him to go this summer. He also played very well with Taylor in the last 10 games or so of last season, and was a rock in the heart of our defense.

His attitude is also first class and he gives his all for the club, and that’s what the fans just love to see.  He will be an important player for the team this coming season, that’s for sure, so let’s hope this report is simply untrue.

The People say that Abdoulaye is keen on a move back to the north-west where he spent two years at Bolton, and that Geordie manager Steve Bruce at Wigan would be interested.

We are finding it hard to recruit top players, so the last thing we want to see is some of our players leaving.

If we can keep everybody we currently have at the club right now, with the exception of Ameobi, and with the possible exception of Alan Smith, we should be in good shape come the end of the month.     😀

Complete non-story. Cacapa might be the one to go instead as he’s fifth choice centre-back now.

I’d like to see Faye and Coloccini our first choice CB’s this season. Don’t believe that story for a second. He had a good season with us last season and I can’t see any reason for him wanting to leave.

Sign collicini, warnock and skjelbred in the next few days and i will be happy. Skjelbred can class as one for the future meaning two more top players to come. Also sign Derdiyok as one for the future leaving us space for two top midfielders, i would love benayoun and inler.

I hope it is wrong, but could you imagine the club as it currently stands without Keegan?

Who above him is bothered about Newcastle as a club and not a wage or profit?

This is probably rubbish but if the club no longer gets inward investment it could be a taste of things around the corner, what club did these players think they were joining and what where they told the future would be?

Surely not… Keegan rates him, he’s our best defender and the fans like him.

Personally I expect that if/when Coloccini arrives the two of them will be our first choice CB pairing, they’re both strong and have a great aerial presence, and Faye always looks dangerous when he goes forward for corners.

I expect this is just the usual press b*llocks though, I certainly hope so anyway!

On another topic – that of LB. Apparently the toffees are letting Baines go. At one time he was being rated. Is he burnt out or is he worth considering as cover for Enriques? I reckon Bassong could cover there. He did some fair defending when he went over to the left side at Mallorca. Faye is not leaving – too valuable and too experienced. Wigan can have Smith as he functions as an extra defender for the opposition anyway.

Yeah, I wouldn’t believe storys like this that he wants to leave. I’d be tempted to play him as a defensive mid in front of Colo and Bassong (when we actually sign them!!)

@ Ericles, Baines may be worth a punt but he’s coming back from that injury and no telling where hes at fitness wise

Why would we let Faye leave, he can cover for nicky butt if/when he’s out injured so there shouldnt be a problem as far as getting a game comes into it!

Get rid of shola and smith, neither of them are premiership class!!!

Rubbish – see my post on other thread about London based press. Where would Faye match the wages we’re paying him? Where would he have 50,000 fans watching him every other week? Where would he be first choice and still play for a big club?

    Bloody press.

I really don’t believe this piece of reporting but IF it’s true, we will be left with Bassong and Taylor to fight it out for the spot next to Coloccini, with Cacapa and Edgar providing backup.

Once we get Coloccini wrapped up, we really need to move for a LB.

from what i saw last night bassong looks as if hes better than faye and taylor anyway. i saw him constantly blocking off players from balls over the top with his pace and strength. with colo clearing everything up in the air and bassong mopping up i could see them two having a gd partnership.

i used to rate taylor alot but recently he has done the opposite of impress me.

Who would be your first choice CB pairing?

Bassong looked pretty good last night – quick and strong with good positional awareness. A few more games like that and I’d pick him ahead of Taylor. He looks far more able to recover from any mistakes he made.

Dont really care about Faye 30yr. old average player, can easily be replaced.
What exites me is the proposed take over by either the worlds sixth richest man or the wealthy Singapore investment co.
From what i read both have made offers in the region of £260m. with £100m. available for the transfer market.
    Makes Ahbramovich look smalltime.
So Yeah, probably all paper talk and more dissapointment, but hey what if its true. What do you think !

Smith, Ameobi and Geremi need to be thrown out of the club straight away, they are a disgrace to our club, I hate the feeling of being embarassed of players as poor as they are.

Colo and Bassong next season will be our best defence since… Woodgate?

Need some midfield enforcements and creativity, with a long term link up striker, Derdiyok preferably.

More rubbish to fill the newspaper columns.Faye was our best defender last season in my opinion.
If Coloccini is signed then we will have a strong defence when all players are available.
Still would like Warnock to sign though.

    Ed,

On the front page of the blog for the report “””Anil Ambani Story Is Untrue – Surpise Surprise”” the wording goes: –

“”How many times in the last year have we seen sensational reports in the Sunday newspapers about Newcastle being bought, only for all parties to deny them as rubbish the next day?””

And then we have the Faye story from the Sunday people.

When are we going to stop wasting our time here with these reports. I see it as a complete waste of money buying the paper to report from, and then a complete waste of finger skin typing a report on the rubbish they print which in the long run only makes them print more rubbish. Which in turn gets rubbished by the blog readers!!!!!

I have said for some time (as have others on this blog) and stuck to my word that I will not buy these **newspapers because when I do I am supporting them throwing filth at St James’ Park.

(** newspapers : – should be done under the trade description act for not actually printing news)

Sunday People… I wouldn’t wrap chips in it for fear of poisoning.

I also urge all who read this blog and all other Newcastle supporters to boycott all filth flinging newspapers. We know who they are so let’s stop paying thier wages and fueling thier make believe.
