Mike Ashley, the Newcastle United owner, has detailed his vision for Newcastle in a new club magazine article, that is out today.
Mike Ashley – still looking for investors in the club
Mike has said in the new magazine article about players Kevin wants to bring in, some of which we reported earlier today:
“If the deal is right – and that means it’s the right player who Kevin wants – then we will do that deal,â€
“Kevin inherited, by Premier League standards, a relatively small squad and we have to build that up.â€
There’s still some 22 days left in the transfer window, so plenty of time to bring in say another three good players, who fit all that Kevin requires in a player for Newcastle United.
The English billionaire has again rejected recent takeover stories, but he is willing to get some investment from others in the Newcastle United football club, which he has now said multiple times:
“Am I looking to sell up?†“No. Would I like partners in Newcastle United? Of course, that would make sense.”
“If you are interested in football, you should be looking closely at Queens Park Rangers.”
“Because I’m not sure if even Roman Abramovich can compare to the combined wealth of the billionaires they have in charge there now.â€
We wonder just how many times Mike has to say he doesn’t want to sell the club, but is interested in some investment, before people will finally believe him?
He’s bound to be talking to other companies and other individual investors right now, but that doesn’t mean he’s looking to sell the club.
But we still bet there’s another report tomorrow, that someone else or some company – sensationally – is trying to buy Newcastle United.
Why do we say that? Because tomorrow is Sunday, and you’ve got all the gossip press out in force.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Makes sense to me, i like the part he is kind of saying KK has the money he needs so like palming the blame over to him, but one worring thing is EVERY club would like investors i heard Everton Owner wants some investors but doesnt keep on about that point if like Ashley he keeps pointing out he NEEDS investors meaning he limited money to give Newcastle say at moment he could struggle getting 10mill for a budget which is minimal in todays standards, lets hope the Asian plan kicks off and a investor from there will help us out.

Comment #2I think the game is delayed because of the Coloccini deal, maybe they want to present him to the crowd and his medical wont be completed untill that time ^^

Comment #3Callum – His medical is already done, the reason it’s been delayed is Valencia had trouble with their plane.

Comment #4if KK’s got the money then wheres the world class center forward and holding midfielder..
If Keegans got the money then newcastle will be buying …
Left back
1 center forward (2 when smith is sold) Derdiyok and an experience big center forward
Probably CM playmaker (guthrie is looking good though) Diego/Fernandez
CM holding player (Inler/Ukraine boy we’ve been linked with)

Comment #7I think he should spend his own money..and put up or shut up.
Why should people invest in his club?
Back the manager…bulk the squad up and lets get into Europe this year.
I can’t even see him spending 20m this window taking into consideration what has come in from players sold.
All we get these days is spin and bull@@@@ from the club…let’s say we attract no investors then what…?

Comment #10Ed, you did a great piece about Kenneth Rowe recently. I was at his funeral in Longbenton yesterday. He had written a missive to be read out should he be killed in action.
He wanted a celebration not a wake. He wanted fancy dress as long as no one dressed in red and white!
I am privileged to have had a true hero in my family and I thank you for your tribute and also to all the lads and lasses who added nice comments on this blog.

Comment #11sweendog, so far I think the clubs done good business and Spidey, after watching him looks real class and hope again for more at todays match and this season…… really he looks a cut above imo.
Also if/when Colo signs it will be a record signing for this club for a defender… very positive sign.
KK knows his strengths and weaknesses and when the right player’s are available and want to play for us, they will have a good chance at being signed…. imo.
The future looks bright.

Comment #12Reading Chris Waddle’s comments in the press echos my sentiments that KK will walk by xmas unless he is given full control and above all backing.
No way will newcastle challenge the top 4 at the pace we are going..pompey,spurs and villa are moving in that direction rapidly…even with Coloccini we are not in that bracket by a long stretch.
We have a striker crisis…no creativity…1 player that can possibly cross a ball (spiderman).

Comment #14One thing MA seems to understand is that Newcastle will perform better if he takes the pressure off the manager and the players – unlike FS who used to pile it on both the manager and players. MA strikes me as a man who can take the pressure. IMO its a good thing that it’s MA whose getting the stick and not KK or the team. As far as KK talking or not talking to the press goes I think MA may have convinced him that sometimes being quiet is the best thing to do. KK has said that he’s enjoying himself and KK is the most honest of all football managers – so Im glad that he’s not talking all the time to the press – I would prefer to have an honest manager who doesnt comment on a lot than one who lets the little lies constantly slip out on inverviews.

Comment #18Sirjasontoon – Why the hell should Ashley spend his own money on new players? He would only want that money back – plus interest.
The bloke has spent about £220m of his own money to rescue the club from administration. Do you not think he’s entitled to run the club in a professional manner instead of just spending his own cash?
No-one has said that we should be in amongst the top 4 this season – but thats where he wants to be. We could do a chelsea and spend our way into the top 4 but how long would that last? Ashley gets bored at some point, calls in his debts and walks away with NUFC in tatters.
What is being done is for the long term, not just for the next year.
Chris Waddle knows absolutely nowt if he believes Keegan will walk before christmas if he isn’t give oodles of cash to spend. It will be embarrasing watching him on Setanta if he comes out with twaddle like that

Comment #23It’s good to be reassured that Ashley will fork out the cash for the right players. I’m happy with the signings we’ve got already, looks like we’ve got real quality for relative pennies.
Coloccini will hopefully be the defender we’ve been crying out for. A left back and we’ve got acceptable cover in all positions, an attacking midfielder and a striker and we’ve got a good squad, I think.
Looks like the wheels are starting to turn, hopefully we just have a good solid season then we can press on with splashing out on better players next season.

Comment #24Well done to SteveM and ObaFan2. Nice to hear posts that are not part of the Doom brigade.
Will these people not understand that it wil be difficult and takes time to bring in quality signings that are worth alot of money, do you really think that Diego or Matias Fernandez will want to come to our club? no i dont think so
Keegan will take time over signings or only commit when he is sure they will be beneifical.
As far as im concerned, we have done the throwing silly money at silly players for long enough now. We are now being run more like a business now and im afriad to say that football is a business, so we have to live it

Comment #29Sir Jason Toon – it will be three years til we’re challenging top 4. No one has ever claimed any different.
Infrastructure and squad wise, Pompey and Villa are two seasons ahead of us and Spurs one. You can’t make that kind of time up by hurling money around. It’ll take time and skillfull management in a business and technial sense.
The players those three teams are signing are in direct realtion to the seasons they’ve just had. Challenge the top 4/5 or win a cup and we’ll have the same luck and investment. To argue we have no ambition is utter ars* gravy, we just don’t have a dumb f*ck board that think we need to plunge 50/60 million more into debt every year buying players that are a total disaster, as we slide out of the Premier league.
It still beggars my belief that anyone believes we’re in a position to be doing any better than we are in the transfer market. I know we are amazing fans but we don’t have to be blind to keep that mantle. We had a terrible season, torn apart by the world’s press and have very little to offer other than a battle to get back to the top. Any player we sign of quality is a blessing and we shouldn’t be lambasting the new board for a situation entirely created by the old one.
As a final note – Lads we’re a laughing stock in the Premiership. We need to stop this ridiculous calling for peoples heads and expecting manager walkouts.
Most importantly, we need to stop this ridiculous arrogance that’s shown on here that we should have Moutinho, Baptista and Arshavin signed by now. They are primadonnas of the highest order and wouldn’t sign for a club of our standing for all the money in the world. KK is building a squad, albeit slowly, with fight, determination and passion to play for our club. Not people who publically declare to the world that they’re ready for Barcelona cos they have a couple of decent games in the European Cup and a decent Uefa run!
Everytime you come up with a ‘great’ idea to save our midfield, google him and start reading their quotes about wanting to further their careers and play in Europe, or for one of the top teams in europe at the very least – then you’ll know why we aren’t trying to sign them. Cos we’d be wasting are bl**dy time.

Leave off Ashley.

Comment #31After Coloccini we need to sign three more top players minimum. They need to be a LB, CM, and CF. Here are my first realistic choices and they need to be the right age mid 20s as we lack experience too:
– LB: Rat: Available for £4m, the 27 Romanian LB is perfect for us a very good defender but also good going forward possesses pace, strength and vast experience.
– Back Up: Itunga, 26, Toulouse LB very fast strong player cheaper option but not as experienced.
– CM: Inler: The guy is perfect for us, shone in the Euros a clear leader. Great age 24, and at 6ft gives some height to our midfield. He passes well and drives a midield. A must for us we have no midfielders that control the play.
– Back Up: Manuel Fernandes: a very good option that is proven in the Prem Im shocked no-one has gone for him.
– CF: Nikola Zigic: 27, this guy would be perfect for us. Have him as the main striker his hold up play would suit both Owen and Martins and gives us that extra option, he also can give Viduka some competition. He never got a chance at Valencia but his record speaks for itself.
– Back up: Derdiyok: 20, A very impressive youngster with pace and power. Although I would love us to get him, Zigic is a proven scorer and that is a priority for me. Maybe get him in January if needed.
My team then:
Given
Beye Coloccini Taylor Rat
Inler Butt
Owen
Gutierrez Martins
Zigic
Subs: Harper, Faye, N’Zogbia, Duff, Milner, Viduka, Geremi.

Comment #32So crack the top four is it?, I think maybe Spurs might do it, building a nice team there.
Depending on who else we get in before the window closes, we may crack the top eight in the comming season, could`nt take another relegation fight.
Surely MA knew what he was getting into when he bought the club, believe it Mike theres no cheap route to a top four spot, dont want to hear about Arsenal, they are all big spenders in the top four.
If you cant afford it, there are those who can and would spend the necessary dosh or put it back on the stock exchange and give the faithfull a piece of the club.
Its a tough act to operate a club challenging for a championship spot and still be profitable, ask Fergie and the other three.
Guess its mid table mediocrity then, ah well!
