Cameroon’s experienced International and Newcastle’s former captain, Geremi, has today said what many Newcastle fans are well aware of.
Geremi – trying to bring in more players next week
That’s the fact the Tyneside club don’t have enough players to mount an attack on the upper reaches of the Premier League next season.
Geremi is rightly concerned by the lack of strength in depth we have right now, and is personally keen to see additional new faces before Newcastle United begin their season at Old Trafford on Sunday, 17th August.
Jonas Gutierrez, Danny Guthrie and Sebastien Bassong have been the only new arrivals at St James’ Park this summer so far, and Coloccini is expected to come in within the next day or so. We’ve also let 5 senior players go this summer in Emre, Ramage, Carr, Rozehnal and Diatta.
Kevin Keegan has wisely resisted the urge to overhaul the squad he inherited from Sam Allardyce, when he returned to the Tyneside club in January.
Geremi said in The Sun today:
“We don’t have enough players,”
“We hope we are going to get more next week.”
Newcastle were linked today with Congo DR and Toulouse left back Herita Ilunge, and we think Newcastle will bring in at least 3 more players in addition to Coloccini, by the end of the month, but that may still not be enough.
What do you think about this?
