Jonas Gutierrez seems to be enjoying his time on Tyneside, and he talked to nufcTV today in Newcastle.
Jonas Gutierrez – hope the Geordie fans like him
Jonas played very well on Saturday, like most of our players, and set up both Newcastle’s two late goals.
His corner after 78 minutes found Damien Duff, who smashed the ball into the goal with his head – what a tremendous goal that was, and Steven Taylor headed against a post from a Jonas cross, and of course James Milner made no mistake from 6 yards out.
It was a good 2-1 victory for the lads against Spanish cup winners Valencia, who were a very good looking side, but not as fit as the Newcastle side, and were about a week behind us in their training.
But they had some excellent players and played very good football, and it was overall just an excellent game to watch from two teams willing to attack.
The 25-year-old Argentine International told nufcTV today:
“It’s important that the supporters are with us so that when an away team comes to St.James’ Park they know that the fans are behind us,”
“I know already that we have very good fans and my first two games at home I have enjoyed very much.”
“I hope the fans like me and I was happy to help get the win against Valencia.”
“It did not matter who scored or set up the goal, we were all just very happy to get what was an important win,”
“That gives us confidence going to Man United next weekend.”
Jonas has fitted in very well at Newcastle and he is an industrious player, and can work his magic down either wing.
There’s little doubt he can do very well at Newcastle, and we just hope we get his registration through,in time for him to line up for us at Old Trafford next Sunday.
They don’t come any tougher than our first league game, away against the reigning European and Premier League Champions.
What’s the chances of a surprise Newcastle win?
Better than you may think!   😀

Comment #6zog dont wanna be here so let him goes ive lost track of the amount of times hes aid he’d like to join arsenal or spurs just they dont want him. lets just hope jonas can play just read this…
Gutierrez has been appearing in pre-season, but will not be able to make his competitive debut unless Mallorca release his registration forms.
And Keegan admitted he is in the dark on “Spiderman’s†availability for the trip to Old Trafford.
“I don’t know, I hope so,†he stated.

Comment #15Daniel – it was a spideyman corner what yee on aboot?
We all love him now… but how things can change so quickly… ahem I could list 10 examples recently.
So calm down… he looks good so it’s exciting to have that kind of player in the side but when he goes quiet will he be being booed by SJP? You have to wonder,,,,
Cooldj…. AND duff?? You’d have to say he’s looking good again and he’d be close to my first 11 for manure….
At the mo… realistically…

Comment #23nufc4lyk, Colo has been signed for 2 days, only reason he wouldn’t start on sunday is fitness or easing him into the team, nothing to do with transfers or paperwork.

Spidey is already my 2nd fav player… after Oba ofc 🙂
Very skillful player who plays with heart and passion and a great example of a professional footballer…. runs for 90+minutes too, what a great signing NUFC.

Comment #31Ed needs more CPU. Ed, get is sorted, mate! I suppose that’s a good problem to have so long as your ISP is willing to square it away (don’t see why they wouldn’t as long as you pay ’em 😉 )

Comment #32Well, i can understand why fans on here dismiss rumours of Xavi… We have been disapointed to many times before, but if you gave me the choice of betting on either Xavi joining us or Tevez and Macherano joining West Ham before it happened, i would take the Xavi bet anytime, as would most sane people i reckon.

Comment #37Was 100% Guthrie corner, he was wearing no 8, I was at the game. Both Guthrie and Jonas has great games considering it was a friendly.
Assists from both the newbie’s, I can live with that!
Anyhoo, no matter, Jonas is gonna be great but PLEASE give him time to settle. He hasnt experienced a fast paced premier league game (especially MUtd) yet and he may take 10-15 games or so to adapt. Remember it a new country, team and league for him.
Still think he will add something to the team from the off but will no doubt improve throughout season!

Comment #38how did jase find more than one person to be with him ahaha.
duff would still be my 4th choice winger. also arda would be a silly signing as we have lua lua as a 5th choice winger. that’s the area we are strong!!!
