Coloccini Plays At Old Trafford – If Fit Enough

If Coloccini does sign soon for Newcastle United, it looks like Kevin Keegan wants him in the side for Old Trafford next Sunday.

Fabricio Coloccini – Keegan will play him if fit enough

Kevin was asked today if Coloccini would figure in the side against Man United next Sunday:

“Yes – if his fitness levels are right. We will watch how quickly he integrates this week.”

“His team has been in South America playing the games we played 10 days ago, but he looks very fit.”

“We will wait and see.”

Deportivo are in Venezuela for pre-season, but Fabricio didn’t go along, because of his ever pending move to Newcastle, and he’s been training with the club’s youth players before he headed to Tyneside on Saturday.

If Coloccini does not make it in time for Sunday, it appears like Keegan will opt for a central defensive pairing of Steven Taylor and Claudio Cacapa.

While that would probably be the best we’ve got right now, they are a little questionable and Cacapa looks a little too slow for the Premier league.

But they have started all six of Newcastle’s friendlies in the absence of Abdoulaye Faye, who has yet to return to full training, having reported back to the squad with an injury.

And we’ve seen Cacapa give some great displays when it’s mattered and he no doubt will be ready for the game at Old Trafford.

But this may be our Achilles heel against an expected very good Red Devils side, but the boys will all be ready for the game, we know that for sure.

Comments welcome.

He is our player, without doubt – he’ll be announced tomorrow afternoon along with the other MAJOR signing.

Of course he has signed. It’s obvious they are just holding back the announcement because there is something else in the pipeline.

Yeah Im interested to know who this other signing will be, its probably just going to be Coloccini and Bassong!!

@Davi…no offence mate but i doubt its Arshavin! 🙂

They will probably have Bassong, Colocconi and Spear at a press conference or something…cant see any MAJOR signing coming in yet…You never know MA may put his hand in his pocket around January and thats why he isnt spending that much now…Which IMO would be a good strategy

jc-a guy came on here earlier and claimed tomorrow along with coloccini we’d unveil a signing that would be classed as major.
he claims to have a connection within the club and in the past has given information on here hours or days in advance that has turned out to be correct.
anyway, he said along with coloccini tomorrow, we would unveil another signing who would surprise us, and is a major name.
make of it what you will! i for one will beleive something when it comes from .co.uk,lol

It would be great if we’d actually gotten 6 new players, but MA and KK agreed not to mention the other 3, cause of mindgames with Fergy.
Maybe we got Arshavin, Aimar and that swiss striker that i never remember the name of. Big lad, young…cant remember…
Well, that would be nice wouldn’t it?? *Dreaming away*

Just a point about Cacapa, it’s nothing to do with his pace. He’s fairly pacey infact. It’s the fact that he seems to have no awareness or vision about what the ball’s going to do. So often I’ve seen him try to head the ball back to Given/Harps but the ball is about 2 foot above his head and he just heads thin air then the forward runs in. I thought this was a basic skill as a CB.
