Mr Ashley Has reportedly given Mr Keegan the goal for this season, forth place! c'mon Mike, be optimistic will ya, following 3 defeats and a draw (one being donny), was that fourth bottom you plum, by all means 4th would be great and 1st even better but personally i think we should be targetting 6th, which is probably more realistic.

Enough of that,
Sir Bobby should definately have recognition @ St James Park

@ GLENN

you talk a lot of sense there mate, but the point about joe harvey isnt a fair one coz most people dont mean he should have it named after him because of his success in terms of trophies - i think the majority of people feel he should be honoured because of the way he lived his life, the adversity he overcame time and time again, the reputation he gained as one of the worlds finest manager, and the pride and dignity with which he served our great club. maybe naming a stand after him is going too far but he's certainly more deserving of it than sir john hall is!! he needs to be honoured by more than a statue, even if not a stand

good point about the city of newcastle honouring him rather than just the club though - thats a really good point and a great idea

Stan Seymour (born 16 May 1895 in Kelloe - 1978) was a footballer who played and managed Newcastle United.

Stan Seymour is one of the all-time Newcastle United greats, and was known as 'Mr. Newcastle' after the various years and roles he delivered for the club.

It didn't take long for Seymour to become a crowd favourite at St. James' Park, his performances helped Newcastle win the FA Cup in 1924 (a 2-0 win over Aston Villa, in which he scored). He was also part of the Newcastle team that were crowned Division 1 Champions in 1926-27.

His good service for Newcastle United were not forgotten and he was appointed the club's new Director in 1938.

As Director he had control of first-team affairs, He was manager of the club with the Directors Committee from 1938-1954. The club won the FA Cup in 1951 and retained it in 1952 whilst Seymour was at the helm.

3rd, 4th and 5th doesnt deserve more appreciation than this guy.

I disagree, I love him and he did a great job, but he shouldn't have a stand named after him for finishing 3rd, 4th and 5th but ultimately winning nothing.

All his trophies were at other clubs, what he did at Ipswich is his greatest achievement, they should name the entire ground after him there.

I sit in the East Stand and I would rather name it after Joe Harvey a true legend of our club as player and manager and he actually won us trophies.

We only have 4 stands and one is rightly named after Wor Jackie, is Sir Bobby really in the top 4 all-time Newcastle United greats, does he deserve to be ahead of Harvey, Gallacher, Keegan, Moncur, McCracken, Beardsley, Shearer, Mitchell, White?

He is a Geordie and has had an amazing career and we should all be very proud of him and he's been a great ambassador for our region. But most of his achievements had nothing to do with us, they were elsewhere. That's why I think the City of Newcastle should honour him not the club, one of the streets leading up to St James' could be renamed Sir Bobby Robson Way.

Andyway how many of you saying how great it would be, booed him for drawing at home to Fulham, walked out in disgust after the last game of the season coz he ONLY finished 5th?

Not sure about a stand, but he should definitely be honoured in some way.

I know there is a small statue, but maybe there should be a bigger one outside the ground, or maybe name the shop, or restaraunt or something inside the groud after him.

Priviledged to have met such a legend.

i think sir bobby deserves to be honoured more than any of the other creditable names mentioned on here i.e shearer, harvey, beardsley etc, but the difference is bobby is the ONLY man in football i've never heard a bad word said about. even a lot of my mackem mates think the bloke is top-class and wont say anything bad about the man. he's a born and bred geordie and he's also one of the most successful and well-respected managers of his generation. he was the 2nd best toon manager i've had the privelege to watch (after kk) but overall i'd say he's the most worthy to have a stand named after him when the worst does happen. just hope its on a sunny saturday when the toon are at home so we can go out and make him proud. sir bobby - always a true legend

ED you should do a tribute to Arthur Cox today, We had a few on Ramage who was a trier and a native but he didnt make any real contribution certainly nothing compared to the impact on the club that Cox has during his spells here.

Good luck with retirement Arthur.

Can't understand the debate Sir Bobby is a geordie and has black n white blood.
He is one of us.He has already been honoured at Ipswich.
Lets hope MA gives permission to do the honourable thing.
We can have the Sir John Hall stand, the Sir Bobby Robson stand, the Milburn stand, Shearer's bar so why not the Bramble/Boumsong stand (or of course the Hughie Gallagher stand)
Lets honour the great Sir Bobby in a correct and fitting manner.
