Ilunga or Warnock Bound For Newcastle

We had reported last week that Toulouse star Herita Ilunga would jump at the chance to join Newcastle United.

Herita Ilunge – on right – wants to come to UK

The 26-year-old left-back moved to Toulouse only last year from St Etienne and he has impressed since that move.

It seems that both Celtic and Newcastle are keen on the player but we think if Newcastle can get Stephen Warnock form Blackburn, then we wouldn’t move for Ilunga.

Ilunga however seems keen to join either club, as he told Sky Sports:

“I am flattered by Celtic’s interest, they are one of the biggest teams in the world and their fans are the best in the world,”

“But Newcastle have very good fans and I am flattered by their interest also, but we have to wait, it does not depend on me.”

“There is so much that needs to be done for a transfer, but a move to the United Kingdom is the one I want to move my career forward.”

“The Premier League is appealing, but Celtic are the biggest team in Scotland and are known everywhere – so I don’t know, I love the United Kingdom and that is all I can say,”

Reports in France suggest Newcastle are leading Celtic in the chase to sign Ilunga, but it will be a balancing act as to who Newcastle sign, if indeed they have the opportunity to get Warnock from Blackburn Rovers.

We have to think Warnock, with his Premier League experience would be Newcastle’s first choice.

What do you think?

    hhhmm,
I don’t know about this one.
undoubtedly we are looking for a left back…
But are we looking for a starting left back, or cover for Enrique?
If Warnock signs I think it would only be because he recieves some assurances about his squad status.
I for one am looking forward to Enriques second season,.. and he is my first choice.

Cover for enrique?!?! What is it with posters to this blog and Enrique? While he’s not complete rubbish, he is no where near the talent his price tag suggests. We should be looking at people like Wayne Bridge with Enrique as back up.

Not sure I like the sounds that Ilunga is making. He just sounds desperate for bigger money.

Micky toon What is it with poster’s to this Blog?

Enrique Is a highly promising spanish u21 player.. Good enough for Villareal, and held in high regard by their fans. (something i cannot say about bench warmer bridge) A player who wants to improve and perform for nufc.
Why is it so difficult for some people to give some support for our better players?

Between Ilunge and Warnock id have Warnock as he has prem experiance and as some else on here has said he came from the same background as Guthrie and he was in the England squad ( Warnock ) recently and the fact Paul Ince is desperate to keep him shows hes worth his value. I would really like to see Warnock in a bar code as he will be a decent addition to our defence and he cant do any worse than what has happend in season by gone.

Warnock has denied requesting a transfer and I second the views already listed, Llunga is on the hunt for more money from Celtic.

From SSN ” I love the United Kingdom and that is all I can say???” Not one to cover all bases then…..

Not sure we need a 26 year old first team premiership player either. Might this cause dissension amongst the ranks when he doesn’t get to play. Would he settle for that, never mind us?

Who is this guy from Boa Vista? Anyone know anything?

A young up and coming, determined player to push Enrique would be my choice. Step up Tozer?

Warnock denied reports he handed in a transfer request so he wont be coming and i doubt Ilunga will be coming too, we still havent bloody got Coloccini yet or Gutierrez registration, we act so bloody slow in the transfer market.

Agree with you all – very very frustrating week all round – I was convinced we would hear something today. Have you see Chelski have anounced a press conference for 5.00pm. How I wish we would do the same. If NUFC were a parent and us supporters their child they would be done for mental cruelty !!!!! lol 😮

I would try at all costs to sign Warnock and if that fails go for Ilunga. Warnock is a proven excellent prem LB and there is a world of difference between the prem and French and Scottish leagues.
To sign cover for Enrique…. rubbish, sign the best players available to you is what I say. Warnock should and would be asured of first-team status in the attempt to sign him.

I have serious doubts that Colloccini has even signed.

It never takes this long to finalise a deal – we’ll be lucky if we get any new signings by Sunday.

Even Bassong isn’t even an official Newcastle player yet! Plus Jonas can’t play at this stage!

Still at least we have Guthrie.

AshHague – no offense – but its clear that bassong has officially signed as i have told about hundred others that seem to think he hasn’t. He even has a squad profile on nufc.co.uk

As for coloccini – he would not be in the stands or on the back of the owners shirt if we hadn’t of completed the deal

    NEWS FLASH!

Barton has admitted assault on Dabo to the FA at today’s hearing and now faces a lengthy ban. Ban to be announced before the end of this month.

    Just been on the news.

When you think things can’t get any worse today, yet again Barton is dragging our club’s name through the mud!

Mozza’s right this week has sucked balls big time! much like every week during this transfer window. My best m8’s a villa fan & he’s buzzing for next season & they only signed 2 good defenders! there is so much doom & gloom around our beloved club these days that it sickens me! It took MA so long to say “dont worry i’ll back KK! & the signings will be made but only the right players” now had he said this at the begining of the window fair play, but by leaving it so l8 i & i’m sure many others dont belive a word of it! how in gods name are we going to improve from last seasons shambolic display? we got rid of 6 players (including Diarra) & we’ve brought in 3! officially, our squad was paper thin anyway to begin with! we are a laughing stock. It’s so depressing being a Toon fan at the moment, the only thing i can hope for is that our big name players find form again (like duff in pre season) & that we can get our 3 strikers fit & stay fit. Got a feeling it’s goin to be a long hard season with not many rewards lads! starting with a botting on sunday from a man u team even missing Rooney & Ronaldo! Sorry to be a killjoy but i’m so Friken sick of all this bollocks coming from the club!!!!
