Argentine defender Fabricio Coloccini has finally arrived in Newcastle, to complete his £10M transfer to Newcastle United.
Fabricio Coloccini – a Newcastle player today?
That’s the really good news reported in the Newcastle Evening Chronicle today.
We know that Newcastle and Deportivo La Coruna agreed the fee in writing yesterday, and we understand now that Fabricio has finally arrived on Tyneside.
Coloccini will of course have a medical and then sign along the dotted line. We believe the terms that Newcastle will offer the Argentine will be no problem, so hopefully (and how many times have we said this) he could be signed today.
But Coloccini is a good player, and while he has never played in the Premier League, he is such an outstanding talent, that we have to hope he will settle in quickly at the club.
Coloccini has been training with the Deportivo Junior squad, while the rest of his first-team colleagues are in Venezuela for pre-season training.
Once the player signs, the first thing for Newcastle is to get his fitness assessed with Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan and top fitness coach Mark Hulse.
The very first thing obviously is whether he should get a haircut.
They will then decide whether Coloccini will make his debut tomorrow, but we doubt this very much, even though the opposition is a team he knows well from the Spanish League – Valencia.
Let’s get the player signed first, and then he can get to know his colleagues and watch the match from the stands tomorrow.
First things first.
Comments very welcome.
