Ambami Sees Magpies As Massive Club With Massive Potential

While we still think the news that Indian Billionaire Anil Ambani is on the brink of buying Newcastle United is untrue, it’s also interesting what his people are saying about our club – some good stuff and true too.

mike-ashley-6893.jpg

Mike Ashley – owner of Newcastle United

The sixth richest man in the world was reported yesterday to have given a one week deadline to Mike Ashley, for him to accept a £260M offer for the club.

Ambami and his company denied this was true, only this morning.

Ambani is said to be worth £21B and a source close to the proposed deal told The Daily Telegraph today:

“Ambani has twice as much money as [Roman] Abramovich and his intentions are deadly serious,”

“His people will put a set of proposals to Ashley and if they don’t like them they will say ‘that’s it’ and turn their attention elsewhere.”

“They won’t be messed about.”

It is understood that English clubs with large fan bases, have attracted interest from Ambani, and Yorkshire clubs Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday are also interesting the Bombay-based Billionaire, and Everton are also said to be within his sights.

But it looks like Newcastle United, with their terrific and passionate fan base is his number one choice, as the source continued:

“They see Newcastle as a massive club with vast potential,”

“They know they already attract 50,000-plus crowds and wonder what would happen if they get back into the Champions League.”

” But they also see India as an untapped market as well.”

This billionaire seems to know what he is talking about, doesn’t he?

Now let’s think – wonder if there is any truth in this story? 😀

I still think he may buy our club ….

Business moguls, dont do their business in the press, so of course this was always going to be denied.

Its a good person to want to buy us.

He seems like a good business man who isnt stupid like Man Citys Owner.

And to have all that money is just what is needed cos without it we can never push for Champions League as ALL the teams in this day and age require rich RICH owners to compete.

    Man Utd
    Liverpool
    Chelsea
    even Spurs

are spending up to 50m a Season on players and 20m + on 1 player we cannot compete forever on CHEAP youth players.

Even the brilliance of Wenger cannot keep up, he NEEDS to spend big SOMETIMES,

    COME ON BUY US PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets just say, for the sake of argument that this conjecture was true. How would everyone feel if Ashley DIDNT sell 100% of his stake, sticking to his guns and was only willing to sell 49% share.

Causing Anil to then turn his attention to Leeds/Everton/Shef Wed turning one of them into a massive footballing force.

    Id be well gutted.

Poor Ashley, he’s darned if he does and he’s darned if he doesn’t

sell him a 49% stake or something,

ashley says he wants investors, and you dont get much better than this guy

good point that he may only want to be the sole owner of newcastle though Dondatta13 (if these rumours are even true)

Profitable Group operations director John Nordmann has come out and rejected any takeover claims.

“It is not accurate at all. There is no truth whatsoever with the report. Yes, we are doing some promotional work with Newcastle. But we’re not in talks with them about any takeover. People just put two and two together and came up with five.”

cmon guys are there really all you want is money ? M.Ashley is a good lad and Football Club should be the one which makes money, not like chelsea, where everything is about money, money, money and there is no need to think… Im very pround that our owner is M.Ashley and i want him to stay for a long long time

Whether this is true or not, I don’t know, I believe its unlikely.

I just hope that, if it is true, we can carry on strengthening the team during this window, and not wait till the next one because MA won’t spend with a takeover imminent.

    Just a thought 😉

We will never move forward under the present regime or we might but it will take years and loads of luck along the way.

Ashley just seems uninterested in spending money on players…hopefully if we do get sold they can get rid of the recruitment team who have managed to sign one senior player between them so far.

Any news on coloccini and the signing that was promised in “24 hours (on friday)?

Nothing has been spent on players since Ashley came here…and the squad is fragile and very thin.

He may have money, but if he were to take over, would he be investing in the club, or loaning us the cash, like Abramovich has done at Chelsea…

Chelsea actually owe him over 500 million, as he was only loaning the club the money, he expects it back.

Personally I want Ashley to stay. He seems to have a genuine interest in the club and financially is getting us back into the black. If he wants to find other investors I’m all for it, but I think he has an emotional connection to the club now. I can’t see him leaving the club completely.

Dunno about everyone else, but the whole thing feels a bit sordid. I have this picture in my mind of the club posing like one of those Amsterdam ladies in their windows trying to get a rich punter. And it also feels that MA having had a one night stand has got what he wants and now wants to dump us. On the other hand we could be misjudging him, it’s up to him to prove it and show some real committment. i.e. Splashing some real cash for starters.

If he’s worth £21bn don’t you think he would have offered a better deal for Ashley if it were true? £260m would never be enough to convince him to sell so why bother? the answer is-he didn’t bother. If he wanted the club that badly then he would have made an offer Ashley couldn’t refuse–he can afford it after all. Ashley probably asked for investment in the club if anything but even that is doubtful as he’s already said he’s looking for investment from the north east NOT the far east. don’t believe a word of the NOTW scumpaper, or it’s big sis the Sun.

Guy’s seriously, there will be no truth in this; I’ve become so worried at the lack of transfer activity at the club, that I have been questioning the role MA has at our great club, without actually stepping back at evaluating things rationally.

MA does not want to sell the club. I firmly believe he loves this club dearly. It’s just human nature for us the fans to question his intentions, more so when things don’t appear to be progressing as we had hoped. I for one, am rather pleased with his actions, it shows the club means more than just financial gains to him. However, I do believe MA realises that he requires additional funds to further the club, therefore, rather then sitting back and doing nothing, or taking out excessive loans to purchase players and destabilising the club with huge debt, he is proactively looking to invite investors. For this reason, from what I can understand, associates have approached this chap and offered him the option to invest in the club. If this is the case, then surly we must all respect MA for that.

I think we all need to be realistic, we all are aware Keegan is a man of principles, and if something wasn’t quite right he would walk – Well why isn’t he walking, maybe it’s the fact Keegan knows exactly what’s going on in the behind closed doors.

If Keegan has to work with his current crop of players he is not going to stay.

When he was signed by mort and ashley surely he was told that he would be backed to build his own team..instead he is stuck with Allardyce rejects, strikers who can’t score and a transfer pot the size of a thimble.

sirjasontoon – we have moved on massivley as a club since Ashley took over… were not on the verge of collapse for a start!

For the first time in years the club has an agenda other than a trophy signing just before the season starts to keep the fans happy.

Maybe its just me but if this Indian guy does take over (and I wouldn’t blame Ashley for selling at a profit as half the fans are on his back to open his wallet every 5 mins) and he does spend £150m on players – will that not take out some of the passion of our club just as it has at Chelsea.

And what happens when he gets bored and walks away leaving us in the brown stuff? Who comes in and picks up the pieces then?

    You’re a bunch of whores.

Ashley has poured £280m into our club and has turned it into a decent business. He’s proved that he wants to invest by making offers for the likes of Modric, Arda and Aimar. That we haven’t attracted the players you all want is not down to him, it’s down to our finishing in the bottom half of the league for the last two seasons and the lack of European football.

We have secured some talent this summer, and we’ll buy more.

Honestly, the first person to wave a bit of cash at our club and you lot drop your knickers like a cheap hooker.

I hope this is just more press drivel. I, for one, would like to see Ashley stay and live up to his committment to “win something” other than fickle supporters contempt.
