The official web site is reporting that the Newcastle United’s pre-season friendly against Valencia at St. James’ Park today, will now kick off at the later time of 5pm.

This is apparently due to the delayed arrival of Valencia from Spain following a technical issue concerning their aircraft.
Supporters using corporate areas will still be able to enter the stadium from 1pm.
The club apologizes to supporters for the inconvenience caused by circumstances beyond the Club’s control.
Not sure why it had to be delayed, because obviously the Valencia team must now be in Newcastle.
Well, that will probably hit the gate, which is unfortunate for everybody concerned.
We’ll really have to trounce them now.Â

Yeah I saw the rumour about Tymoschuk, and I also thought he was Ukrainian, rather than Russian…I swear I’ve seen him in the Ukraine national team on Pro Evo

If Ashley did say that then it’s very encouraging.

beye the great if we do get tymo we would be able to push guthrie into AM and he can create and score if pushed forward

Tymoschuk is a great player. But I tink he won’t come cheap so it might be better to spend the money to buy a attacking midfielder.
15 toon up // Aug 9, 2008 at 10:48 AM
I have a friend who works at the ground on match days. He has just told me that the match could be off! It seems the Valencian officials have been trying to call it off since last night but the toon officials are furious with them. Latest is they are still in Spain so unless something happens soon expect it to be off.
Hope not my 5 year old will be pretty upset!

Instead of going for a huge player, why not go for Tymoschuk and then someone like Skjelbred? Supplemented with Derdiyok and a left back, that might look good!!!
Say Tymoschuk for 7 million, Skjelbred for 4 million, Derdiyok for 6 million and 5 million for a left back (Unless we go for the chap from Tolouse, who would be 2 million). 21 million For 4 players in this market would be an outsnading move, and if we sell Smith for 3 million it lessens the blow
17 Ben_BKK // Aug 9, 2008 at 11:04 AM
Tymoschuk was recently (as in February 2007) bought by Zenit St Petersburg for about 10 million pounds, so he won’t be moving on for 7 mil so soon…
That’s not to say he won’t move, but he won’t be cheap, that’s for sure.

thats lucky. i was thinking about going down to the game from Edinburgh and would have booked tickets on specific trains. i.e leaving newcastle at about 6. i would have been extremely pissed off!

Wasn’t it reported that the Valencia team had flown in to Newcastle yesterday? there wasn’t any mention of a delay then.
