Mike Ashley Still Looking For Investments In Newcastle

12:17 pm, Saturday, August 9th, 2008 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 142 Comments

Mike Ashley, the Newcastle United owner, has detailed his vision for Newcastle in a new club magazine  article, that is out today.

Mike Ashley – still looking for investors in the club

Mike has said in the new magazine article about players Kevin wants to bring in, some of which we reported earlier today:

“If the deal is right – and that means it’s the right player who Kevin wants – then we will do that deal,”

“Kevin inherited, by Premier League standards, a relatively small squad and we have to build that up.”

There’s still some 22 days left in the transfer window, so plenty of time to bring in say another three good players, who fit all that Kevin requires in a player for Newcastle United.

The English billionaire has again rejected recent takeover stories, but he is willing to get some investment from others in the Newcastle United football club, which he has now said multiple times:

“Am I looking to sell up?” “No. Would I like partners in Newcastle United? Of course, that would make sense.”

“If you are interested in football, you should be looking closely at Queens Park Rangers.”

“Because I’m not sure if even Roman Abramovich can compare to the combined wealth of the billionaires they have in charge there now.”

We wonder just how many times Mike has to say he doesn’t want to sell the club, but is interested in some investment, before people will finally believe him?

He’s bound to be talking to other companies and other individual investors right now, but that doesn’t mean he’s looking to sell the club.

But we still bet there’s another report tomorrow, that someone else or some company – sensationally – is trying to buy Newcastle United.

Why do we say that?  Because tomorrow is Sunday, and you’ve got all the gossip press out in force.

Comments welcome.

Makes sense to me, i like the part he is kind of saying KK has the money he needs so like palming the blame over to him, but one worring thing is EVERY club would like investors i heard Everton Owner wants some investors but doesnt keep on about that point if like Ashley he keeps pointing out he NEEDS investors meaning he limited money to give Newcastle say at moment he could struggle getting 10mill for a budget which is minimal in todays standards, lets hope the Asian plan kicks off and a investor from there will help us out.

  • 2 Callum // Aug 9, 2008 at 12:27 PM

I think the game is delayed because of the Coloccini deal, maybe they want to present him to the crowd and his medical wont be completed untill that time ^^

  • 3 51times // Aug 9, 2008 at 12:31 PM

Callum – His medical is already done, the reason it’s been delayed is Valencia had trouble with their plane.

  • 4 sweendog // Aug 9, 2008 at 12:32 PM

if KK’s got the money then wheres the world class center forward and holding midfielder..
If Keegans got the money then newcastle will be buying …

    Left back
1 center forward (2 when smith is sold) Derdiyok and an experience big center forward
Probably CM playmaker (guthrie is looking good though) Diego/Fernandez
CM holding player (Inler/Ukraine boy we’ve been linked with)

  • 5 midlandstoon // Aug 9, 2008 at 12:34 PM

Callum- the match was delayed as the Valencia flight had a technical error so was late

  • 6 beye the great // Aug 9, 2008 at 12:35 PM

hope your right callum but doubt it otherwise they would have tried to dela y the stoke game when keegan eas announced as manager although saying that he game was a f.a cup tie and was quite late already if i remember

  • 7 sirjasontoon // Aug 9, 2008 at 12:37 PM

I think he should spend his own money..and put up or shut up.

Why should people invest in his club?

Back the manager…bulk the squad up and lets get into Europe this year.

I can’t even see him spending 20m this window taking into consideration what has come in from players sold.

All we get these days is spin and bull@@@@ from the club…let’s say we attract no investors then what…?

Ed, you did a great piece about Kenneth Rowe recently. I was at his funeral in Longbenton yesterday. He had written a missive to be read out should he be killed in action.

He wanted a celebration not a wake. He wanted fancy dress as long as no one dressed in red and white!

I am privileged to have had a true hero in my family and I thank you for your tribute and also to all the lads and lasses who added nice comments on this blog.

  • 11 ObaFan2 // Aug 9, 2008 at 12:38 PM

sweendog, so far I think the clubs done good business and Spidey, after watching him looks real class and hope again for more at todays match and this season…… really he looks a cut above imo.

Also if/when Colo signs it will be a record signing for this club for a defender… very positive sign.

KK knows his strengths and weaknesses and when the right player’s are available and want to play for us, they will have a good chance at being signed…. imo.

    The future looks bright.

  • 12 sirjasontoon // Aug 9, 2008 at 12:43 PM

Reading Chris Waddle’s comments in the press echos my sentiments that KK will walk by xmas unless he is given full control and above all backing.

No way will newcastle challenge the top 4 at the pace we are going..pompey,spurs and villa are moving in that direction rapidly…even with Coloccini we are not in that bracket by a long stretch.

We have a striker crisis…no creativity…1 player that can possibly cross a ball (spiderman).

  • 13 sirjasontoon // Aug 9, 2008 at 12:45 PM

Nick hope all is well mate..chin up !

  • 14 SteveM // Aug 9, 2008 at 12:45 PM

One thing MA seems to understand is that Newcastle will perform better if he takes the pressure off the manager and the players – unlike FS who used to pile it on both the manager and players. MA strikes me as a man who can take the pressure. IMO its a good thing that it’s MA whose getting the stick and not KK or the team. As far as KK talking or not talking to the press goes I think MA may have convinced him that sometimes being quiet is the best thing to do. KK has said that he’s enjoying himself and KK is the most honest of all football managers – so Im glad that he’s not talking all the time to the press – I would prefer to have an honest manager who doesnt comment on a lot than one who lets the little lies constantly slip out on inverviews.

  • 16 Darryl // Aug 9, 2008 at 1:03 PM

The onlly reason hes saying he needs investors, is because some people dont get it into there HEADS that he doesnt want to sell AKA some people here.

  • 17 Toon // Aug 9, 2008 at 1:08 PM

From someone claining to be in the know

Colo and Taiwo gonna be announced as a double deal apparently, should be within the next couple of days or so.

Habib Beye has had a canny bit to do with getting KK interested in Taiwo

  • 18 Graham // Aug 9, 2008 at 1:09 PM

Sirjasontoon – Why the hell should Ashley spend his own money on new players? He would only want that money back – plus interest.

The bloke has spent about £220m of his own money to rescue the club from administration. Do you not think he’s entitled to run the club in a professional manner instead of just spending his own cash?

No-one has said that we should be in amongst the top 4 this season – but thats where he wants to be. We could do a chelsea and spend our way into the top 4 but how long would that last? Ashley gets bored at some point, calls in his debts and walks away with NUFC in tatters.

What is being done is for the long term, not just for the next year.

Chris Waddle knows absolutely nowt if he believes Keegan will walk before christmas if he isn’t give oodles of cash to spend. It will be embarrasing watching him on Setanta if he comes out with twaddle like that

  • 19 Punk Skunk // Aug 9, 2008 at 1:13 PM

A bloke who has friends at newcastle he posts on another forum he is also on football 365 forum as well has got alot of things right before and is 100 per cent sure his source is right this time

Would love it if they were announced at the game tonight

  • 23 Matt Lacey // Aug 9, 2008 at 1:20 PM

It’s good to be reassured that Ashley will fork out the cash for the right players. I’m happy with the signings we’ve got already, looks like we’ve got real quality for relative pennies.

Coloccini will hopefully be the defender we’ve been crying out for. A left back and we’ve got acceptable cover in all positions, an attacking midfielder and a striker and we’ve got a good squad, I think.

Looks like the wheels are starting to turn, hopefully we just have a good solid season then we can press on with splashing out on better players next season.

  • 24 FrayBentos // Aug 9, 2008 at 1:20 PM

Well done to SteveM and ObaFan2. Nice to hear posts that are not part of the Doom brigade.

Will these people not understand that it wil be difficult and takes time to bring in quality signings that are worth alot of money, do you really think that Diego or Matias Fernandez will want to come to our club? no i dont think so

Keegan will take time over signings or only commit when he is sure they will be beneifical.

As far as im concerned, we have done the throwing silly money at silly players for long enough now. We are now being run more like a business now and im afriad to say that football is a business, so we have to live it

  • 25 Toon // Aug 9, 2008 at 1:24 PM

The double deal would also make sense as it is the only reason for the lack of confirmation over the coloccini deal.

Suppose we will find out more from KK after the match tonight

  • 26 ObaFan2 // Aug 9, 2008 at 1:27 PM

Ty FrayBentos :) I still think we’ll get some more class signings this month too, what an optimist I am

  • 29 Faustino // Aug 9, 2008 at 1:35 PM

Sir Jason Toon – it will be three years til we’re challenging top 4. No one has ever claimed any different.

Infrastructure and squad wise, Pompey and Villa are two seasons ahead of us and Spurs one. You can’t make that kind of time up by hurling money around. It’ll take time and skillfull management in a business and technial sense.

The players those three teams are signing are in direct realtion to the seasons they’ve just had. Challenge the top 4/5 or win a cup and we’ll have the same luck and investment. To argue we have no ambition is utter ars* gravy, we just don’t have a dumb f*ck board that think we need to plunge 50/60 million more into debt every year buying players that are a total disaster, as we slide out of the Premier league.

It still beggars my belief that anyone believes we’re in a position to be doing any better than we are in the transfer market. I know we are amazing fans but we don’t have to be blind to keep that mantle. We had a terrible season, torn apart by the world’s press and have very little to offer other than a battle to get back to the top. Any player we sign of quality is a blessing and we shouldn’t be lambasting the new board for a situation entirely created by the old one.

As a final note – Lads we’re a laughing stock in the Premiership. We need to stop this ridiculous calling for peoples heads and expecting manager walkouts.

Most importantly, we need to stop this ridiculous arrogance that’s shown on here that we should have Moutinho, Baptista and Arshavin signed by now. They are primadonnas of the highest order and wouldn’t sign for a club of our standing for all the money in the world. KK is building a squad, albeit slowly, with fight, determination and passion to play for our club. Not people who publically declare to the world that they’re ready for Barcelona cos they have a couple of decent games in the European Cup and a decent Uefa run!

Everytime you come up with a ‘great’ idea to save our midfield, google him and start reading their quotes about wanting to further their careers and play in Europe, or for one of the top teams in europe at the very least – then you’ll know why we aren’t trying to sign them. Cos we’d be wasting are bl**dy time.

  • 30 bailey // Aug 9, 2008 at 1:35 PM

Everton chairman has come out and said he will consider offers for club this is after earlier stating clubs need multi billionaires these days and Moyes complaining of no money.
    Leave off Ashley.
Any big business needs investors: that is how they both grow and survive.

  • 31 Ross G // Aug 9, 2008 at 1:38 PM

After Coloccini we need to sign three more top players minimum. They need to be a LB, CM, and CF. Here are my first realistic choices and they need to be the right age mid 20s as we lack experience too:

    – LB: Rat: Available for £4m, the 27 Romanian LB is perfect for us a very good defender but also good going forward possesses pace, strength and vast experience.
    – Back Up: Itunga, 26, Toulouse LB very fast strong player cheaper option but not as experienced.

    – CM: Inler: The guy is perfect for us, shone in the Euros a clear leader. Great age 24, and at 6ft gives some height to our midfield. He passes well and drives a midield. A must for us we have no midfielders that control the play.
    – Back Up: Manuel Fernandes: a very good option that is proven in the Prem Im shocked no-one has gone for him.

    – CF: Nikola Zigic: 27, this guy would be perfect for us. Have him as the main striker his hold up play would suit both Owen and Martins and gives us that extra option, he also can give Viduka some competition. He never got a chance at Valencia but his record speaks for itself.
    – Back up: Derdiyok: 20, A very impressive youngster with pace and power. Although I would love us to get him, Zigic is a proven scorer and that is a priority for me. Maybe get him in January if needed.

    My team then:

    Beye Coloccini Taylor Rat

    Inler Butt

    Gutierrez Martins

Subs: Harper, Faye, N’Zogbia, Duff, Milner, Viduka, Geremi.

  • 32 chuck // Aug 9, 2008 at 1:40 PM

So crack the top four is it?, I think maybe Spurs might do it, building a nice team there.
Depending on who else we get in before the window closes, we may crack the top eight in the comming season, could`nt take another relegation fight.
Surely MA knew what he was getting into when he bought the club, believe it Mike theres no cheap route to a top four spot, dont want to hear about Arsenal, they are all big spenders in the top four.
If you cant afford it, there are those who can and would spend the necessary dosh or put it back on the stock exchange and give the faithfull a piece of the club.
Its a tough act to operate a club challenging for a championship spot and still be profitable, ask Fergie and the other three.
Guess its mid table mediocrity then, ah well!

As for MA I wonder if the appearance of Steve McMahon (consortium) was to invest in the club rather than to buy it outright. It would make sense and tie in with what Mike is saying.

Bill – The consortium in Singapore have been quoted as saying that’s exactly what’s going on. It’s just the British Press tend to print that part in 4 point on page 26, as apposed to the lie of a takeover bid being 40 point on page 1.

  • 43 Faustino // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:10 PM

  • 45 Jonny // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:11 PM

    * Mcmahon is here to tie up a deal to work WITH the toon and help promote them in asia — NO TAKEOVER or even investment

*Spurs – are they really ahead of us? signed bags of creative players, but could well go into the season with one striker, a poor defence, and nobody that can tackle in midfield. They also have debt that is growing year on year. Not to mention always selling their best players to the top 4 !!!

*villa – have a very small squad -barry???? what the hell is happening there? when bouma got injured they had NO fullbacks they now have two one of them who is luke young FFS !!! they have also lost mellberg

i wish people would look at our squad with rose tinted glasses instead of being jealous of other clubs and their ‘good’ squads

yes we need additions and i have always had faith that ashley would pay for the right players.

I for one am over the moon we are at last starting to grow up as a club and actually plan for the future.

No more dyers on £80k — now that is common sense.

Lets just hope the new lads get more than 3 or 4 games to settle in before people rip into them !!!!!!

  • 46 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:12 PM

Spurs are around 2 yrs ahead of us, Villa, Everton and Pompey 1 yr ahead. It is silly to deny such things. However, 3 seasons of smart buys (including this season) will have us back in the top 6

  • 51 Jonny // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:15 PM

so if spurs are 2 years ahead of us where did they finish last season?

if the gap between them and us is 2 years worth of mega spending and development then what is the point??????

everton — no cash — have one recognised striker on the books……….

  • 52 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:17 PM

As i said earlier, MA’s recent comments are encouraging, i believe now is our time in the transfer market

    Keep ya’ pecker up kajman!..

  • 54 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:18 PM

Jonny it would be naive to believe Spurs will finish lower than 8th this season. Last yr was a bad yr for them, but with a good start they are top 6 material. Why dont people except this?

Instead of being in denial, arguing that these teams are not really ahead of us, why not just except that they are ahead of us and we will have to work hard over the next few yrs to close that gap, and maybe even overtake them? This allows us to think more realistically in terms of player transfers and league finishes.

  • 55 kajman // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:21 PM

Jonny – Put it this was… next year will mean another 3/4/5 players out on there ear with 2/3 young promising players and 2/3 of the likes of Coloccini and Gutierrez [and hopefully the midfielder we all want]. The same again a year later.

Not mega spending but allowing a strong squad to gel by creating a backbone and adding muscle carefully over time. Way stronger than our previous plastic surgery technique.

If so, I’m back to my original question… Why Spurs??

  • 75 Jonny // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:37 PM

all i was saying is that if you actually take the time to look closely at spurs (who they have bought and sold) you will see some major problems for them.

the same for villa and everton

pompey are probably the strongest but have still sold one of their best to fund the deals.

i think i am more than entitled to have my opinion which is that spurs are not all they are cracked up to be —— top 4 no chance

…I think some of those teams are goin’ backwards…Yay!..neverton for one!..

  • 78 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:40 PM

thats fair enough jonny, i agree they are not top four material, i said top 6 if they have a good start and i was criticised. why?

yes mushy you are exactly right. Positive comments about Spurs are not taken well on here. This is down to their fans in general and the fact that a sad fan often comes on here to wind people up. The thing is we are all wishing Spurs dont make top four when really we should be hoping for any team to break the top four. Whether it be Villa, Pompey, Spurs or even us :D

  • 79 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:42 PM

    cheers again Skunk

  • 80 Jonny // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:42 PM

so spyro’s opinion on spurs is the ONLY opinion that counts.

i disagreed about them as well as villa and everton in that they are not as far ahead of us as people make out

jeez if people cant take a difference of opinion without playing the victim card then its not really much of a discussion is it?

spyro loves spurs – i get it

i think spuds, everton, villa – are overrated – get it?

  • 81 mushy // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:43 PM

    Slightly new tack…
I think a moody Ronaldo and a moody Berbatov might be really bad news for Manure (here’s hoping). Whaddyathink?

  • 82 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:43 PM

Obafan that is fair enough and i understand that, but if we are discussing teams who we want to close the gap with, we surely have to mention Spurs, they are just a football team remember. If we avoid mentioning certain teams it just becomes silly.

  • 83 Punk Skunk // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:44 PM

jonny, i think y’right about villa & neverton mate, but i also get what Spyro’s saying generally, he’s not bigging up spuds, he’s just talking sense!..

  • 84 Hong Kon Ron // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:45 PM

The dreadlocked gadge from Wednesday night. Who is he?

  • 85 kajman // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:45 PM

guys ..its because.we’re…well i’m anyway jealous…of their spending…know i should’nt be!!! but who wound’nt be…hate to admit it ….and they are a good football playing team…does’nt mean that i like them..thats just my opinion

  • 86 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:45 PM

Cant be bothered to argue about this anymore, boring

I heard Man U might be going after Villa mushy. Personally i hope they do as Berbatov is by far the better player and he already has prem experience. what do you think?

  • 87 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:46 PM

    exactly Kajman

  • 88 hitman // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:47 PM

    spyro where you from

  • 89 toonaldinho // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:47 PM

found this on another article , link for the game is at the bottom ……… its from Dev so he should take credit for this

  • 90 Jonny // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:49 PM

aye but i cant honestly see how they will score enough and defend.

they have sold their best player by a mile and a 1 in 2 striker to boot……… are they going to replace him?

will modric or anyone else step up and score 20 this season – i cant see it.

they have two great CB WHEN FIT (and they are the two most injury prone players in the prem)

and like i have said who is going to tackle in midfield???

all i am trying to say is that i dont think they deserve a ‘big up’

  • 91 hitman // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:50 PM

    nice 1 toonaldinho and dev..

  • 92 kajman // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:50 PM

slow today…need some info to change blog..i’ll make a rumor up…ok try this…arthur cox as left as assis manager…big al to replace him…god that should do ahah

  • 93 mushy // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:50 PM

On his day, Berbatov can be world class and a delight to watch. I also think he can be a petulant kid with the potential to be dangerously disruptive which is why I’d like to see him at Manu, hoping it might break the top 4 stranglehold. I know I’m clutching at straws, but those top4 if allowed to continue is bad for football.

  • 94 PHiLCORE // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:50 PM

He’s a pure buisness man ashley, he knows where investment lies and how important it is to any well run company, good read.

  • 95 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:50 PM

  • 96 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:51 PM

Mushy, you and i are on the same page mate

  • 97 hitman // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:53 PM

london….cockneys dont like geordies and geordies dont like cockneys, you should know that.

  • 98 The Entertainers // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:53 PM

I too think / hope that investmet will come from the two Asian companies mentioned in the press.

I think we can all assume Ashley is here for the long term and is not out to make a quick profit.

Prehaps Ashley had hoped for the investment to have arrived by now and is one of the reasons behind the slow transfer market on our behalf.

I still trust the guy and believe sooner or later we will get the investment we need to challenge for the top trophies. However we may need to be patient and ride this season out.

  • 99 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:55 PM

what are you trying to say hitman?

  • 100 The Entertainers // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:55 PM

Different note and may have missed this, but does anyone know who the lad from Boavista on trial is?

  • 101 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:57 PM

Entertainers, my friend told me late last night that is is some nigerian CM. However, he later told me that was just what he thought (roll eyes)

  • 102 mushy // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:57 PM

Maybe one day , just like the credit crunch and sub-prime mortgages, the chickens will come home to roost, and all these clubs whose success is built on massive debts suddenly find themselves sliding down the toilet. Then the Ashley critics might have to eat some of their words.

    Hey, Ican dream can’t I

  • 103 hitman // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:57 PM

syro thats the way its allways been,im not saying all cockneys are wankers just a few,ive worked down london alot and seen it first hand..

  • 104 The Entertainers // Aug 9, 2008 at 2:57 PM

  • 106 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:00 PM

oh ok, well i wish i could disagree, but when it comes to football you are right. I have to deal with Chelsea, Spurs, West Ham and Arsenal fans all the time. In that order they are the worst and most irritating London team fans

You guys think the Spuds are bad, just wait until we are back up there with the big boys and the Chelski fans start turning up on here. They are the WORST

  • 107 kajman // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:00 PM

guys.. i personal could’nt give a flying F***k were anyone live’s or born …working country …colour ..ok well!!! maybe not sunderland hhhhaa. this site is for toonarmy fans…period…we all have i hope, the same burning desire for this club that we all love and hate at time, to win some silverware…

  • 108 hitman // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:00 PM

  • 109 The Entertainers // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:03 PM

Regarding the Boavista squad there is a young Nigerian CB / DM called Olufemi.

Hes 20 yrs old and was signed from Belgium.

Now theres a shot in the dark !

  • 110 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:04 PM

reports say we might be after Healy, what do people think?

I think it is a good move if we can get him on the cheap. He is a good back up striker IMO

  • 111 mushy // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:04 PM

Hitman, if I’ve picked you up correctly… I’d just like to say it takes a big man to admit to being wrong. Respect

  • 112 mushy // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:08 PM

Huge Geordie walks into pub, slams his fist on the bar and yells “ALL MACKEMS ARE WANKERS”
Little fella at the other end of the bar says “excuse me, but I strongly resent that remark”
Geordie says “are you a Mackem”
Little fella “actually no, I’m a wanker”

  • 113 The Entertainers // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:08 PM

Healy always appeared to me to be one of those players who perform better for country than club.

He didnt really hit it of at Fulham or even Leeds.
Me personally i would be disappointed if we did sign him and would rather buy bigger or someone younger.

But hey we may need any striker at this rate!

  • 114 Toon1978 // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:10 PM

Healy..NO NO NO NO NO NO NO, not any way foward, surely we can target a whole lot better.

  • 115 Faustino // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:13 PM

re Healey – I have to concur with a point some made on here yesterday. He’s to short to offer any real balance to the squad. Yes would be a good aqusition to stop gap any injury problems but that would be all.

  • 116 natedawg // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:16 PM

there has to be better than healy available , maybe lita or doyle if we were going for a striker in that kinda mould , and would both come at decent price

  • 117 chuck // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:20 PM

Yeah noticed that, those mentioning other teams in a positive sense get lambasted, accused of being a wum etc.

Mozza, don’t know if you watched the Dr Alice Roberts prog on the liver but you’d be better of drinking water than hair of the dog. The liver is a forgiving organ but diseases of it are on the increase. Anyone who likes a drink should make sure they take water during the course of a session, you are less likely to end up with blinding headache.
If you are going to the game today try to find a quiet end, although there shouldn’t be one, I hope.

  • 128 Spyro // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:48 PM

Tom Toon said it was Nile Ranger, the 17yr old ex southampton youth.

  • 129 Ulrichs Stained Underpants // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:50 PM

Tom Toon is wrong because the bloke in the picture is older than 17.

  • 130 totsy // Aug 9, 2008 at 3:52 PM

There’s been some mention of a run out for a mystery trialist from Portuguese side Boavista (who are in the clarts after being relegated over a match-fixing scandal).

We’re unsure whether a repeat of the Bassong/Doncaster scenario is on the cards, but there have been two trialists at the club this week – and both scored in a training ground friendly in front of a watching Kevin Keegan.

Anyone noticed the miedia trying to give a negative spin to MA’s positive comments. They are now saying he is pressuring KK for a Euro spot. It doesn’t matter what he says, they will always turn it against him. I say we should wait until we hear it straight from the horses mouth, stick by MA and ignore the press no matter how convincing their story is.
