Enrique – I’ll Repay Keegan For His Faith In Me

Jose Enrique has said he wants to repay Kevin Keegan’s faith in him, by making the left-back spot his own this coming season.

Kevin Keegan – Jose wants to repay him for his faith in youngster

But Kevin will be certain to sign another left-back this month, to give the 22 year-old youngster some competition next season.

Enrique didn’t seem to get a fair crack of the whip under Sam Allardyce, and when he did play, he looked more than decent for one so young.

But when Kevin came in January he gave Jose an extended run in the side, and it was great experience for the youngster, who still has a lot to learn, by his own admission.

Jose was expensive at £6.3M from Villarreal, but he ended the campaign as a permanent fixture in Keegan’s team, and we know there’s a lot more to come from Jose, especially with Keegan guiding the youngster.

And the young Spaniard, who has slimmed down appreciably this summer, under orders from the boss, credits Keegan with rebuilding his confidence which had been hit a bit by his uncertain start in the Premier league.

Enrique continued:

“Since Keegan has arrived, I have played much, much more.”“My confidence has been lifted a lot by this, and the fact that the manager has confidence in my ability.”

“I have to say that our fans stand out so much when we play in the Premier League.”“You can hear them at the home games and even more than the host club at the away games.”

“There is a big difference between the supporters at Newcastle, and anywhere in the Premier League.”

“Even in the pre-season games they have been very loud and behind us all of the way.”

Jose is another young lad at the club, who not only looks like a good player for the future, but he’s got such a great attitude.

That’s one of the big positives about the squad we have right now – we have so many youngsters, who have the potential to become big players in the future.

And there’s no better manager to help them achieve that, than Kevin Keegan.

Comments welcome.

I’m looking forward to seeing Jose playing next season. We saw some glimpses last season. With someone pushing him, could turn into a v.good player.

He’s only young and defenders take longer to mature. He learned a lot last season and will be that much better in the coming campaign.

I like the guys spirit, in all honesty the toon backroom and scouts must have seen something special to sign him for 6.3mil, i can see him really taking the stage this season, and when people say hes made mistakes so far for us, he has but in all fairness to the lad hes only dead young and has made up for those mistakes. One thing ive gotta say i dont see why we sold young Paul Huntington i really liked him and felt he would have got better with age!! Lets hope we see Curlycini flying through the doors this week, closely followed by Inler and and the big swiss striker!! Come on 2nite, anyone know if u can make the screen bigger on the NUFC site for the game, ive found its only small :S!!

I dont think we need another lb – especially if there are only going to be 3 new faces – Coloconni being one. THe other two must include an AM (Moutinho) and a striker (Derdiyok) – I think we also need Inler and Larsson to add some competition/variety to the midfield.

Are Amoebi and Smith being rested or is Smith really being phased out?

Just seen the team on official site…where’s the strikers?
Probably score more with Keegan and Mcdermott upfront than Smudger and Shola.

Expecting a goal fest tonight not.

It’s a bit random yes, maybe the rumour about the Smith bid being accepted is true? I wonder if Coloccini will be at the match too…

I’d love to know what the formation is tonight.

Allman20 there is a button at the bottom of the window that allows you to see it full screen. Jose Enrique is a good player and has much more determination than N’Zogbia. He is talented and I remember when last season he went forward and dodged a couple of players before whipping in a good cross. Great work from him in his first season especially under King Kev’s guidance and he can only get better.

The NUFC site is clear as mud regarding the fee payable – £3.99 a month or £17.99 uptil the 31st july and then £34.99 a year – WTF its hte 6 Aug – does that mean that you have to pay both the 17.99 and the 34.99 ??
and will it be enabled in time??

It’s £17.99 for this season (upto 31st July 2009) and then after that 34.99 for 2009 season (unless you cancel)

I am fearing we won’t score again tonight. Everyone is injured!!! WE NEED STRIKERS!!! I think more of a priority would be a creative midfielder and a forward because we have Tomas Kadar to fill LB spot in case Jose Enrique gets injured. It’s plane for all to see that we need strikers, what if this would happen mid-way through the season who would we put up front?

How are we going to play? I dont think Smith is rested he is living. He is crap KK knows it.
This how i see it. CORRECT me if am wrong.
    ……………………..Given……………………………..
    Beye………..Taylor……….Cacapa……..Enrique
    Geremi………Guthrie……..Butt………..Gutierezz
    ……………………….Milner…………………………….
    ………………………..Duff……………………………….
What is wrong with Zogs. Dont tell me he has joined the injury list. He would have played ahead of Geremi then that will be entertainment.
Geremi is going to kill our speed.
