Jose Enrique has said he wants to repay Kevin Keegan’s faith in him, by making the left-back spot his own this coming season.
Kevin Keegan – Jose wants to repay him for his faith in youngster
But Kevin will be certain to sign another left-back this month, to give the 22 year-old youngster some competition next season.
Enrique didn’t seem to get a fair crack of the whip under Sam Allardyce, and when he did play, he looked more than decent for one so young.
But when Kevin came in January he gave Jose an extended run in the side, and it was great experience for the youngster, who still has a lot to learn, by his own admission.
Jose was expensive at £6.3M from Villarreal, but he ended the campaign as a permanent fixture in Keegan’s team, and we know there’s a lot more to come from Jose, especially with Keegan guiding the youngster.
And the young Spaniard, who has slimmed down appreciably this summer, under orders from the boss, credits Keegan with rebuilding his confidence which had been hit a bit by his uncertain start in the Premier league.
“Since Keegan has arrived, I have played much, much more.”“My confidence has been lifted a lot by this, and the fact that the manager has confidence in my ability.”
“I have to say that our fans stand out so much when we play in the Premier League.”“You can hear them at the home games and even more than the host club at the away games.”
“There is a big difference between the supporters at Newcastle, and anywhere in the Premier League.”
“Even in the pre-season games they have been very loud and behind us all of the way.”
Jose is another young lad at the club, who not only looks like a good player for the future, but he’s got such a great attitude.
That’s one of the big positives about the squad we have right now – we have so many youngsters, who have the potential to become big players in the future.
And there’s no better manager to help them achieve that, than Kevin Keegan.
